Army of Two crotch-hoisting its way to the big screen

What we would've given to be a fly on the wall in this pitch:

EA: "Hey, so ... we have this game, right? Army of Two. The one with the fist-bumping meatheads with the death masks? We think it would make a great motion picture!"

Hollywood: "... Are you totally high?"

Despite having nothing going for it, EA somehow managed to convince Universal to bring the oh-so-forgettable, crotch-hoisting, buddy-cop antics of Army of Two's [generic character A] and [generic character B] to the silver screen.

Writer slash director slash producer slash sucker Scott Z. Burns will bring the future Oscar contender to the screen using all the tricks he learned co-writing The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant, and co-producing An Inconvenient Truth. Burns gushes, "I'm thrilled that EA and Universal see the potential to make a smart thriller that has real implications in the world we live in today." Wow, we were totally thinking the same thing!

The story for this game was actually decent, or at least a decent idea, just underdeveloped as they only had a few minutes of cutscenes to work with. It's certainly a more original idea than the story for 95% of the shooters out there.

It actually could make a pretty good basis for a more developed story with the same basic principle in a movie. However, it's unlikely that's what we'll get, but rather just a plotless action flick. Maybe they'll throw in some demons or something to keep up with the Hollywood norm.

Did you call Rio and Salem generic? Sure, they follow common archetypes like everyone else, and Rio was uninteresting as hell, but Salem's dialogue in the game actually made me start laughing like crazy. Talking about the Wu Tang Clan as a Chinook comes to drop of more flesh targets.

Also, the fact the game seems not to have much of a plot shoved into your face, and more of a collection of points to hit, it's alot easier to make a good movie based on it. I hope they don't make the plot the forefront of the movie, and leave it in the background though, because it should be a movie about blowing shit up.

Also, if Jason Statham played Smilie(Clyde)? That would be freakin' awesome.

Bad game gets a bad movie? Check. I guess at least in this case, the movie has a slight chance of being more interesting than the game its based on. I feel sorry for all my friends who wasted money on that game, way too short and gunplay was poor.
