Final Fantasy XIII's 'blond-haired bandana guy' named

The magazine (via IGN) also delved a bit into Versus XIII but lacked any gameplay details. Instead, we're given hints about each of the two main characters' personalities, Noctis Lucis Caelum and Stella Nox Fleuret (latin words literally translated as "Night Light Sky" and "Star Darkness Sword," respectively). These two have the ability to "see light," which we guess is either some incomplete translation, a metaphor for something spiritual or a hint that Square Enix is taking a cue from the story Blindness.

Lots of Final Fantasy characters are named after the weather/elements:
Squall (wind)
Tidus (water)
Terra (earth)
Cloud (... clouds)
So it's not really surprising that there's one called Snow.

Except his name isn't Yuki (Japanese for "snow" for those who don't know), it's Snow. Even in the Japanese version.

No, I don't know what the actual words to that song are. I don't want to know. That would RUIN it.
Honestly, I like the first name. Like Cloud, it's a gentle name for a man who clearly isn't gentle. But 'Villiers'? That sounds weird. But he has a name! Hooray!

Man, I would really like to have a Final Fantasy game - or any JRPG for that matter - in which the characters didn't look like they spent all their downtime in a cheesy accessories shop in a strip mall. I'll take the Western stereotypical hero, with his 5 o'clock shadow and square jaw, over the ubermetrosexual archetype of Japanese gaming any day. Why? Because people who spend a large portion of their lives in combat don't also tend to spend a large portion of their lives matching their bandanas to their vests and their jewelry. At least this clown doesn't have spiky hair (or maybe he does under that cap).
