E3 2009 brings back spectacle; June 2-4 at LACC

The event will not be open to the public as it was previously rumored, but it appears that admission will be as lax as we remember it. Expect tens of thousands of people to converge on the LACC next June. More details to follow.

Actually it wasn't the ESA that wanted to change the way E3 was run it was the gaming companies, Sony was the main one, they complained to the ESA that they did not like spending a ton of money on their booths to impress people especially John Q public, this is straight from 2 people, one of which works for ESA and the other works for the event company that helps put together E3. The ESA started charging dues to survive because most of the ESA's revenue came from charging admission to people attending E3. Once E3 was closed to the public, the ESA needed to charge dues to survive.
......End Rant....

hopefully they lost enough money over the past two years to make them learn their lesson permanently.

OMG. Please Joystiq, change "LACC" in the headline! When I read it I thought "E3 2009 is going to be at Los Angeles Community College?!" That place is a sh*thole. Please don't scare your L.A. readers like that. I demand you change your headline :D (LACC is the abbreviation of the college, not the convention center :p)

Oh, BTW Joystiq, I'm still waiting for you to apologize for supporting the change in the first place. I'm totally not moving back in with you until that happens.
Decanus @ Oct 22nd 2008 4:28PM
so this means some one "considering" opening a game store can get tickets
MowDownJoe @ Oct 22nd 2008 5:02PM
Or you could read the rest of the comments posted and then realize it's probably cheaper to start a game-related blog.
j.howlett @ Oct 22nd 2008 5:51PM
i'm glad it's going back to old form but i still say holding close to comicon is what hurt it the most recently
Simstim @ Oct 24th 2008 10:42PM
They should hold it in spring or early fall so it aligns with when developers are announcing new games or prepping their christmas launches.
finnith @ Oct 22nd 2008 8:23PM
Maybe one day I'll be able to go there.
