No no no no and no again. That is straight Bull! 5 dollars to unlock a character that's already on the disc? As much as I like the Soul Calibur series, I'm somewhat glad that I didn't buy this one.

not as bad as horse armor or anime kids on your F-16 since it actually gives you a full working character with unique moves. BUT it is a pile of bull nonetheless.

Namco claims that fans demanded this, like it was never in their plans to. well, the fans did want Namco to stop BSing and unlock the coding written on the disc since it's factory conception.

Darth Vader has been on the retail disc since launch. The 360 hackers proved it in video footage, back when the game launched.

Namco are making people pay to unlock the content thats already there...

tsk tsk

A big middle finger for you NAMCO BANDAI

@ birdshake, I agree. Maybe if they had enough money on the waist, I could buy this.

O wait, 1. I dont have Soul Calibur. 2. Even though I am a SW fan, $5 for a character unlock crazy.

Question:
Do they give you a tube of K-Y Gel with your purchase of this?

And one again Microsoft breaks their own rules. They say they won't charge us for content that is available for free on other systems...

Yoda is being sold on PSN as well, for the same price. So technically it's a fair trade.

I get what you mean but you should be smart enough to understand why it's being allowed, they charge PSN for Yoda and us for Vader.

I don't know. Again, MS said anything for free on other systems would have to be free as DLC for 360. Vader is included in the PS3 version, it doesn't matter if the PS3 version also charges for Yoda.

It definitely is breaking their rules. Putting Yoda up for $5 doesn't really change that.

Watch the download is going to be like 25 kilobites, because HE IS ALREADY ON THE DISC!! There is no way I'm paying for this since I ain't paying to access stuff on a disc I already payed for. Like what if you bought a movie for full price, and they were told you can unlock the deleted scenes by paying for them would you...?

I'm sorry, Dustin, but the correct response to this isn't "oh golly, now I get to fight Yoda vs. Vader, tee hee. That's totally worth five dollars."

This is another example of publishers holding back content from a game just to make you pay for it in the future. And even if you can live with that, you end up paying a ridiculous amount for this extra content. You've already paid $60 for 30+ characters (in addition to, you know, the rest of the game), but now people are willing to fork over almost 10% more for a single character? I feel genuinely sorry for anyone willing to bend over and take this willingly. Scamco strikes again and all the while they just sit in their offices laughing at the poor saps who fell for it.

£3.34-ish over here.. still... for what is essentually a patch it's ridiculous.. I just feel Namco must be going down hill & need the money, or just being plain greedy, like a certain company "___t__d_"
I have a job, 40 odd hours a week, buy games as I want them.. I can afford the patch very easily.. but I'm certainly not well off, I'll be too busy with another game for SC4..

Whatever next?, Tekken 6 with only twelve characters available, & pay 400MSP for each additional character that's already on the disc?

Yeah, I have to agree with a lot of people here. While I was excited about Vader eventually becoming available, I won't be paying $5 for something that's already on the disc. Stupid. I was kind of hoping Namco would release it for Halloween or something for the kids, but nah, making money trumps any and all respect for loyal costumers.

Boo, Namco, Boo!

Hmm.. 400 points for vader? I'll pass, since I hate Yoda and the Apprentice to start with. Mabye if they drop the price someday. Now if they release a 400 point set of Lightsabers for everyone else so I can make my own Jedi finally, that would be worth it.

Why so? N-B offered up a f**king school uniform for 200 points, not to mention the joke weapons/ultimate weapons which you can easily unlock. I wouldn't put it past them to demand $5 for the ability to unlock one character which is already on the disc.

Best part about this, is that Vader is already on the disk. People had hacked the game and were playing as him. I look forward to the reactions of people who pay 5$ for this and it takes up 128 kbs. :/

On my buddies modded console that is totally not modded in any way we were totally not playing Yoda vs Yader at his house a week or so after the game launched. We wouldn't ever dare think of using an altered copy of a game we purchased to get the content we paid for, that's just terrible and illegal.

thanks for screwing the people who bought your game Namco. We really appreciate it.

I would have maybe bought Vader if he was for a buck (MAYBE), but $5? I have a job and I could easily afford it, but who is going to spend 5 bucks ona character already on the disk? This is madness!!!

to make someone wait this long from release AND THEN to ask them for 5 dollars for a character that is OBVIOUSLY ON THE DISK already just to unlock that one character VADER or no is absolutely ridiculous. IF IN FACT soul calibur 4 was supported with more marketplace content to help someone pass the time inbetween that offered unique Create a [Skin not a] SOUL [theyre palette swaps for god sake,] items rather than things that you need to unlock it might have swayed me to pay the 5 for Vader.., But once again The Game seemed way too rushed and a step back from S.C. III with the exception of the graphics.., which doesnt really make a game. The addition of the armor breaking element of gameplay doesnt outweigh the fact that they removed complete move sets out of the Create a Character that was present in SC III. This game has become WAY TOO BORING, WAY TOO FAST. Im glad I got to play my friends copy before I opened mine. It's not worth $65 dollars after tax plus 5 for vader and dont even get me started on the generic limited editions versus the awesome ones with the siegfried nightmare faceplates of the U.K. and the exclusive tins.
