Major Nelson teases early NXE access for some

Major Nelson's latest podcast hints that at least some Xbox loyalists will get to test ~~drive~~ navigate the New Xbox Experience before the general public (at least those with enough storage space) gets its hands on it Nov. 19.

Speaking about the NXE during his show, the good Major said, "You want to get your hands on it and I don't blame you, because you'll enjoy it. In fact, if you want to get your hands on it, let me just say this: keep an eye on my blog next week. If you want to get your hands on it early, that's all I'm going to say."

would be nice but I am not a big enough MS fanboy to do anything extra for it ... I'll get it when it comes out ... If it were Home I might do a little something extra but even that might be stretch

I still think the green buttons don't look the tastiest though.

If the supposed themes v2 change the colours of that from green to say.....orsm, then it may be the first theme I ever buy

I'm guessing if you buy "Scene It? Box Office Smash" you get the upgrade early due the fact the full games needs the new avatars.

Amazon says game is released on the 30th.

I don't give a crap about the new UI. But I would love the feature to load a game onto the HDD. Viva Pinata 2 is written so poorly, you can hear the optical drive seek all over the place just to bring up pictures of the seeds.

Honestly, this is something the writers of VP:TIP could have gotten right, but they didn't. Like a lot of other things they could have done better in the sequel.

Why is this so hyped up. It's just a poor copy of XMB? It's not like it's a game or anything.

It has a lot of great new featuers, and we're finally getting a new, cleaner and smoother interface for the 360. Are you going to pretend if Sony completely re-did their dashboard and added a bunch of new features it wouldn't be a big deal?

And I love how ifnorant some of you fanboys are. If anything, XMB is just a copy of Windows Media Center, which has been using an interface like this for many years.

Funny thing is that you think you bother people who like the 360. The truth is you generally just sound like a twit and thus have no effect at all.

But I don't understand the huge circle jerk. 3 articles a week for 3 weeks so far for nothing but a new dash? Sorry, nothing but pre-hype for a new dash?

The reason they're doing this early-access thing is to compete with the attention Sony's been getting over their online Betas (LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, SOCOM, Killzone 2). Microsoft want some of that attention, too.

Thing is, I don't really like the way Sony did their Betas. It wasn't for feedback, it was to generate hype. There is no way in any of the betas to submit feedback, and they were released too late for the feedback to mean anything. It was all about spinning the hype machine, and unfortunately, it worked. Microsoft has been experimenting with Viral marketing for a while, but nothing got the kind of attention the recent PS3 Betas have been having.

I'd hate if this kind of beta system became the norm for the console industry. Please somebody just do it right - if it's ready for widespread testing, make it available to all.

Give it to the 20,000 Gamer point and up crowd !

The new dashboard looks like a quick cash in to get kids and old people on board when they see it displayed on the Walmart kiosk.

Looking forward to the disc to hard drive function mostly.
I wince at the sounds of my disc drive sometimes, especially when playing a game like GTAIV.
