I still don't get why anyone is saying this game being like COD4 is a bad thing at all. Look at any game that has sequels, they are usually alike, the only time people change things is when its broken, and COD4 is far from broken. Also to everyone who is saying this is just expansion maps with new weapons, Did you forget about a whole new campaign mode with 4 player co-op?

Sorry I attached this to the first guy :-P I r cheater.

One time I was cornered by those things...Roundhouse...Pinned against a wall...Four of them heading straight for me...I knew I was dead because I unforunately had two Bolt-Actions. Tried to snipe'em but they started biting my arms...my legs were torn apart...I could see the bone...No, don't take me back...DON'T TAKE ME BACK!!! I can smell the blood...The FEAR!!! AUAUAAUUGUGHGHG!!!!!11!!1!!

Then I respawned and was like "yay :D".

The only thing i want to add, is that you haven't experienced terror till you're in the middle of a battle, and you can see dogs running at you while playing hardcore. One bite from the dog and you're gone. I'm tired of modern warfare. Infinity ward has let us all down by their lack of DLC or even playlist changes.

Let "us" all down? Speak for yourself, I'm satisfied. By the way, they have been testing new playlist for months now.

Sorry Jim, I didn't realize people were still getting pissy over one word these days. I too have been happy with CoD4, but when you compare the amount of DLC infinity ward has given us compared to Halo 3, it makes infinity ward look like fisher price. Granted I'm not a huge halo fan anymore, but people like us (sorry, don't want to group you in the US catergory), erm, people like ME, who played cod4 every day, are what helped bring it to the most played xbox live game. They could at least kick it into high gear with the PR stuff for some DLC.

I know they've been working on some new playlist changes, woopdy doo! I'm sure they'll release those right at holiday season to try and keep some people playing cod4. Honestly, I'm gonna pick up world at war and play the hell out of it. And when I'm tired of it, I'll go back to cod4. Maybe then they would have actually changed something.

Yeah, stupid game only providing me with a year of playability! what were they thinking!

Seriously? personally i've done over 48 hours of online game time and probably about half of that in single player. Any game that can give you good game play for over 30 hours these days is well worth it these days.

"but when you compare the amount of DLC infinity ward has given us compared to Halo 3, it makes infinity ward look like fisher price"

But you can't compare the two, H3 was the highest profile game launch for xbox ever, with more money put towards it and more after thought than any game before. COD4 had a ton of hype, but it didn't have the amount of financial or personnel support need to create the same amount of content. The halo franchise is just as much MS's baby as it is Bungie's, the COD series is just another game for MS.

I agree. They could make a lot more money if they would just release some more maps like Halo. I'm done with Halo, though. Bungie has been sucking it up lately with stupid decisions.

Friend gave me a beta key. I played it for about an hour and then went back to COD4. In my opinion, it's not enough of a change to go from COD4 to COD5, at least as far the multiplayer is concerned. I also thought the weapons were very unbalanced when compared to COD4. I shot a guy no less than 6 times with a Thompson within 10 seconds time, and he kills me with two shots from his BAR (no headshot). He didn't have juggernaut, so I don't know what happened there.

pray and spray maybe?
out of effective range for a Thompson?
a BAR is a rifle and a Thompson is an SMG, so while the BAR fires slower, it has higher damage, range, and accuracy.

No, that's what was annoying about the whole thing. I wasn't pray and spraying. On the big map with the tanks on it, this guy was up on one of those catwalks lying prone. He apparently didn't see me. I was crouched with the Thompson, took careful aim at his head, and fired multiple 1-2 bullet bursts. As I said, I hit him at least six times. He finally caught on that someone was shooting at him and took me out with two shots. I was well within range and regardless, I HIT HIM AT LEAST SIX TIMES with carefully aimed shots. He was prone, so all I could really see was his head. I guess I only hit him in the pinky six times.

totally lame . i feel so frustrated that smartA** players with the turbo trigger can kill you with the slowest and steady: the first rifle (SVT-40) or the G3 rifle weapon on COD 4. The glitch of Roundhouse makes the game impossible to win when the whole team is hiding under it. the artillery takes way to long to land and when it finally does nobody gets hit is just guess where the enemy are and shoot there. Tanks are so hard to destroy when you are about to destroy it the enemy can get out so fast that you are death no matter what, even thought you die 5 times trying to destroy it. well this are the points that it needs to be improve and i'm not the only one who thinks so. for me it feels like a bad copy of COD 4 and i might consider on switch to gears 2

If Treyarch can iron out the glitches and perhaps the annoying millisecond delay between shooting somene and their dropping, it will be a great game.

I think most of us were largely disappointed with the bonus maps in COD4 so this 'update' (or perhaps 'backdate') will be eagerly anticipated.

Cant wait till Nov 14th.

It's a cool game and while it's a bonus that the gameplay mechanics are nearly identical to COD4 it also makes it feel like I've been there and done that. If no other games were coming out I would pick it up but with so many games coming out in November, namely GOW2, I don't see this game getting much traction.

I was playing the Beta and it felt something was missing.
I popped in COD 4 and the control just felt a little bit tighter, or it could just be the guns.

I am very happy to be in the beta. But...

-Sound: The game is too quiet. The game lacks the drama and energy of COD4. Doesn't feel urgent, except when the dogs come out.

-Gameplay: Feels like an arcade version of COD4. Maybe the brighter colors contribute to this, but there's a lack of seriousness & gravity.

World At War takes too much from COD4, but it also misses the best thing about it. You don't get the photo-realistic, battle-simulation effect from COD4, which was the mind-blowing part of the game.

Treyarch probably was told to copy COD4, so it's not necessarily their fault, but you can't create a great game following someone else's formula. You have to break more rules than were broken here, if any were actually broken.

Unforutnately i was ver dissapointed with the Beta. Yes it is fun to play but so is CoD4. It seems this is the same game as CoD4 with updated art work. Its almost like buying the same book with a different cover. Simply put, adding a few dogs is not enought for me to buy this game vs. Gears of War 2 or Fabel (which release around the same time). If you own CoD4 and have to make a choice, you can wait for CoD5 for Christmas!

I liked the beta. The multiplayer feels more like an expansion pack for COD4 (Now with not so modern combat!) but when you're building on a winning formula there is nothing really wrong with that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, some could say.

I did have this game on reserve but after playing the Beta, I canceled it and put my 5 bucks on deadspace.

Though I did have fun playing, it just feels like playing COD4 with a WWII mod. Which I don't think warrants paying 60 bucks for.

COD:WaW is not a game its a Mod of COD4 treyarch can't put out something original so they just made a mod. This game will be decent because of it being a mod of COD4 but still why can't they make up there own hud and many other things and become different O yea because they did that once and it was the worst COD ever!

on a side note to the people that flame me hating treyarch re-play COD3 and tell me that it was the best of the series or even tell me that it is better then 2 or 4, I haven't played the original for PC but hell that probably bets COD3. Point don't hate my opinion and replay with a smart ass remark that a bunch of other people agree with you because they don't see how COD:WaW isn't a Mod.

This game is welcoming and it may feel like cod4 to some but i like the environments and color is brings graphically it topples cod4.Its like looking at gears one to gears two better lighting and color all around.Il ike the fact that you can be japanese or germans as enemy insttead of stupid spetznaz which always felt like i was playing a made up military in cod4.

I love my wwii guns and the melee seems to work better in this game as well as the pistols.

WHY DID THEY PUT JUGGERNAUT BACK IN THIS GAME!? many people thought that there would be crappy guns with no attatchments... MORE guns with MORE attatchments. oh and by the way... THIS GAME IS GREAT! as i said once already.

I had no reservations against Treyarch, but after trying the beta myself... it just doesn't play well for me at ALL. At first I assumed my failure to get the groove was just inexperience but it really is just like COD4 - the things that change it are 1) every speed level has been increased, heavy weapons move like assault rifles, assault rifle like SMG, SMG very fast which makes run and spray tactics much more effective and 2) the outside forces that you can use are significantly more powerful to a fault in some cases. For instance the artillery lasts a substantial amount of time and is very randomized - don't mind it though, it works better than an airstrike is all. The dogs are much harder than you would guess; they just keep killing until someone is prepared enough to take them out, and they are tricky (thought I could hide on some barrels at one point but they hopped up some boxes lol). The tank is by far the worst though - took me eight satchel charges to defeat one, and my first time using it I got a 10 kill streak, including killing the other tank. The sound effects are bizarre; sometimes people running makes multiple footstep sounds a second, sounding like fifteen people running at once. At the same time people can be firing guns within twenty five feet of me but it sounds so quiet you don't know what direction it's coming from which is kind of unforgivable to me.

The game was fun to an extent but those who claim it's graphically, audibly or gameplay wise superior to COD4 must just be eager for a new game because I did NOT feel that it had anything over it. Anyway hopefully others find more to enjoy if they are eager to play it but it didn't convince me to buy, especially with Left 4 Dead around the corner.
