I've only been playing the game for a short while and I quite disliked it at first and was wondering why its gotten so many positive reviews but its slowly starting to grow on me. : )

Still not as good as so many are hyping it up to be, just like GTA4.

This is not flame-bait. But it seems those reviews could easily filter into games like Halo as well. And really, most games have 6-7 hours of gameplay, how is 12 or so hours "short"?

ah well.

These days people just look for RPGs to last a really long time. When you look at some of the JRPG games out there you see how they stretch their length to make it a game that people play for a very long time.

I know Oblivion was something I put some 100 hours into though with all of the side quests and add-ons, so I am not too worried that this game has a lot more play potential than the time people discuss.

I thought the first Fable was just ok, but I am REALLY liking this one.

The only thing I wish they would change (aside from letting you bring your full character over in co-op) is to make the controls a little more complex, which would allow you to do more with them. Something like a full fledged melee set of controls a la Viking (seriously this game gets no love, but no hack n' slash has ever had controls half as good as this one), and then hold down a modifier like RT to use your magic with several different buttons. That way you could vary up your magic a bit more and feel like more of a badass.

Also, the orb idea with co-op is freaking amazing. The first time I walked into a town and heard other people's real life voices was just mind boggling. Then when I saw an orb moving around and realized that it represented where that person was in their own game, even though I had done absolutely nothing to "connect" to them or play online, and I saw the future of gaming.

Just to clarify, when I was talking about awesome melee controls, "this one" referred to Viking, not Fable.

Orbs are strange and awesome. Me and a friend just ran circles around each other when we first saw each other.

well it's a fun game. this during the day, and then going back into the horror that is dead space at night. it's so polarizing, those games played together.

i think F2 plays better for casual gamers too, my GF who can't understand both thumbsticks can easily run around with me and loves dogs.

so, d'eh ya likke dags?

I prefer these nega reviews than the everyday "real" reviews that other sites have. It helps you decide whether or not you want to cope with the negatives of certain games.

All this stuff in this nega-review sounds game breaking and not fun to me. I won't be getting this game after all.

I'm loving everythign about the game so far. If you're a little turned off by the negatives here, I'd recommend you still at least rent the game, as I don't think any of the problems with it detract from the fact it's just a hell of a lot of fun to play from start to finish.

Particularly if you liked the first one, you'll absoloutely love this one :)

My only complaint would be with the child hood sequence, which is just really not very good, I can understand why some found it difficult to appreciate at first because of that opening sequence.

I also have to disagree with a few points the reviews made.. I found the dog to be very lovable, it basically works the same way as Nintendogs were you pet it and teach him tricks, but I thought he made a great companion, it was easy to feel attached to him - especially as he morphs along with your character and I think it was one of the best parts of the game. Really unique and fun.

And why would gamers "not care" if the guard gets the arrest warrents at the start or not? Without giving too much away, little things like that do have a massive impact on the game later on. Towns can completely change or even dissapear, areas become new areas, forests can become cities, cities can disappear entirely.. and so on. The whole choice and consequence thing is easily done better than in any other game. Your actions DO have ramifications, and they become apparant quite quickly.

It's just like every other nega-review.. find little things to nitpick at, and then blow them out of proportion!

I also was a non-fan of the original Fable. It appears that devout followers of the original are generally happy with the sequel but if you didn't like the concept already, there is nothing new to draw you in. The things I've read about the co-op not allowing you to use your own built up character, this cartoon dog you have running around to dig up buried treasure, the wierd gesture system for interacting with people, moral system can be altered quickly by either acting bad or donating money to a temple for good, and if you play straight towards the plot it can be finished in eight hours? Hell Dead Space took me 14 hours and it was a dark, cinematic masterpiece in my opinion. Fallout 3 is probably much closer to my kind of game and everything I read is cementing that in my mind. To be fair I might try this a few months down the line when there are less distracting titles coming out.
