John Dimmagio already has the mass to make that build possible, run him through that hampster wheel for 6 months, seems to be the simplest solution. The man even has a face befitting of the COG team.

That Wrestler Batista is like the spitting image of Marcus Phoenix. And after all, aren't wrestlers the best actors?

spot on man, i know Batista is exactly the build you need. and c'mon, it's not like it's Shakespeare. it's F'n guys running around with huge ass guns killing ugly-as-sin monsters with, more or less, the same huge ass weapons. how difficult could it be? if you don't get the build of the characters right, it's not going to look like the gears we all love. i mean, make the characters seem more like grunts, and less like actors who are to "camera-ready". we don't need speech after speech or actors complaining about how one-dimensional their character is. u know? cliffy just doesn't want bad acting, but who ever does?

They couldn't even write a good story for Gears 2. I'd worry about your game franchise before branching out to film.

Someone needs to tell Cliff that "somebody who can actually act and is incredibly charismatic" is the definition of a successful pro-wrestler. Watch some non-professional wrestling, like some local stuff. Then you will realize the amount of acting talent it takes to be in the WWE.

The Rock nails the roles he's in. Granted, he's hard pressed to get a good role, but he's a good actor.

(Also, I've actually never been a fan of wrestling, but those guys are unfairly picked on by nerds.)

But all you need IS a wrestler to play GoW's shallow characters.

well they could do like gerard butler for 300 and get the actor totally juiced...

plus the suit adds another 800 pounds of pure bull testosterone.

Fuck it, you could resurrect Oliver Reed and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
It's a film based on a computer game.
It's gonna be a steaming pile of excrement.

It's actually a film based on a computer game based on a console game.

So there.

You can't go wrong with Jake Gyllenhaal, Oh man thinking about it made me lawl. Really though he will have a hard time getting a A list actor in the movie cause of the story, plot, and character development that they have to work with now isn't very deep or complex.

So it will weigh heavily on the writers and directors that are bought in(and I do mean bought). Any actor can be a great actor with a good script and compelling plot. The question you have to ask yourself is will any studio go that far for a videogame movie. Also if I was any writer or director I wouldn't use these characters at all.

I would go with a side story about the war, from a whole different aspect coming from the information Fenix's team received about the Locust. Make the story show another team going into battle and hearing what Fenix is doing and acting on those events and causes, maybe they even brush past each other in a scene. That way you keep the Iconic characters iconic while setting the plain to get a fresh story with more compelling characters for the silver screen.

Wha...? Have you seen "Bubble Boy?" Sheesh...Jake Gyllenhaal? Holy $hit; you've got to be kidding me.

Casting Jake Gyllenhaal would kill the franchise as a video game.

DO they actually NEED to be able to act???

Personally, I'd say that The Rock is a better actor than Clive Owen. (and thats coming from a Brit who's never really been into westling).

Clive owen has always seemed like some form of charisma black hole. (not as bad as Eric Bana, but close...)
