There's at least one PSN game which is universally loved: PixelJunk Monsters. We recently got a chance to play PJM at Q-Games' studios in Kyoto. However, it wasn't quite the same game we've grown to love: it's PixelJunk Monsters -- with an awesome patch.
The upcoming patch adds Trophy support, YouTube recording, new difficulty levels (Easy and Hard), and adjusts the strength of the towers a bit. For example, you'll have the ice tower available (no gems required!). Also, the Tesla tower's range has been increased.
We want to say more about the Trophy mode, but we're still awaiting approval from SCEA on how much we can divulge about that. We will give you one tease: you won't have to worry about these Trophies being retroactive. Update: So, the PlayStation.blog has just updated with the official details on the Trophy patch, which will be available on October 30th, in America and Europe. Watch Dylan Cuthbert talk about the details in this new video.

Then you got your voucher? Cool, maybe that means I'll get mine in the coming days. My wife and I only have one rainbow to go so this patch will be pretty sweet.

Sell it? Blasphemy! It's a keeper, I know I'll go back and play it again some time after the game flood ends.

Luckily, I won't have to worry about retroactivity regardless. I haven't had much of any time to play the game, and though I played a lot of it when it came out, it was a bit too hard for me (looking forward to easy mode!), but it's such a fun game that I wouldn't mind deleting my save data.
I have been pretty lucky about retroactivity in Trophy patches for these same reasons. I only played a bit of Uncharted when I got it and then stopped, but after getting that patch, I finished the entire game within a week.

yea i cant wait for this patch mostly for the easy mode. i played the demo and liked it. then i bought it when it was half price this summer ($5 was a no brainer!) but i have barely played it since buying it because i bought other games as wells and i apparently suck at it (but mostly because i suck at it). the trophy patch will be welcomed as well but im mostly looking forward to the easy mode for a more casual experience (like i like my PSN games).

yeah the easy mode alone would have made this patch cool but trophies and youtube recording and uploading is just wicked! maybe i'll be able to finish it this time. unfortunately, this is coming out right after lbp comes out so...my time will be severely strained...*sigh*

Awesome! The game is hard, especially when trying to get rainbows on each level... so I stopped playing the moment I heard about the trophy support being patched in, lest I have to go back and get a rainbow on each level again. It had been so long since the trophy announcement that I had almost forgotten about this game, but now I'm looking forward to dancing my way to new trophies!

on the left are the names of the trophies, like "green frog", "boss bomber" and "treasure hunt".
on the right it describes the green frog trophy:
without upgrading a tower even once, clear [name of pictured stage]

"...you won't have to worry about these Trophies being retroactive."
So in English that means:
I don't have to worry about Trophies being retroactive, because they are NOT, so I should prepare to replay the game, hence not worried if they are or are not.
or
I don't have to worry about Trophies being retroactive because they are retroactive.
How about just saying if trophies are retroactive. It makes more sense.

It could be that we don't have to worry about them being retroactive because they won't be related to the game levels/modes we have access to pre-patch, and that's why they need to wait for SCEA to let them "announce" the new modes/levels...

Its already been stated that there will be a separate trophy mode by IGN, so I'm guessing you can spoil that much. :-)

From IGN
"The Trophy support comes in the form of a new Trophy Challenge Mode which has you clear stages under certain limitations and conditions. Screenshots handed out by Q today suggest that at least 14 challenges are included. "

Youtube support = win. However, LBP needs Youtube support also, so you can teach people how to build the crazy stuff you put in your levels.

Agreed, I got LBP last night from a Blockbuster, were you able to snatch one up too?

The patch will be releasing VERY soon, with Japan getting the first patch release on October 23. If all goes well with final testing, you will see the patch in SCEA and SCEE territories on October 30. If there are any delays to the above mentioned dates, we will be sure to update the blog to let you know about it, so stay tuned!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More reason to go back and play this game! My g/f and I absolutely love the game, but like a lot of people we stopped playing it since we heard trophies were coming and didn't know if they would be retroactive or not....

Love playing this game, going at most levels with two player first... but there is a long standing bug that I hope gets squashed... Whomever is Player 2 will sometimes run in to an issue with the tower selector, if Player 1 already has it open. The menu appears to be stuck for a second or two until Player 1 has finished selecting their Tower. This bug is in the original, and the Encore game, and I'm sure PixelJunk is aware of it, but certainly a bit frustrating.
Looking forward to the new challenges however. Great game.

Awesome, I picked this up back when it was five bucks and haven't played it yet cause I'm waiting for trophies. It's about time, I've heard a lot of great things about it.

w00t monsters.
It'd be great if the YouTube recording looked better than Eden's.
Kinda funny the game is so fantastic despite having the weapons so badly balanced that almost no one ever uses other than ballistas, cannons, flamethrowers and mortars. Even on the one with the fast monsters in Encore I rainbowed it without using the freezers.

Bit of am arrogant cock isn't he?.. it's not up to him to decide whether it was too hard or not. the fact is it WAS too hard in one or two places where the difficulty level was spiked stupidly. It was a flaw of playtesting not 'addictive'. I hate it when devs disagree with common players opinions!
