Rock Band 2 bonus DLC revealed, coming Nov. 4
121
Harmonix has revealed (via IGN) the identity of the mysterious 20 downloadable tracks from Rock Band 2. There are no heavy-hitters to be found on the list; instead, we get a set of predominantly lesser-known artists such as The Chevelles, Authority Zero and Opiate for the Masses. The free DLC, for those who register, is coming Tuesday, November 4 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (although don't be surprised if PS3 owners have to wait until the following Thursday). Full set list after the break.

Yeah, NOBODY should be bitching.
You get to listen to music you have never heard before, and that should be a treat in itself. I remember back when I bought GH1 and 2, crawling through the bonus setlists and digging sounds I have never heard before. Awesome songs like Cheat on the Church, Push Push (Lady Lightning), Even Rats, All of This, Arterial Black, Raw Dog, and CAVEMEN REJOICE!!!!

Shame on me for expecting at least 1 decent song to be on that list. Really Tmac after all your years and yet you still think that businesses will do nice things from time to time.

Thank you for stating what I clearly just said above. Don't worry though I'm sure your comment was helpful to someone!

This is such a big disappointment! I was expecting a few clunkers, sure, but instead they give me a list with only a few recognizable names on it (and none of them seem particularly fun to play). Harmonix has really let me down on this one. They're free songs so that's good, but I thought that at least some of the free twenty songs that were coming my way for buying their game would be interesting.

It's cool to see Endeverafter. And I haven't heard a lot of those bands so they might not be bad =/

Apparently I'm the only one who is happy to see a list of bands I'm mostly never heard of. Have no doubt, Harmonix has displayed nothing but excellent taste in music choices to date in my opinion. If they have a platter of fresh new choices to serve up, I'll scarf it.

And I can't stand Metallica. They need to fill in both ends of the challenge spectrum. Chances are good that a lot of this is going to skew to the high end though, given their previous patterns on lesser-known stuff.

To each his own, I suppose. Most of the songs on RB1/RB2 (with a few exceptions) that I had never heard of I ended up HATING. Hated to listen to, hated to play, so much so that I would rather stay an extra 5 minutes late at work and get credit for beating the song on RB than I would actually play through the song on RB to get credit (and unlock the songs that I was actually looking forward to).
A few exceptions though, maybe a couple in here, but I doubt I'll be able to get through them all (probably will give up if I loathe the first 3 or 4). I found a ton more unheard of songs that I ended up liking on GH3. I guess that means I have shitty taste in music, since everyone seems to love the songs on RB more.

WHERE IS "THE TOUCH"!!!
Now that I have that out of my system, the only thing that is seriously disappointing is that there is no Freezepop on the list.

i either read or someone told me that there's not a freezepop song on the list because they didn't have anything ready. here's hoping they'll release something eventually. until then, i'm going to hold out on getting this. out of curiosity, which is your favorite freezepop track?

It sucks that Rock Band 2 had to come out so soon after Rock Band and invalidate their claim that the game was a music platform, but it's great that they keep giving out so much content. 20 free songs? $5 unlock of all or RB1's music? That's badass.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing... until they said all DLC was cross compatible. Which means it is a music platform, because even though you bought a new game, you aren't required to buy it to continue to enjoy all the DLC, and all the DLC you already own still works with it.

It's not Rock Band 2, it's Rock Band v2.0; aka Rock Band without as many "wtf" annoying interface/playability functions.

Well, to be honest, I never knew what to expect from the bonus DLC, so I can't say I'm "disappointed" or "let down" I recognise Shaimus, who last appeared in Guitar Hero 1, Underoath, Hollywood Undead, and a few others. I'm just excited for more Rock Band Songs!

It's funny 'cause I'm not into music so much, so majority of the bands that were on the RB2 disc I had never heard of either. But I still bought the game. Hell, back when Guitar Hero 1 came out, I didn't known many of the songs/bands on that disc, either, yet I still bought that! It's all about how fun it is to play the songs, not about how well-known they are (...unless you're singing the song, that is).
So, yup, free songs area awesome.
