Mortal Kombat II vanishes from PSN
There's mystery afoot, dear gumshoes! One of the best-selling titles on the PSN (not to mention one of the best arcade fighters ever), Mortal Kombat II, has reportedly disappeared from the American PlayStation Store -- and from the download list of those who have already purchased the toasty title.
No official word has come from Sony or Midway about the disappearance, though some potential kombatants who contacted customer service were informed that the disappearance is probably due to a glitch caused by firmware update 2.50. With a little under a month before the release of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, this "Case of the Missing Brawler" really couldn't have come at a more inconvenient time.

Game is impossible to beat...
Al2x @ Oct 19th 2008 10:12PM
It's because Midway decided to port the uber-hard version that is in Arcade cabinets instead of the more consumer friendly console (PS1) version. But yeah, the furthest I got in story mode was passed the first fight, and that was pretty much cheating. I played the game maybe 6 times online at most, and never played it again...
Albanian_Killa @ Oct 19th 2008 10:43PM
I thought I was the only one that thought that! It's so damn hard it pisses me off >:(
My friend also kicks my ass when we play online. It's a good game, just hard as hell. It's a shame this glitch happened. Hopefully, they get it fixed.

Perhaps they removed it to prepare us for the disappointment of MK vs DC. Then again, is there any expectations for it?
Vcize @ Oct 19th 2008 9:04PM
Yes, there "is" expectations.
DangerMouse @ Oct 19th 2008 8:56PM
Glad i didn't delete it. I fire it up every once and a while for a quick play through, up until i get frustrated at the difficulty and quit.
I really wish there was a way to back up select items rather than having to do an entire back up of the hard-drive. Or at least be able to backup certain sections at a time.

I booted it up today and I thought the sound was just acting up on my TV. Then I turned my TV off and still heard the game music which was strangely being played through the PS3 itself. I guess that speaker in the PS3 does more than beeps. That was the only thing I noticed that was acting up. I'm guessing MK 2 didn't have online updating support built in so Sony is just pulling the file and replacing it with a patched version
Invisible Robot Meat @ Oct 19th 2008 9:21PM
Dude thats insane!
Chris @ Oct 19th 2008 9:07PM
Maybe they pulled it to put MK 1, 2, 3 and Ultimate in a package to coincide with MK vs. DC???
Yeah right, I wish.
Kizzle @ Oct 19th 2008 11:05PM
That already exists. It's called Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
It's basically the first three (and a half) games all in one...and it was awesome. And near impossible, just like most Midway arcade titles.
jason @ Oct 20th 2008 9:45AM
MK Trilogy was garbage. It was UMK3 with all characters. Definitely not a replacement for MK or MK2
Martin Bormann @ Oct 19th 2008 9:09PM
It's because one of the levels had a song containing a verse from the Bible (1 Samuel 18:27).
LuckyEMS @ Oct 19th 2008 9:15PM
holy shit

"Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king's son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife."

I hate Jonny Cage.
He should stay in the spike pit.
Mileena was hot.
mezzanine @ Oct 19th 2008 9:17PM
Whatever, I wasn't good at it anyway.
Hopefully there's a glitch that turns it into Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.
Just Mr ESC. @ Oct 19th 2008 9:44PM
FATALITY!!
CharleyTony @ Oct 19th 2008 10:18PM

tmmoore_nc @ Oct 19th 2008 10:18PM
So did the Burnout Paradise demo, but no one seems to care.
DangerMouse @ Oct 19th 2008 10:32PM
isn't that free though?
tmmoore_nc @ Oct 19th 2008 10:55PM

CesarSalad @ Oct 20th 2008 12:12AM

Jared MacKenzie @ Oct 20th 2008 5:12PM
