Sony expects PSP sales to exceed fiscal year forecast
It's not all doom and gloom in the Sony financial camp, as the manufacturer has announced (via Reuters) that PlayStation Portable sales for the fiscal year, ending March 2009, would exceed forecast figures. The PSP, which recently saw its second revision find success in Japan despite a screen scanline issue feature, is now expected to sell 16 million -- and not a previously expected 15 million -- units within the complete fiscal year. Thanks, one million additional, potential buyers!

Glad to see at least one of their products is selling really well. I might actually pick this up, too. I'm not sure if my wallet can take anymore spending, though.

PS3 sales are picking up steadily as well. All my of friends who used to be 360 only are now slowly moving over to the PS3. I have both systems and other than Gears of War 2, every single game I'm buying lately, exclusive or not, is for my PS3. Silent Hill: Homecoming, Rock Band 2, Dead Space, SOCOM: Confrontation, Resistance 2, Mirror's Edge, LittleBigPlanet, and what ever else I may be forgetting... Fallout 3 I'll opt out on until I can get a better PC built.

I'm glad to see a solid competitor that has held up to Nintendo's handhelds where all others have failed. And its great to have a completely different alternative to the DS as well, DS and PSP are totally different machines, but each great.

I'm down for another PSP, scanlines and all (hey, they were cool in the arcade days).
My original japanese PSP-1001 is still going strong, but that ghosting does my head in. Will be handy as my homebrew machine, and the shiny new hotness is still the best portable movie player you can get.

I'm a late adopter. Just picked a new Red Kratos PSP bundle last night for $149.

Well, Amazon canceled all pre-orders and took the item down for the Black PSP-3000 4GB Memory Pack. CircuitCity.com stopped taking pre-orders and changed the release date from Nov. 9 to "Coming Soon". If they want to hit those high sales figures, pulling a SKU before release day is not the way to do it. Especially when so many people had it pre-ordered. Someone should report on this.....

Well, the PSP-2000 should exceed sales forecasts, anyway.
...I don't know about the PSP-3000 and its interlaced screen...
