They didn't go exclusive with Guitar Hero, as I just played Battery a few minutes ago in Rock Band 2.

As long as most of the songs are from the 80s, it's an instant buy for me (my fingers wouldn't be happy though...that'd easily be the hardest music game ever)

and the feud goes on, Metallica goes with the not as good but willing to dish out more cash Guitar Hero, and Megadeth goes with the better game Rock Band (not exclusive, but with Sleepwalker, the full album download of Peace Sells... But Who's Buying, it seems that way)

They suck? Have you even listened to Death Magnetic and it's 78 on Metacritic or are you just arguing because Rock Band is a "better" game?

I have listened to it, it sounds like they're trying to recapture something that they will never have again, and the production is awful. Also, Rock Band is a better game, it's a music game made by musicians who make games. Guitar Hero WT is a game made by people who make games trying to make music. GH3 was unplayable due to that fact. The note charts didn't make any sense if you actually know how to play an instrument. The charts in Rock Band actually made sense.

They ran out of "Mustaine's riffs" after the first album. Notice how much better and more organized their music became after he left? You'll just have to accept that megadeth was, is, and always will be a very distant 2nd to Metallica.

actually they credited him for one on RTL, and there are numerous others that were ripped off and uncredited on RTL and MOP. And I didn't notice their music get any better or more organized, just more poppy and weak. Listen to United Abominations, that album alone destroys the last 5 metallica albums in terms of talent, songwriting, and just pure heavy.

Yes I have, and it's shit. I wouldn't be bragging about a 78. That's not exactly good. Hum, maybe you did so badly in school that a 78 seems good... And Rock Band is a better game, in, uh, every way that I can think of.

I happen to have united abominations and it only has 1 good song on it, sleepwalker. Everything else is a sloppy mess thrown together combined with Mustaine's terrible singing voice. The only metallica album it's better than is st anger.

"there are numerous others that were ripped off and uncredited on RTL and MOP"

A typical megadeth fanboy response. I've never seen one credible source even mention anything like that. It's just a conspiracy theory hastily thrown together by megadeth fanboys to try and chip away at Metallica's success and their numerous legendary songs.

Ride the Lightning and Call of Ktulu are the only 2 songs after the first album that mustaine HELPED write (that's a key word. You megadeth fanboys seem to think that whenever his name's attached to a song that means he did everything for it)

Mietha, maybe you should hop on over to the music and movies section of metacritic before you start talking shit about what a 78 over there means. Go ahead and look up the scores of some of your favorite bands/movies and see what they have there.

This isn't videogame ratings we're talking about where a 9/10 means average. The music/movie scorers actually use the whole scale. Doesn't Burn After Reading have like a 72 or something over there and it's one of the higher scores of the year?

GH:M will fail unless:

1) It is a full band game.
- Why?: Because if GH fans spend the kind of money that Activision is suggesting, they're going to be rightly pissed when the "next" GH game doesn't support all those pretty new instruments.

2) It provides the RB style export feature (ala AC/DC Live) to prevent songs being "trapped" on the disc.
- Why? Because while I enjoyed a good portion of the songs in GH:Aerosmith, it got really boring really fast not being able to play something besides Aerosmith. Swapping discs isn't a huge annoyance when I'm just hanging out playing, but in a party atmosphere having them all just THERE makes it much easier for the night (and the rocking) to just keep rolling on.

3) Provides a larger playlist than GH:A.
- Why?: See above. But also considering this will likely be priced about 40-50 bucks. Considering that the "standard" set by RB and now WT is around 80 songs, anything short of 60-70 is going to rightly be a ripoff now a days (look at Rock Revolution with its...40?...songs)

4) Supports GHWT DLC (or GHIII if they go the guitar only route).
- Why?: Same as above. While RB and RB2 allow me to keep my songs across titles, GHWT is essentially leaving my old GHIII content high and dry (thankfully I only ever actually paid for the Foo Fighters Pack). But if they release WT, and then release a title like GH:A that doesn't support DLC or allow itself to be brought into other games...then they're going to face a pretty vicious backlash as fans question what the point of all that DLC was if they're going to render it "obsolete" with GH:M.

But for some reason, I've got this feeling gnawing at my cut that none of the above will happen. It's part of the reason I'm not rushing out to buy GHWT. I need to give it a few months to see how well they support DLC and how the GHTunes services pans out.

Not to mention the final an authoritative instrument compatibility breakdown.

I do hope they let you export the songs a la the AC/DC disc. That would kind of make #4 on your list a non-factor for most people also.

An export style feature could possibly eliminate the need for number 4, but I was thinking DLC integration with Metallica would also help Activision spread the brand out to Metallica fans who weren't GH fans before.

And just to set a baseline, I'm not even sure if the AC/DC pack is compatible with DLC...

Someone's drinking the Metallica Kool-Aid. Neither band is as good as they used to be, but Megadeth is, always has been and always will be better than Metallica. Metallica hasn't released anything original worth listening to since 1989. While Megadeth's new stuff isn't exactly that great, it's still better than anything Metallica has released in decades.

Only a megadeth fanboy thinks that they even came close to metallica when both were in their prime. If you asked other rock musicians, rock "historians", or people in the industry that were around back then, not 1 of them would say that megadeth was better than metallica or that they contributed more to metal than them.

I've also seen countless lists from countless places whether it's best bands, metal albums, individual people, whatever you want and not 1 has ever put a megadeth album or band member ahead of a metallica one.

So as I said, only hardcore megadeth fans think they were ever better than metallica.

I never even realised, at all, that Megadeth and Metallica were unknowingly engaged in a 360 vs Ps3 style fanboy war. Megadeth to me was all about the Duke Nukem Theme song (please, PLEASE have that song as GH:WT DLC) but not much else. I've heard quite a bit of their music, it's 'ok', but i always go back to Metallica or Pantera (Or DETHKLOK!!. I'm so glad they confirmed season 3 of Metalocalypse) for my metal.

As long as Master of Puppets and Fade to Black are on GH:M, i'll be pre-ordering.

Yeah but this isn't even a real competition. Metallica far outsold Megadeth even before they sold out with the Black album. They have 4 albums that are considered legendary metal albums, and another that's considered a legendary hard rock/metal album (and is also one of the better selling albums OF ALL TIME).

What most people don't know or refuse to accept is that metallica was gaining momentum and sales with each album. Master of Puppets went gold not long after coming out back in 1986 which was inconceivable for a heavy metal album by anyone not named Ozzy. And Justice For All debuted at number 5 or 6 on the billboard charts, again something no other metal band had ever done. So they were already starting to get huge, the black album just pushed them over the edge.

Megadeth is a very good metal band and is probably most people's choice for 2nd or 3rd best metal band ever (I personally think most industry people would put Black Sabbath ahead of them), but in no way does their career even approach Metallica's.

I agree. Megadeth hasn't changed, it was always average, it was always 'ok', and it always will be. Metallica has gone from the greatest metal band alive (IMO) to very generic. A lot of bands suffer the same fate as Metallica. Silverchair, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park are prime examples.

Guitar Hero III is much more forgiving in terms of strum timing which actually makes it a lot easier despite the extra notes on some of the charts.

No, there are some pretty challenging songs in RB as well. The difference is that a majority of the challenging RB charts are challenging because the song is actually a tough song.

Unlike GHIII where you'll often find yourself jumping between Guitar, Rythym, and Keyboards...or occasionally playing notes that aren't even there.

I will say that, having played the GHWT demo at Best Buy, the charts do seem to flow much better...though they've introduced some interesting elements (most noticeable while playing Santeria) that bring what feels like a more naturally challenging song list.

As far as im concerned, just create a Rock Band MEgadeth or somethin and a Guitar Hero Metallica and Megadeth Fanboys are happy and Metallica Fanboys wiull be happy, as for me, im prolly gonna get both anyways becasue i suck at shooters and shit but got good at rythym gamesand personally i think that Guitar Hero is harder than Rock Band until Rock Band DLC comes in, then you get some pretty hard ass songs.

I think this game sounds like a good idea. Providing it plays well and has a half decent song list and lots o` DLC.

As for this Megadeth /Metallica fanboy war thing: Guys! Can`t we just agree they`re both great bands? You`re all using anger that could be used against bands that actually do suck! e.g. Jonas Brothers, The Strokes, and Indy music in general. Can`t you be thankful that you love is still being played? Keep the torch lit fellas...

BTW: Motley Crue is over-rated... and so is Glam Metal in general...
