If you didn't get all up on the Good Old Games beta, you (and the rest of the public) now have a crack at the open beta of the service, which lets you purchase classic, DRM-free PC games for $5.99 or $9.99 a piece.
In addition to previously announced Codemasters and Interplay titles, GoG is now sporting games from Strategy First (e.g. Jagged Alliance) and Pluto 13 (Gothic). Oh, and if you need to play a little catch up with the Fallout series before the third game drops, you can get the pair of predecessors for $12 on GoG.com.

Really makes me want to play Giants again. Very attractive website too, seems like a classy service.

I would have defended myself against the first "Classy?" but I just can't deal with this hounding, I retract my statement, it has brought me nothing but trouble.

I guess it helps that I'm an apple fangirl then, site really pops on this glossy screen. Do you need a glass of water?

CD Projekt is fast becoming one of my favorite studios. The selection at GOG.com, while good, isn't great yet, but it works, it's easy to use, and is cheap. I picked up a couple games during the beta and have been very happy with my purchases. CD Projeckt did an amazing job The Witcher as well. I hope more developers see how great GOG is and jump into it.

As much as I agree with you about CD Projekt, why did you mention them here?

Oh man, hell yeah. They should make it more obvious, it's not in their "About Us" at all from what I can see.

Yea, I can't find it on the website either. I'm surprised it isn't. I just remember it from various articles before GOG.com started up.

I just have to say that I participated in the beta and love the service. I already have the Falllout games, but I picked up Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Descent 3, Freespace 1 and 2 and Die by the Sword.
I hope more people who aren't familiar with these games pick them up and see why some of us call them "good old games".
I'm going to continue buying and I hope the service is a success.

Very nice service, I picked up both Fallout 1 and 2 during the beta for $6 altogether (buy 1 get 1 free) and I am very satisfied with the experience - it's easy to buy, easy to install, no problems. Website and interface and very clean and user-friendly. Prices are great, and there's no DRM at all - I actually own the games, even better than a disc since there's no CD key, authentication, nothing to get scratched up.
Only real problem is the limited catalog, would definitely be nice to see some older Blizzard or Sierra games on there at least - but other than that, this site deserves to thrive.

I'm going to stick with GameTap for now, multiplayer being the main reason! That and the service often gets very new titles.
