Sony to reward Capcom with branded PSN storefront
Capcom has been one of the most prolific publishers of downloadable titles for PSN and XBLA for a while now -- with notable games Bionic Commando Rearmed and Mega Man 9 hitting digital store shelves earlier this fall. To reward them for their tireless productivity, Sony is giving the publisher their own Capcom-branded storefront on the PlayStation Store. The first of what Sony hopes will be many "publisher portals", this dedicated page will feature the company's games, setting them apart from the rest of the pack. The storefront will open in November -- perhaps, some have postulated, in sync with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

I thought the PSN Store was perfect as it was. I'd really love the NXE to introduce a store as good as this.
Actually, the biggest thing I hope the NXE brings is the ability to queue downloads via games. I hate having to download each file separately in RB.
KarlW @ Oct 19th 2008 3:48AM
Seriously? I hate the PSN's navigation, I find it really difficult to find items that I'm interested in. That said, I've never used the 360's store, so I can't compare them - maybe it's comparatively good.
I've also discovered that PS Store navigation is different in different regions. My negative opinions are based on the EU store. The US store is easier to navigate. I really wish they'd standardise. They could bring the releases in sync while they do it.
Emophia @ Oct 19th 2008 6:29AM
I use both the UK and the US store, and I find it a dream to navigate.
Most of the time I'm only down loading new stuff anyways, but yesterday, I had an urge to download gripshift, and it took my half a second to find.
So easy.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 9:33AM
US store is a lot easier to navigate, but indeed, finding stuff you want is a lot harder than finding featured things on it.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Oct 19th 2008 11:33AM
How is it hard to navigate in any way? You click the icon of what you want (games, demos, PSX classics, PSP games, videos, and themes and BGs). From there, you're given genres and then a submenu for that. I've never had any problems quickly finding what I'm searching for in the PSN store. Although a search function would be grand.
Tiptup300 @ Oct 19th 2008 2:01PM
There is a search, the only thing that actually does bother me about the menu is the fact that it's very slow to load items.
Chin-Poh @ Oct 18th 2008 10:10PM
Interesting since Capcom not too long ago had really snubbed the PS3 by taking away Monster Hunter 3 entirely, losing exclusivity for DMC4, having 5gb mandatory installs for DMC4 and Lost Planet, and a mediocre port of Lost Planet.
I'm not really surprised at the actions they have taken but it looks like the PS3 is becoming valuable to them like the 360 has been.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Oct 18th 2008 10:49PM
Or I guess, like EA, they pretty much saw the sales on PS3 and said amongst themselves "can we really afford to say FUCK THESE PEOPLE? I mean, they ARE buying games."
KarlW @ Oct 19th 2008 3:51AM
Sheppy: that could be it. People are becoming more familiar with the PS3, more people are buying them, and it's becoming a more attractive console to develop on.
On the other hand, there's no way to grow sales without developing for all consoles. When you have shareholders breathing down your neck, any portion of the market you neglect is going to come back and haunt you.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 9:35AM
Not if you get paid more money to make a game exclusive than you would have done for selling it on the other console.
BIGFAT @ Oct 19th 2008 1:50PM

see thats how fanboy think, they think of Capcom as a person that has motives and favorites, but Capcom dosnet think like that (and neither does sony)they think like a business and business main goal is to succeed.
Kspraydad @ Oct 18th 2008 10:35PM
Monster Hunter HD confirmed?
Superstar90 @ Oct 18th 2008 10:46PM
I doubt it! The amount of effort it would take is probably 100x as much as the PSP versions and it would sell waaaaaaaaaaaay less. They'll probably keep using the Wii engine they made for future Wii expansions and keep redoing the PSP expansions.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 19th 2008 8:27AM
Funny enough, I think it would perfom better then the handheld version.
A MH MMORPG would be quite unique, in HD, with damage visible and monsters constantly escaping etc, the game could be quite amazing :)
Definatly more then DMC was ¬_¬
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 18th 2008 11:36PM
Dear Sony,
Please make a Backstreet Boys themed store.. my sister really likes them...
Also, please put Slant 6 in a time-out until they fix SOCOM.
k thx u bye
p.s. I asked for a pony last Christmas, why have I not gotten it yet? Did you tell Santa like I asked?
Levi @ Oct 19th 2008 12:07AM
They deserve it, Capcom is the bomb.
Premature ejaculation man @ Oct 19th 2008 12:19AM
Capcom is Capcom. You have to pay $3 to unlock the Capcom is the bomb mode.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 19th 2008 8:23AM
You get a trophy for it as well? :O
Levi @ Oct 19th 2008 10:47AM
say what you want about their DLC, but their games have gotten more play time on my PS3 than pretty much anything else. Probably cause I'm still an old school game at heart :)
Either way, Endless mode for Mega Man 9 is the awesomest thing to happen to the series ever, and I had no problem paying $3 for it. I've probably gotten at least 5 hours of entertainment out of Endless alone - perfectly worth the 3 bucks they charged for it.
AzzX @ Oct 19th 2008 1:48AM
They Have been doing this on Steam for years.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 19th 2008 5:51AM
Yeah, but PC gaming is irrelevant. Go over to BigDownload, I'm sure your tastes are catered to over there.
AzzX @ Oct 19th 2008 6:18AM
"Yeah, but PC gaming is irrelevant"
Is it? Shite, what have I been doing all these years.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 19th 2008 6:33AM
Wasting your time playing on an archaic system, probably playing mediocre games. Bluntly.
Jakka @ Oct 19th 2008 7:09AM
Ech, I wish more people commented on BD.Then again Dead Space giveway proved that they can if only they weren't a bunch of lazy swag-grabbing assholes.
AzzX @ Oct 19th 2008 7:24AM
Referencing Archaic to PC gaming just reduced your comment spamming credibility to 0.
Nativity seems common with posters like Psalm Bowser.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 9:37AM
Yes, the PC has existed since the 80's and the 360 has existed since 2005, so your impeccable logic obviously means that the PC is too old to play games.
Strange then that it has the better graphics, a larger market share than any console and more people playing online than any console.
But of course, facts and opinions are obviously mutually exclusive to people on the same level of cretin-itude as yourself.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 19th 2008 9:59AM
What's the 360 got to do this, Hag? I'm in no way a 360 head, in fact, a little research will shop that I despise the console. And what's marketshare, the amount of people playing online, better graphics got to do with me; how does that effect my worldview on video games? Since when do these trivial matters effect how one has fun?
You sound like a poor marketing student. First year, Hag?
Finally, what's with the silly insults? Are you so base that you cannot argue without devolving to mudslinging.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 10:18AM
Apologies that I didn't deem you worthy of researching in order to form an accurate critique - 360 was shorthand for console.
I guess your definition of fun is very different from mine, but it's my opinion that squinting at a TV and spending several seconds trying to line up a headshot with an analogue stick doesn't quite satisfy me as much as being fully in control of my game.
Sure, mediocre games exist for the PC because it's easy to develop for. That same factor means that it enjoys large numbers of great multiplatform games with better graphics, controls and involvement than console counterparts.
Besides, you said that PC gaming was irrelevant (hence the market share and people playing online points) - you can't just change what you were arguing to make it look like you didn't lose.
And if being called a cretin really upset you then I suggest you stay off the internet for good.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 19th 2008 10:25AM
The top movie at the moment, I think, is Beverly Hills Chihuahua. It's made over $60million; but it still remains irrelevant to me, and many more millions of people. What's your point, Hag.
You're using well too many assumptions, kid.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 10:49AM
Are we really arguing about the definition of 'relevant' now?
IF all you can do is argue that the PC is full of crap games then you're as narrow minded as the executives who put out films like Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 19th 2008 11:15AM
So PC gaming is equivalent to Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I'm glad we can agree on something, Hag.
Haggard @ Oct 19th 2008 11:51AM
Now who's making assumptions about what other people said?
[playwhutyalike {C.E.P}] @ Oct 19th 2008 1:59AM
This is a pretty classy move Sony, good job.
#28 @ Oct 19th 2008 2:50AM
Yeah, Bionic commando was awesome.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 19th 2008 4:12AM
Way to suck the Royal Penis! King Shit!
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 19th 2008 8:20AM
Lol, who you talking to :)
riggs @ Oct 19th 2008 12:29PM
a ludacris reference, nice.
tmmoore_nc @ Oct 19th 2008 7:56AM
I definitely like the idea, but you'd think EA would be the first to get this treatment? I mean, they've released 2 FULL retail games on PSN already, and you'd think they'd want to push that. But then again, they have taken down demos (including Burnout Paradise's).
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 19th 2008 8:21AM
Downloadable titles....how many EA downloadable PSN titles can you think of?
Capcom has the most, so they get thier own store, I'm guessing Konami or Namco will get one next. I can't think of anything EA has made DLC at this moment in time.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 19th 2008 8:22AM
Oops sry, yeah, Burnout included, but in comparison to Capcom, they are still lacking.
