Burt Reynolds to promote 'You're in the Movies'
As an antithesis to the apathy and snarkasm us bloggers are wont to project, Microsoft has employed Mr. Burt Reynolds to act as a promoter for its upcoming camera-based casuals trap, You're in the Movies. Reynolds will front a series of TV and magazine spots for the game, using "his long and illustrious career as a part of the tinsel town A-list" to explain how jumping into "a magical world of cinema and hilarious improvisations" could possibly be a good idea. "It's great to be able to share some of my experience with everyone about what it takes to be a movie star," says Reynolds out of his own volition and completely detached from any marketing prompts. "You're in the Movies on Xbox 360 allows everyone to have a piece of the action and have a fun time with their friends and family, starring in their own features, from the comfort of their own homes." Expect him to say similar things in the first commercial, which will premiere on VH1 on November 17, 2008.
You're in the Movies will be available in a $70 Vision Camera bundle this holiday.

And then 20 years later Adam Sandler will be called upon to promote You're in the Movies instead, and everyone will be reminded about how great it was with Burt Reynolds.

"...his long and illustrious career as a part of the tinsel town A-list..."
...Which just happens to have ended back in 1983.

Don't just ram it in there like that, this is not a hole in the wall pal, it’s "You're in the Movies!"

Fact: After seeing a rough cut of the film, Burt Reynolds regretted making it and fired his agent for recommending the role to him. Reynolds ended up winning a Golden Globe and being nominated for an Academy Award for his performance.
More fact: Burt Reynolds - no longer relevant

Dear Burt,
If you really need a paycheck, I will be happy to go out and buy another copy of The Cannonball Run. Please, think of the children.

Will Dom DeLuise appear as Captain Chaos?
Navtones @ Oct 24th 2008 6:49PM
Burt Reynolds is the man. I have him as the voice on my GPS that I got from Navtones.com. He often helps me escape from tricky situations now!

So sad. Burst was once awesome, then became a joke, then was awesome again in Boogie Nights, and then came things like that Dungeon Siege movie, and it was back to Jokesville. Shilling for this silly product isn't gonna help either Burt or the game.
Though I guess it is a step up from working for Uwe Boll...
