New games this week: Fable 2 edition

We're giving the top spot, the crown, the brass ring to Fable 2, but this is a terrifyingly good week for video game releases. There's a whole host of terrific-looking games like FarCry 2, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Legendary, the list goes on. Oh, and Wii Music. Sorry, almost forgot.

So, which will you be picking up this week, and which will you put onto the backburner, to retrieve only when you've sated yourself with your main gaming course?

I don't want to say I'm putting anything on the "backburner," because that has a negative connotation. I will say that I've spent almost $200 in games the last few weeks, and the ones I'm really looking forward to (Fallout 3/Left 4 Dead/COD5) aren't even out yet.

I just started Dead Space last night after finishing the new Brothers in Arms, and I have to complete that game before moving on to anything else.

This is going to be a rad winter.

Dead Space is pretty awesome so far. I'm hella impressed with how streamlined the controls, interface, and camera are, especially after recently playing Too Human, Siren: Blood Curse, and Silent Hill: Homecoming. Plus, it looks so good. I hope that EA Redwood uses that engine for all their future 3rd person games for the next couple of years.

Dead Space is blowing my mind right now. The other stuff EA has done for it is awesome too, like the on-line comic.

I misinterpreted that as a really, really flat screen resolution.

I really hope the PC controls on dead space aren't as bad as I'm hearing they are....

They are and according to EA it's intentional. Just plug a 360 controller in, works fine.

It's not a question of bad controls. It's why the hell do I need to buy a 360 controller when I have a perfectly good mouse+keyboard.

I'll be picking up Fable 2,Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia,and Far Cry 2

FarCry 2 for shizzle and I hope Spiderman turns out to be good as well so I can rent that for a weekend playthrough. As for Fable 2 I dont know if I can invest that much time in a game like that with Dead Space, Call of Duty: WaW Beta and Far Cry 2 on my gaming schedule...

Yeah, this is getting tough. I have a huge backlog of games now. Dead Space has been a great game (with a top notch engine). Now to have Fable 2 and Fallout coming. Its brutal!

Tell me about it I figure by the end of this buffet of gaming goodness I'll be even closer to you and your 28k GS. LOL! Just hit 20k last week with SW:TFU

deadspace is coming today from gamefly, and i think fable 2 is coming later this week, so i can do those first and wait for the other games later.

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet should have been game of the week, yo... :-P

the only one of my reserves coming out this week (midnight tonight, actually) is Fable 2. Fallout 3 and Gears 2 are a week and weeks respectively. i'm definitely picking up Eternal Sonata for PS3, though i didn't reserve it, and i may opt to give Far Cry 2 a try, but lately i've been kinda bummed out on straightforward fps' (that is until Killzone 2). still, i guess it's a good week, if only for Fable 2, Fallout 3, and PS3's versions of Rock Band 2, Eternal Sonata and Bioshock.

I think the whole point of Far Cry 2 is that it isn't straightforward, at least by my understanding...

I'll be renting Wii Music and Spider-Man this week. Probably end up buying Wii Music, but I want to see the song selection and stuff, first.

Also if it's actually coming out, Ikki Tousen for the PS2. Kotaku said it is, but I find Joystiq's list to usually be more accurate.

Got Fable 2 this weekend. It's worth the wait. Seriously.

Will be nabbing Spider-Man WoS as I wait for Fallout 3 as well.

im getting far cry 2 for the pc this week, im gonna wait till around thanksgiving or christmas break so i will have time to play it

A lot of great games this week... I'm supposed to be saving money not spending it! :-\

85 titles and not 1 that interests me. I suppose it's good for the wallet...

The reason NONE of us have replied to your comment trying to persuade you to buy a game is because we really shouldn't have to.

If you stayed up to date...scratch that...if you even GLANCED at the blog every once in a while, you would REALIZE just how awesome the games coming out this week are. Fable 2 is a supposedly a master piece, and although i don't know much about any of the other games coming out this week, but lets be honest, the last few weeks have been filled with glorious games.

You, sir, do not deserve the right to lay eyes on this blog.

So... all the games this week are awesome because only Fable 2 is awesome. I don't have or want a 360, because I've never seen anything that makes me want one.

Also: Ad Hominum is the best defence.

I must have Fable 2. I've been waiting for this since I first started reading about Peter M.'s vision for the game nearly 10 years ago...

I;m pretty sure game developers hate students and do all they can to make them fail their exams.
They decided to release fallout, far cry, COD, Dead space, left 4 dead and all other goodies right before my exams start in the next 2 weeks.

Actually, I'm pretty sure a group of concerned Muslim gamers asked nicely for a patch to remove an entirely accidental potential controversy, and Sony went into total panic mode as a result.

I ALMOST decided to get Fable II, but I have decided not to for now. Getting Far Cry 2 (I wish they would have named it something else) instead.

Wow, I'm just about halfway through Saints Row 2, halfway through Fracture, not started Dead Space and getting Fable 2 tomorrow. Its crazy town.

Can anyone tell me if My Japanese Coach is useful? I have most of the basics, I just need to learn words and better sentence structure.

I played it for like half an hour. I was learning the kana, but I already knew that so I stopped. I think its an ok supplement but it is not going to teach someone to speak Japanese.

I cant decide if I want to go to the midnight launch. Its very tempting, but Im getting old and going with little sleep into work does not sound fun.

On Tuesday I have a date with some necromorphs.
