Wal-Mart, Target not fully recalling LittleBigPlanet discs?

According to Thatvideogameblog, some major retailers have not gotten the memo on the LittleBigPlanet recall and held their midnight launches last night. The crew phoned numerous stores in their area -- namely Wal-Mart and Target chains -- and most stores seem to still be set on bringing out the title today. If you've got an itch to play the game early (scratch that ... we mean "on time"), you could possibly swing by your local shop and see what's going down over there.

Current copies of LittleBigPlanet include the song which caused the delay; however, a patch removing the song will be released alongside the official new release date for reprinted discs. Both new and current copies will end up being identical and will function just the same.

Great news!!!

I got my copy about 3 days ago ... There was actually a full retail copy mixed in with the pre-orders at Best Buy! When I took it to the register it said "DO NOT SELL PRE-RELEASE ITEM" or something to that effect ... The young lady just clicked Enter and BAM I had an early copy of LBP!!!

It not only going to win GOTY but it's also (IMO) the best game of all time. EVAR.

...darn pre-ordering bites me in the rear again

It was my first time pre-ordering a game. This was not the outcome I expected. At the same time, I'd rather not support a business Like Wal-mart or Sam's Club.

Sony needs to lift the delay and let stores with the game in-stock go ahead and sell it!

I had a preorder from Best Buy and got an email yesterday saying that they're recalling the game. I called up Best Buy to cancel the order and get it somewhere else, when the person on the line told me that they would be shipping the game, then recalling it and shipping out the new one.

I tried to buy a copy at Walmart this morning and the sale wouldn't go through!!!! Ah man it sucks coming so close!

well if you cant get one at walmart go to Blockbuster. my bb had copies for sale and for rent. so you might want to try there. also i work for walmart and the store i work for had them out too but i told them about it and they scanned them and said they can still sell them bc the computer didnt tell them they couldnt. lol

I was at my local walmart at midnight last night. They had seven copies, one of which is now mine. No problem getting it.

The cashier even said he had read online about Sony recalling LBP, but still sold me a copy anyway.

That said, LBP rocks! I was up all night playing. Lots of fun and I may even get an EYE to make use of the pics option.

i picked up a copy at midnight at walmart. however i went back this morning at 8 to get a second one, but when i arrived they had already pulled them. i asked for it but they told me they werent being sold. the register told them "not allowed" when scanned.

Who said the disc was being reprinted?

The online patch.

They allready said if you don't have the internet then you will not get the patch. That is why they are being safe and reprinting them.

You guys think that Gamestop will have game already or not yet? I did get a call that the game was changed to Oct. 27, but when I heard about this should I just wait?

The one near me didn't.

The scholars at my local GS still think it is releasing on Nov. 4th...

I have a hard time believeing they can reprint, package and ship every copy and have it in stores in that short of time.

I'm making the rounds at lunch time to see if anyone is selling them.

I pretty much have access to all the major retailers on one street corner... so why not?

Yeah, I checked TRU's website yesterday and they had the ship date marked as the 21st still. I may change my Gamestop preorder and buy it there instead today...if they're in the store.

Just tried at Target 5 minutes ago, they had 3 copies and I asked for all of them. He rang it up and it wouldn't pull up a price, then he checked the system saying they couldn't sell it till the 11th. I HELD 3 COPIES IN MY HANDS!!!! :(

For some reason the walmart website showcases that it will ship 11/11/08 any news on that guys? Either way I should probably check my walmart later today. Wish me luck!

They didn't know why it wasn't in the system and they got the store manager (eventually) down and he said he couldn't even do it w/o calling corporate (if i was willing to wait) and i knew there was no point.

THE COMPUTERS HAVE BEEN UPDATED!

Yeah, I was at Wal-mart last night for Fable II because I'd given up on getting a copy of LBP. They had a whole box of LBP games, but one of the guys knew about the recall. They tried to ring up friggin Fable II and some computer error came up. Even though the Gamecrazy down the street was selling the damn thing, they wouldn't sell Fable II to me for some god forsaken reason. I'm sure it'd be even more difficult to get LBP.

Seriously... Sony is FORCING the deletion of the song? Even if I get the real copy of the game, I'll lose the song? It doesn't offend me, and if Sony chooses to edit the game, then they lost the sale. I refuse to purchase any edited game, back from Spiderman when they edited it because of the Twin Towers, to C&C3's level deleting because of anthrax. You edit a game, you lose my money.

You'd be pretty silly if you actually skip this game because they are changing a SONG. I understand where you're coming from, and I'm all for standing up for my principles, but a SONG really isn't going to alter the game/experience much.

Just think, if they had chosen a different song over this one in the first place, it wouldn't be an issue, no changes would be made, and you wouldn't even have noticed. They really aren't removing any content, such as in your other examples. Don't think of this as REMOVING or CENSORING, think of it as REVISING.

Games are constantly revised while being created, this time it just happened to occur after the game went gold instead of before.

So if they're going to put a patch why change the release date?

Because not everyone with a PS3 has an internet connection, so Sony figures to be safe, they would recall all of the discs so non-internet PS3 users will not be in danger of their brains exploding from the naughty bad horrible words.

Or something.

Although, I gotta say this, it'd be completely stupid to buy LBP with no internet connection. It's all about the sharing and level creation. 20+ levels on the disc is just the beginning.

I got my local target to sell me one (noon, 10/21). Had to get a manager but he just rang it up as "merchandise".

yup..I literally just got back from Toys "R" Us and they definitely sold me all of their copies...

I have already talked to people planning to do just that.

I have a feeling this pandering to the Muslim community is going to result in enraged gamers finding elaborate ways to somehow make anti-islam levels for LBP. Hopefully with amusing results.

I checked around 12:30 est:

-Walmart
-Target
-ToysRus
-Blockbuster
-Best Buy

Only Walmart and ToysRus had it in stock. And both wouldn't sell it to me since their computers have been updated. So, moral is most places probably will not have it.

My friend and I got our copies at 1204 last night and the 3 dudes behind us didn't. Thanks again Wal-Mart. I think the computer cut off the sales just after we got our copies. Still can't play online though. Gotta get those SP trophies

Called Blockbuster, Toy-R-us, Wal-Mart, and Target. They were all aware of the recall, so no go. The guy at Target told me that if anyone was selling it they could be stuck with a stiff fine. Whatever.
Good that some people got it, but for the rest of us...well, we'll just wait while you rub it in our faces :P

Someone on here said they bought one from toys r us. I called them to confirm they had them in stock and they did. Im working so I sent my girlfriend to buy it and they was checking the computer at the cashier but they sold it to her eventually. This was just 10 min ago approximately 2:25 EST.
