It's nice to know that not all recent LittleBigPlanet articles are depressing. This one should brighten up one's day -- or at least it will for the Aussies down under. SCE Australia plans to give away a no-strings-attached free copy of LittleBigPlanet with every PS3 purchased this holiday season. The promotion was supposed to begin on October 23, which was the original LBP launch date in Australia.
With LittleBigPlanet currently delayed, this promo will be effective starting at a later time. Australia has yet to have an official new release date finalized. Optimistically speaking, Australia's shouldn't be too far from Europe's release timeframe of "week of November 3."

Finally, a game Australia doesn't have to censor!

And now we wait for Europe and North America to follow.
I think Microsoft's ideas of outselling the PS3 this Xmas may have just died.
A 160GB PS3, with drakes fortune and LBP for $499, or a failure prone 360 "elite" for $399.
You would have to be nuts to waste your money on the Xbox.

Overhyped game. Overhyped list of exclusives. Still the best console of them all. Not to my standards. Try harder Sony and friends.

what do you want them to do? come over to your house and do your dishes? mop the floors? and then answer your phones?
the PS3 is far above and beyond a game console and already does more than anything else out there on the market

infact, the console itsself is to my standards. what I meant to say was, the games and the games list is not to my standards?
doing my dishes would be great but securing better games as exclusives (FFXIII) and putting forward a greater creative front (no more churnouts, long promised games arriving like Killzone 2 etc) would be much much better.
games as innovative as the console would be a great standard. User generated platforming is hardly innovative. There's tonnes of flash games that have already done that and no matter how hard they try they all feel LAST or PRIOR TO LAST gen. I was promised a next gen experience. Where the hell is it?
(Would you want Sony doing your dishes?)

The PSN is where the creativity and innovation is. That's because it costs less to develop downloadable games than it does to go full retail with a disc. Plus they're pretty lenient about what types of games they allow, so you see alot of neat, niche games there.
The games industry is what you're whining about. When devs making AA or AAA titles sink (literally) tens of millions of dollars and 2-3-4 years into the dev cycle, they can't afford to take a gamble. If GTA4 got panned when it was released, it would have sunk the company.
Also we're seeing alot of PC devs on consoles now which is not good for gaming. They only do maybe 2 genres of games well and are extremely slow to develop, then release with bugs saying "it's in the patch". Consoles used to be much stronger for gaming for the simple fact that console game devs didn't have to spend as much to develop, so they'd take more risks.
Complain about the symptoms but the only cure is lower development costs. Again, that's where the PSN and maybe even XBL come to life. MM and LBP is a rare example of a wacky concept and a sugar daddy (Sony) paying for development. Sony soaks up the risk, and Sony and MM reap the rewards.

And the trade off for the free games is that Sony tells us what target to bomb?
