We've been receiving reports from several gamers -- and the Lionhead forums are positively buzzing -- about a game breaking glitch in Fable II. The glitch occurs during the quest called "Monk's Quest," in which players are tasked with speaking to the Abbot of the Temple of Light in Oakfield. Apparently, if players run into the temple, begin the conversation with the Abbot, and then leave the region before the conversation is finished, they are be unable to resume the quest, thus preventing them from completing the main story. Lionhead is currently working on the issue and advises all players to make sure to finish the conversation and cut scene before leaving the area. At the moment there is no fix for those who have already encountered the glitch.
Another glitch discovered in the game causes those who take one of their heroes into co-op with another player starting a new game. Apparently, when leaving childhood, all experience and gold will be wiped from the co-op character. Lionhead hopes to address this glitch in a title update, but advises players to only play co-op after the childhood stage has been completed.
[Thanks to everyone that sent this in]

It is a little buggy. Great game. I love it, but I've been experiencing an annoying bug of my own.
When I'm fighting, it draws in all the experience automatically as if I was holding R. It actually causes my character to get hung up sometimes and get hit for a stupid reason. It's very annoying.

I'm literally just about to go into the temple to talk to the monk so thanks for the heads up. I'm also one of those "lucky" ones who experienced constant freezing and had to spend about 2 hours beating the childhood sequence.
...But it's such a good game I kept with it and I'm incredibly happy I did. I'm a level 5 blacksmith and I'm totally into the free roaming. I love my RPG's and Fable II is still one of the best ever made. =D

Right now I'm kinda pissed. I did this random quest (Rescuing Charlie), and when I finished it, the grandma or whatever was talking crap, so I left. And now the damn Hold A To Skip Conversation thing is EVERYWHERE. I can't get rid of it at all. It's fucking annoying, I can't even see my health. I tried quitting but I had to save cause I did a bunch of shit, and when I came back it was still there. I somehow got rid of it by traveling to some other town, but then it just randomly popped back up.

I had the same thing happen when I was looking at a villager's stats. The "Mark the villager" bar and the "press y for info" just sat there on the top line. I saved, tried talking to others, it wouldn't go away. Finally, I traveled to another town and it left. Hasn't come back yet either.
*On an unrelated note* It doesn't surprise me that there are some bugs. A game this big and ambitious is bound to run into some problems. The first Fable had quite a few and it couldn't get title updates. (At least mine couldn't no internet on the original xbox).

Well yeah I traveled to another place, it went away, but it's still there, even though you can't see it, and since mine is Hold A, I can't do anything that involves holding A, like open doors or steal. And seeing as I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need this sooner or later, so I guess I have to start a new fucking game.

I have something like that, except not as severe. Did a Community service quest and the "Criminals remaining: 1" thing froze on the screen. Also, it won't let me play couch co-op anymore.

Same thing happened to me. My fucking game is broken now, just before the final fucking quest. Basically, I can't do anything that involves using the a button, ya know, the one that you need to interact with every fucking thing in the game.
Fuck you Lionhead.

Hmmm, interesting. Why would you leave the town before finishing the conversation? You can skip all of them right?
Hope they get it straightened out. I'm digging the game and haven't had any problems. *crosses fingers, knocks on wood*

Fable II has been having a lot of problems, each day bringing one more.
Why is it that games for this generation have so many bugs/glitches compared to the PS2/Xbox/NGC era?

Because console gamers are now being treated the way PC Gamers have for years. Since consoles now had harddrives/storage AND internet connectivity, they feel that they can rush games "out the door" and just patch it later. They couldn't do this on xbox/gamecube/ps2 so they had to make sure they got it right the first time. Storage and internet connectivity on modern consoles is a double-edged sword.

Agreed. PC era ftw right? Well, not for me anyway. I may just wait for Fable 2 to get well soon before playing it.

And what doesn't help is you CAN'T copy your saved game to another media, like a memory card. I usually do that with my games in case of HDD failure or saved game corruption.

I had the game freeze up on me the first time you meet Theresa. About 5 minutes into the game. I was pretty pissed, but I haven't had any problems since (just about to go talk to the Abbot...fingers crossed)
I don't have my 360 connected online, what does the developer plan on doing for people like me if it freezes indefinitely???

Try taking it to a friends house. I guess they figure we all have some sort of internet access if we really wanted it badly enough. Who knows, go to the public library and hook your xbox up to a computer monitor, download the *update* and then leave. Maybe it would work...

Well, at least there's some publicity and work on a fix from Lionhead for this, as opposed to GTA4 which had several similar glitches with the same outcome (could no longer trigger a mission, which meant you could no longer go forward in the game) which were never addressed by Rockstar.

No no no, you silly geese. It's all part of the morality choices that the genius Peter Molyneux put into the game!
Lesson #1: Respect your elders. Don't walk away while they're talking to you.
Lesson #2: When on Xbox Live, don't play with children. This one should be self-evident.
Come on, there are no glitches in the game. It's all intentional. Just like the Fable II Pub Games. ;)

You get 10,000 gold for 5 perfects and a weapon for eight perfects.
If you didn't get the gold you it may be only when you play the crucible again that you are eligible for the prizes.

I haven't come across any of those glitches yet, but I will be playing Co-op with a friend tonight. He will be starting a new account so after reading this, I should watch him play the childhood stage, and then join with my hero as a henchman when you wake up in the camp right?

Playing this game on a regular tv sucks. All the tips that appear on the top cannot be seen. Also the Health cannot be seen. I have to wait till night when my parents stop using our HDTV to play the game.
I wonder if anyone else has this problem with regular tv's??

Hmm... I haven't tested it yet on a standard def. but i'ts possible that you still have the resolution set to the HDTV? Otherwise, i'm not sure. The only other thing I can think of is the rounded screen on standard def's, but that shouldn't affect it that much.

what about the "glitch" where you only get to play the game for an hour before it black screens and then refuses to boot up ever again?

Well that's just plain rude not letting the man talk before walking (or running) away. At least have the decency to hold A to skip the conversation.

Heres another bug!!! The Demon Door in Roakville. The one where you have to get your dog to perform tricks in order to open it. It opens fine but once inside "Memory Lane," You come to a door that has the action icon symbol "A" "Examine." When you push "A," nothing happens. And there are, what looks like, people frozen in the window. Great Game so far though.

I have the hold A option for that door in Memory Lane also. I think it was probably a mistake and the door wasn't meant to be able to be examined.
The only other bug I have is on an assasination mission. My target was Georg the monk. I killed him (around the same time I had the Abbot mission) and nothing happened. I tried to claim the reward and Mr. Blank just tells me to do my job. I have since killed this monk 4 times total (he respawns now apparently) and everytime the quest does not progress. Now my job contract has expired and I can't even get a new assignment. It still just says to go to Oakfield and kill the monk. So far it's the only frustrating thing about the game (besides the way the magic abilities stack when you use them, biggest criticism by far for me).

This is BS!!!! mad hours into the game ( like 6 or 7 hours ) and the skip conversation glitch happened now anything that has to do with the A button doesn't work unless i do some crazy moves to do it. I'm definitely not starting over I'm so pissed to the point i wanna sell the game(and not mention the glitch of course >=) .........Lionhead you truly disappointed me =..(

During the quest called "The Hit" I passed a demon door but walked away before it finished talking. This leaves the Hero unable to complete the game very much like The Abbot bug. But, its much much further into the game!
You won't be able to jump to another region and will just get a message stating you can;t leave until the scene ends. The scene will not end and I've tried everything to get around it!
I'm going to get my freaking money back on this bug filled game

my game is completely screwed. I just got the the harbor town in wraithmarsh and after i talked to the skill hero, I went to talk to a pirate for a quest in the pub. I have to buy him a beer, but now I cannot interact with any shop owners/beds/objects to steal etc. I can't do any quests and I can't leave cause it tells me I have to wait for a scene to finish.
The only way i can get enough renown is to have the stupid Bard sing about me, and even then the amount of renown i need to accumulate to progress with the story doesn't change. I can't even use my sword/gun/spells in the town.
