Lionhead forum users complain of Fable II freezing issues

Got the game (and Xbox)for Christmas today. Tried playing it, and it has crashes 4 times... Each time before I get a chance to save any progress, resulting in having to watch that damn opening dialogue over and over again...

Sincerely hoping that it gets resolved soon as it looks great!

Bought this for my son for xmas he has a new xbox 360 yesterday (xmas day ) and the new fable 2 well within minutes of playing its freezing and no matter how many times he retries it, it freezes again all other games work fine but fable. Should we be sending the game back?

We have a new X-Box 360. We had to get a new one because we downloaded Fable 1 and the red circle showed up on the X-box 360. All our games work fine except for Fable 2. I thought it was just a bad game, because it was new and kept freezing. So, I returned it and got another Fable 2 game and the exact thing is happening.
What can we do now? Just waste $60.00?

Got Fable 2 for Christmas. Opened the box on boxing day inserted the disc, the 360 asked to update I said yes. Started a new game, and bam it crashed on returning the warrant cards after about 15mins into the game. My 360 is the new version bought October 2008. Also not sure if its related NFS undercover crashes without patch 15 mins in. I wondered if it had something to do with the lack of hard disc space being a 20gb hard drive. Although other games such as far cry2, GOW 2 and fallout 3 work fine. Problem is once patched you are stuck until lionhead fixes the problem. If it is the patch which is causing it.

Mine has frozen twice now, I go by the bully beating the dog area to look for the warrants at the beggining and it freezes

I think this is a real bug because I played Fable 2 for awhile, but when I downloaded the patch after connecting it online, the game now freezes after a minute or so of playing.

try and install it to the harddrive, Ive gotten to to the part where I first age up

i've been having problems with it since ive updated. i started a new game and it froze while i was collecting the coins. i turned off the console then tried again only to have it freeze up again. i tried another time and a couple more and nonetheless, it froze every single time in several different points in the game and i can never save either because the beginning of the game is regarded as a scene and you cant save your progress.

The same problem happens with my fable 2 game.
Every time that I load up the game it will load the start up screen in little bits and pieces.
Another issue I have is that whenever I get around to playing my saved file, I will be able to play for around 5 minutes, then the music will stop and the game will completely freeze. However, I can still open the Xbox dashboard.

I purchased Fable 2 just yesterday (Dec.29th)
and as soon as I did the deed at the beginning with the picture box person, it froze. somtimes i get a good 20-35 minutes out of it, then it freezes. I have a brand new 360, i bought that only about 4 months ago. Plus all my other games work perfectly its just fable 2. Can anyone give me any tips to fix this? or is it as simple as exchanging it for a new disc?

Lionhead Studios screwed the pooch on this one. I've been trying play the game for 3 days now and have been plagued with game freezes. What's most surprising to me is that there doesn't seem to be any communication from Lionhead on this issue.

Perhaps they are trying to avoid bad PR around the holiday season, but what they seem not to realize is that loyal fans are extremely vocal and will undoubtedly make sure that everyone knows how serious this problem is.

Word of mouth is a double edged sword Mr. Molyneaux. It can do wonders for your product if you take care of those early adopters who shell out their hard earned money, but failing to do this will damage your long term financial success.

My brother and I bought Fable II, we loved the first game and we want to play the new one. When we bought it and tried the game when we got home, it froze about 3 times! The next day we exchanged it for a new disc and it still won't work! We went yet again the next day and we weren't allowed to get a new disc for insurance issues. We got a tip from someone at the store however and they said to NOT update it. Unfortunately we already had. But then we tried the game on our X-Box Live account, and it worked for about 30 minutes, until it froze once again. Both times we got the disc, it was brand new. Please give us tips on how to fix this game because my brother wants to beat it before he has to go back to college, and he doesn't want to buy it for him and his roomates because it will take up too much time. If you have any tips or ideas on how to fix this problem please reply. ALSO, LIONHEAD MAKE A NEW UPDATE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!

I started my Fable II game for the first time and it freezes everytime i try to play.....?

i dont know about the rest of you, but my game continuesly freezes on me. sometimes i can play the game for half an hour with no problems, other times it freezes while its loading my game file. im not sure y though because it works perfectly fine for my brothers xbox360 which is just downstairs. the only thing i can think of is that im not using an HDTV. every other game i have works though.

Ummm. let me think. Yes... yes... and yes! I returned the game once already and picked up another copy thinking it was the disc... well it wasn't. I have called Mircosoft and got no dice on how to fix it. They said make a new profile and play fable 2 on that. It worked for about 50 minutes before freezing. I kept trying afterwards now I can't even get 5 MINUTES IN!!!! Please if anyone knows of a plausible solution help me!!!

Turned the game on, went through the cinamatics and it froze within the first minute after I saw the vendor. Restarted it and it then let me go down tot eh alley to help the dog and it froze again. th2 3rd time it froze right away. 4th time I was instructed to do the X, X, LB,L RB, X, X and try again. It froze again. Tried removing the hard drive and it froze again. Don't know if its the updates for the games, but I experienced this with GTA IV as weel after instaling the update. The console was manufactured in September of 2008 so it's not an ld console. Wondering now if I should have gone with a PS3, this is rediculous.

I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the co-op patch download. When I first got the 360, I had no Xbox Live so I couldn't get the patch download. When I played Fable II(without Live) it worked perfectly, but as soon as I Got Live and downloaded the patch, it froze like every 5-10 minutes. I've never even over-played my Xbox or anything so I'm sure its the game with the problems.

Fable 2:What a joke game was released way too early.Has multiple bugs and freezes.Luckily I rented this game and will not buy.As far as those playin with no problem try beating the game and completing quests after.
At least I'm not out $60 like others.

FIXED THE PROBLEM

We had taken back a copy of the Fable 2 game thinking the freezing was do to the disc, only to find it froze just as much with the new disc. We resent our cashe, turned off the online orbs, with or with out the update, we were still freezing with in the first 5 minutes of the game play. Frustrated we thought we were going to have to return the game and not play the game at all.


HERE IS WHAT WE DID TO FIX THE PROBLEM

We downloaded the game to the xbox. thats it. We then played for several hours with NO freezing. Hope this helps someone having the same issues.

I just bought the game and it froze within like 3-5 minutes between the starting and the magic show at the beginning of the game, i just got my 360 the day be4 Christmas. Need for Speed undercover did the same thing, thats why i ended up getting fable 2. All other games i play on my system work, help me please.

My F2 is freezing the console *constantly!* If I don't save after ever tiny, insigf**kingnificant thing I lose even more time (on top of re-start and intro screens) just re-doing the same crap over and over. We should flood them with returns until they get their s**t together and release a patch or something to fix it, my cursing is starting to scare the kids.

install the game to your HDD if you have one and run it from there. This solves the freezing for most users. i imagine it is a problem with crappy disks or possibly a cache issue that many have mentioned.

I think the game is amazing, until it freezes. I dont know why it freezes but it just randomly does it. Its really frustrating because I love the game. I tried a different disc and it did exactly the same. Any suggestions??

I'm on my 3 character now and play an avg. of 5-7+ hrs. at a crack.. has only froze once but i have 3 boxes 2 old and 1 new pro. and play exclusively on a HD TV. but,,,,,but,,,,, i tell you this.. i believe this game will be the DEATH of all my xbox's..they labor way to hard and there's major shuttering and lag. last 3 months 1 box in for ring of death. the pro has been in twice in last month for a drive issue. then when i fired it back up upon return. 2 min into playing ring of death. on a pro at that....

OMG the freezing is so annoying! i can only get a few minutes at each time... its worse when your in populated areas like bowerstone market. I have done everything that they recommend bar getting a new xbox that is not an option as fable II is the only game it freezes on

Fable 2 is the best game released in the worst way ever. It is a graphically beautiful programming atrocity to the gaming industry, and from this point on any games that act similar should be referred to as, "fable 2ish." Lionhead studios and Microsoft do not care, as you have already purchased the game.

My wife and I had hoped this would be the game for us, and it was, but now (NXE patch, no COOP patch, installed to HDD) the game freezes more than ever.

Shame to you, Microsoft and Lionhead. Shame to you.

My game just froze right now, as a matter of fact, and I dont think it has anything to do with the new patch, because I havnt had my 360 connected online at any time since I got the game ( dont have the possibility of where I am now )

Just got fable 2, love the game, but it freezed up every 20 mins of play, so i took it back and got a new one, now it only freezes every 25mins of play! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING! i hope it is fixed soon.
