Capcom: Street Fighter IV 'definitely' out this winter
Capcom has stated that the console version of Street Fighter IV will "definitely" be available in North America this winter (with the European release at "roughly" the same time), reports Gamespot. Now, if we're going to get technical on the meaning of "winter," we're guessing an early 2009 release, as Capcom is wont to do. This is in line with a previous statement by the producer of the Street Fighter movie that the game would release around the same time as the movie (currently expected Feb. 27, 2009)
The console version of the game should be an expanded experience from the arcade version, which can currently be found in Japan and in the phantom zone where arcades still exist outside of the island nation.

mr correction guy here to tell you that you said wont when i think you meant "would." unless wont is some sort of old english terminology ive never heard b4.
Dirty @ Oct 23rd 2008 4:43PM
I think you meant to say "before" but something must have gotten messed up and you hit a number.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 23rd 2008 4:51PM
the term "wont to do" is used correctly here. If the term "would" was used, the structure of a few sentences in the first paragraph would have to be severely reconstructed.
Also, b4 is not a word. See me after class.
Zertoss @ Oct 23rd 2008 4:52PM
Wont is the correct word in this case. It is NOT won't.
SoulBlade @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:00PM
When calling yourself "mr correction guy" on these forums, it's probably best to use proper casing and spelling. It'd be even better to be correct.
Supino @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:11PM
oh boy, not that excited about SF IV, are we?
I mean, I thought grammar was boring - but thats the hot topic around here...
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:17PM
[M]r[.] [C]orrection [G]uy here to tell you that you said ["]wont[,]["] when [I] think you meant "would." [U]nless wont is some sort of [O]ld [E]nglish terminology [I][']ve never heard b[efore].
There,
Fixed that for you buddy.
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:45PM
Looks like there's no need for me to chime in on your incorrect assessment, Mr. Correction Guy. Everyone here has done a fairly good job already.
Best of luck in the future.

Through all the books I've ever read until now, my 3rd year in college, I to the life of me never heard of the expression "wont to do." Once I find the casual way to place this in a sentence, I'm going to use it and surprise the hell people. Probably 99% of my listeners are going to think I'm a complete idiot, but I'll through it in; make me seem smarter than friends.
BTW, this game will rock.my.socks.off.

Third year of community college, right?
t_m @ Oct 24th 2008 3:07AM
"wont to do" on google = 41 Million Results... so I don't think you'll stand out too much by using proper English.
reign-♥-of-♥-love @ Oct 24th 2008 3:17AM
i go to university of texas dawg. and yea ur an ass. nothin better to do huh? than correct people? i commented on wont as decently as possible, you need a life son. are you gonna be a teacher or what? is that what your studying for? a teachers aid? huh? cause they dont get paid too well. go back to school and learn social skills and how to take a joke you nerd.
anyways yea im done with that fool. i looked it up and yes "wont to" is a 17th century term before they started saying "used to". so instead of being informative you gotta be an ass.
i remember going to the arcade places where it was a nickel to play about 100 arcade machines and being there on sf giving my friends a can of woopass. looks like im about to do it again when i buy this. ha
heypaul @ Oct 24th 2008 5:26AM
Why is everyone being so civil?
Viva, you're an idiot. Unless your rich uncle donated a new library to UT, I'm pretty sure the admissions office got you mixed up with the guy who was actually bright enough to go to college.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 24th 2008 8:27PM

"Now, if we're going to get technical on the meaning of "winter," we're guessing an early 2009 release, as Capcom is wont to do."
This is correct as written. I have a BA in English, so:
1. Respect my authoritay.
2. Stop laughing.
Jack @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:20PM
Also, I feel stupid for asking but what does "wont" mean without the apostrophe?
If I had to guess based on context it looks like "inclined" or "used to"
Jack @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:21PM
Oh and don't you mean authority? Or authoritah! (South Park style)
WiNG [Life in a Game] @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:22PM
There are free online dictionaries.
Zertoss @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:31PM
You can also plug "define: wont" into Google.
Jack @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:32PM
True and its usually what I'd do. But I just wanted to talk to someone besides google. Sorry.
t_m @ Oct 24th 2008 3:11AM
what do you want to talk about?
Superstar90 @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:17PM
Um... so... how do you guys feel about Street Fighter then?
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:18PM
What's Street Fighter?
Jack @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:18PM
Don't you mean authority? Or authoritah! (South Park style)
SoulBlade @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:44PM
This only gets my hopes up for a pre xmas release, but the cards are lookin like it's going to be in Feb. as Joystiq predicts.
Sigh.
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:49PM
I feel your pain, but if history is any indicator (that is, the history of all things, ever), it's not going to happen.
This is, by far, my most anticipated game.
When I was younger, I was intravenously attached to the SFII machine.
yyr @ Oct 23rd 2008 6:19PM
Anyway, to get back on topic...
...after playing the game in NYC last weekend, I can say it's miles better than I ever expected. It plays about as smooth as the 2D versions, looks great and has a thousand little touches that just feel right. I'm buying it the day it lands...
SoulBlade @ Oct 23rd 2008 6:39PM
That's good to hear - thanks for the input.
I wonder if the online issues have been resolved..
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:53PM
Ugh, as much as I am dying for the game, I simply cannot bring myself to brave two-plus-hour lines and pay $3.00 a go just to get hammered by some Asian with some inclination that throwing is considered cheap ("I get to throw you back.") in 17 seconds.
I'd just assume keep my $635.29/hour, thanks.
That said, I really appreciate your assessment!
Roofie @ Oct 23rd 2008 6:31PM
Oddly enough, we have one here at a local bowling alley in Tacoma, Wa. It's the weirdest place for this thing to be, but I assure you that it's here.
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:54PM

Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 23rd 2008 6:37PM
To those people who have played Street Fighter IV in the US,
Do the arcade cabinets take quarters? Is there a card that you can buy that records wins/losses and character data?
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:55PM
The one I've heard of here, which is about 40 mins from the San Fernando Valley, takes quarters -- 12 of them, in fact.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:23PM
Are the cabinets linked together, so its one person to a machine?
Or is a single machine spit between two people?
Gilbert Tang @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:30PM
There is only one cabinet present.
Jimiisama @ Oct 26th 2008 9:52PM
Every cabinet will be different. Cabinets don't actually come with the card-swiping thing; they need to be modified as such. Some cabinets will be $0.50, some may be more. Some cabinets will have HD TV's or monitors, while some cabinets will simply be SD. Some cabinets will be linked, while some will be standalone. Cabinets are never uniform.
Josh @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:47PM
I thought we knew it was February 3? Just look around online; all the release dates say February 3.
Nael M. @ Oct 24th 2008 1:32AM
The video game stores say February 3rd, yeah. However, Capcom hasn't formally announced a release dates, so the stores are just guessing.
Josh @ Oct 24th 2008 10:49AM
It's not a guess. The stores often get release dates/lists before the publishers officially announce them.
