La Cucaracha is mexican not spanish. I'm glad he didn't say the Yankee Doodle is from Iraq.

The first time I heard La cucaracha was in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

From all the Billy Joel songs they choose the Entertainer?

La Cucaracha is Spanish. It was very popular in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution, but it is an old Spanish folk song.

actually "la cucaracha" is referring to "dope" and the plant wasn't consumed in Europe until late 1800's and the song was heard during the independence of Mexico around 1810. During the revolution it was already an old song.

That's where the "roach" term came from...

"...we still can't tell if this makes us more or less excited for the game."

So you're implying that some level of excitement actually exists for this game. Huh. Interesting...

If this sells more than a million of copies, I'll loose faith in gaming.

Considering that the tracklist of this game is basically like which sauces you want on a turd and vomit sub, I'd say about the same level of non-excitement.

To be fair, the linked article points out that it only listed 48 of the 50 songs in the track list. The other two songs are:

"Closer" by Nine Inch Nails
"America, Fuck Yeah" by DVDA

Uptown Girl and Piano Man, 'nuff said. THOSE SONGS ROCK! No, now seriously, Billy Joel is pop. If my mom (who is 65) enjoys it, then it probably shouldn't be classified as rock.

There are songs like The Stranger that a lot more Rock. I guess I can see some songs being more Pop like though. So, I guess we can both be right? Or both be wrong.

Billy Joel Didn't make "The Entertainer", it was Scott Joplin at the turn of the 19th century, it's almost a 100 year old song...

I think they're just trying to appeal to more people. I don't think I know a single person over 22 who enjoys half of the crap in Rock Band or Guitar Hero. And the Wii is being marketed to anyone between the ages of 2 and "really old but not in coma". So why would they put Fall Out Boy and Metallica on Wii Music?

You're right. People over 22 hate music from bands like Metallica, The Who, Oasis, The Police, The Grateful Dead, David Bowie, STP....

Those are obviously groups that the kids of today are into.

Yeah, you must not know many people. If anything I would say that the songs in Rock Band are more geared towards people 22+. My parents have purchased and play Rock Band all the time with their friends. I mean you've got Metallica, Blue Oyster Cult, Ramones, Rolling Stones, The Who, David Bowie, Rush, The Cars, Kansas, Boston, Duran Duran, Black Sabbath, and a ton more.

Considering my wife and I are in our late 30's and my mom and dad are in their late sixties, we stand as shining examples of why you are, well, completely and totally wrong. Be that as it may, I am more convinced than ever that while Nintendo clearly has a whole lot of people who really seem to know what they're doing this generation, one of those things apparently does not include marketing to me. While the Wii Music selection is absolutely hilarious in its randomness, it seems to fall in line with a large percentage of their titles that appeal to me not in the least. While I wouldn't call myself a hardcore gamer, I am definitely a serious enthusiast- I have owned every single Sega, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo platform since 1985- but the Big N's choices have made leave my poor Wii collecting dust in the corner while I am distracted by the wiles of the 360 and the PS3. Way to go Nintendo- your shareholders may be dancing in the streets, but Mario's really lonely in my house.
