LittleBigPlanet hitting Europe 'no later than' week of Nov. 3
After having its original release dates foiled by a batch of culturally insensitive song lyrics, LittleBigPlanet is set to roll out worldwide, with moments to spare before post-beta withdrawal symptoms drive us into a plushie-hugging state of catatonia. While we've noted the new October 27th release date for America, our pals in Europe have gone without a concrete arrival date.
Oh, sorry to build it up like that, but there's still no solid date. You guys will have to do with a somewhat mushy release window, as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the absurdly adorable SackBoys will "start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis."
At worst, you've got two (agonizing) weeks left. At best, you've already found an early copy, in which case you should heed our warning not to insert it into a PlayStation 3 before the official release date. We hear it spits out killer bees through the Blu-ray slot. And burns your house down.

Just a little note: For us English types games are ALWAYS released on Fridays (The only exceptions I can think of in the last 5 years have been Halo 3 and GTA IV) so that'll probably be Friday the 7th
Haggard @ Oct 20th 2008 7:42AM
Didn't CoD4 come out on a saturday?
Megadanxzero @ Oct 20th 2008 7:44AM
Perhaps... There goes my theory that only really awesome games don't get released on Fridays...
Tom @ Oct 20th 2008 7:56AM
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. So in actual fact, given today is monday, the worst case will be having to wait 18 days now instead of 4.
Haggard @ Oct 20th 2008 11:40AM
Don't worry, I checked and CoD4 was friday. I guess I just suffered at the hands of slow postmen.
Or maybe I had that day off college and thought it was a weekend.
please @ Oct 20th 2008 7:32AM
Fuck Hussein Obama I will be to busy playing this game to vote for him
Premature ejaculation man @ Oct 20th 2008 7:56AM
Priorities well placed right?
Archon @ Oct 20th 2008 8:00AM
"Are you Premature ejaculation man? If So, Login Here."
I tried but it didn't work :(
Metal Geario 360 @ Oct 20th 2008 8:26AM
You sir, have no life...
At all...
dark_inchworm @ Oct 20th 2008 9:13AM
If you're too busy playing LBP to vote for *anybody*... you can go eat a bowl of dicks.
SKEstes @ Oct 20th 2008 9:44AM
Well, fortunately for the planet I would guess you're too young to actually vote for *anyone*
Tom @ Oct 20th 2008 8:00AM
Yeah i was thinking the same thing, which would mean 18 days left rather than 2 weeks...
By saying "no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November" could mean a whole load of different things, but hopefully it means they are looking at trying to do a mid-week launch (a small, but welcome consolation i guess)
Megadanxzero @ Oct 20th 2008 8:03AM
Yeah, that is possible, and more likely than usual considering the fact that it was delayed at the last minute. Alternatively it could mean that it comes out on Halloween if they can get it distributed fast enough

First off the lyrics aren't culturally insensitive. Nor are they offensive. They say nothing derrogatory about the Muslim community. They're words from a text that the group considers holy.
It'd be like saying that a game containing passages from the bible is culuturally insensitive.
That said, I STILL am seeing ads that claim LBP will be out this Tuesday (Best Buy most noteably comes to mind) Now I don't remember when exactly news of the recall broke, but I'm wondering if it wasn't in time to pull the ad.
Hyams @ Oct 20th 2008 8:27AM
It's because it's considered offensive to put the words of God (ie. the Koran) with music.
It's a different story with Christians, who love to put the words of God (ie. the Bible) with music.
dukrous @ Oct 20th 2008 10:33AM
I don't buy that offensive stuff...the song was recorded by a muslim, so how offensive could it be?
anantha92 @ Oct 20th 2008 12:38PM
I live in malaysia and i see songs which praise allah all the time. These aren't prayers, they are actual songs composed by muslims which consist of a few lines praising allah. Im no muslim or anything but im just stating what i have seen and heard on the TV.
Booxatron @ Oct 20th 2008 3:00PM
anantha-
Maybe so, but the problem in this case is direct quotes from the Quran being put to music. I guess just simply referencing Allah or any other part of Islam in song is okay.
Billy McCauley @ Oct 20th 2008 3:25PM
I think it's not to upset the other Religious Communities, they could get quite fired up about the Qu'ran being qouted - by them I mean the Church Of England - and I'm sure Sony want to see Resistance 2 have a somewhat smooth launch in the UK.
Imadogg @ Oct 20th 2008 8:10AM
I wish I had more than one friend with a PS3 so I could try this game out. He doesn't seem interested in it unfortunately :(
And Muslims have to stop complaining about every single mention of our culture or text, making people hate us more for delaying games.
Brodie-san @ Oct 20th 2008 8:24AM
You need more friends. Post your PSN name here and I'm sure a bunch of people would be happy to add you.
Cellien @ Oct 20th 2008 11:33AM
Lol, I'm the same way. I literally do not know one other person personally that has a PS3 besides me. Everyone has 360, and I mean EVERYONE. I have a 360 too, but NO ONE has a PS3 but me so I can't ask a buddy of mine to play a game of LPB. :( Luckily, my wife digs the game so we can play on one TV. :)
Imadogg @ Oct 20th 2008 4:27PM
I mean I don't even have a PS3, I have a 360 and all my friends do, except one. And he plays Rock Band all day so he doesn't even care about this game.
I gotta find some way to play it.
Hyams @ Oct 20th 2008 8:25AM
That's a really akward time for me. I could either be at home or at my Uni house when the game releases, depending on the actual date. Which address should I stick on the pre-order?
The sooner we get a concrete date the better.
2PeteShakur @ Oct 20th 2008 8:29AM
Yeah the game will be available to purchase on the 7th of Nov. In the meantime, I'm get the US version. :)
Infoaddict @ Oct 20th 2008 8:31AM
Muslim here. I don't care that these verses were going to be in the game and neither do any of my Muslim friends or family. I'm actually quite angry that the game has been delayed.
Lavat @ Oct 20th 2008 11:15AM
I wont get this game...And I have said it before...I do not buy stuff from a company that bows down to muslims...
scarrebomb @ Oct 20th 2008 11:54AM
Who's brilliant idea was it to have music written by a Muslim in the game to begin with? I've heard fatwa's that condemn pretty much ALL music in Islam (with the exception of koranic chant).
Anyone with even half a brain could have seen this coming. It seems that more often than not, submission to Allah means that you are going to be made of raw nerves and are ready to get offended and violent about pretty much anything.
PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Oct 20th 2008 11:57AM
I lucked out and got a copy yesterday. Somehow at Best Buy there was an actual full retail copy in with the pre-order copies in that section. When I took it to the register it even said DO NOT SELL PRE-RELEASE but, she just clicked enter!
I didn't get into the Beta and let me just say that this game is my favorite game of all time. It captures such a magical and wymsical feel. Like the first time you played mario as a child. The best description I can give it is its like your favorite book as a child that has come to life in a vibrant world. This game will really resonate with every gamer young and old.
The servers were down but just playing through the levels and content creation tutorials was epic. Sony & MM really got this one right. To bad there is the short delay, but, it is worth the wait.
Danshini @ Oct 20th 2008 1:17PM
Ok fair enough as long it isnt delayed even more thats fine
I did get a early release copy of the game and i took it out the of the case and then i put it into the drive
then i realised that it was a X360
vote me down all you want, it sounded better in my head anyway, as do most things.
Squozen @ Oct 20th 2008 9:36PM
My copy shipped yesterday. /shrug
