More appropriately, we should call it WRUP4ALL. Now that
E is for No One, we figure we put the phrase to good use.
- Alexander Sliwinski: Hoping I can sit down and play Fable 2 for longer than the one hour sessions I've been squeezing in. Once the sun goes down I'll move over to Dead Space. Also got Force Unleashed from GameFly. There's simply not enough time.
- Christopher Grant I'll be winding my way through the flickering corridors of the ISG Ishimura, strategically dismembering the former crew in Dead Space. If I manage to polish that drink off, I may spend some more time in Geometry Wars 2, a game I'd been shamed into playing at last and (what's this?) I actually find myself enjoying a great deal. Next: Fable 2 ... or Fallout 3 ... or Far Cry 2 ... or next week's Penny Arcade Adventures Ep. 2?
- Griffin McElroy wears his sunglasses at night.
- Kevin Kelly: Since I ran through Dead Space in two days instead of stretching it out longer and enjoying it more, I'll be sobbing quietly in a corner. Oh, and playing Fallout 3.
- Kyle Orland nega-answered.
- James Ransom-Wiley is wondering how long the clichéd quest to become a Fabled hero will stave off the Far Cries of the deadly creatures that tempt from the exotic plains of Africa. ... Also: Let's get those bats going Philthies! (We're looking at you, J-Roll, to get it started in Game 3!)
- Jason Dobson: I'm going to be sitting on the couch and drinking my fill of Eternal Poison.
- Justin McElroy: If I have any free time, I'm going to be playing Fallout 3. As is my custom, I'd like to take the opportunity to remind you that the weekend is really meant for meeting girls and dancing.
- Ludwig Kietzmann: I've got LittleBigPlanet, Dead Space, Fable 2 and Far Cry 2. I JUST DON'T KNOW.
- Randy Nelson: I'll be playing what I've been playing all week long: Fable 2. My goals for the weekend include buying the Cow & Corset, marrying one of the dozen or so maidens that follow me everywhere, and gifting my friends with bizarre items when I spot their online orbs. Luddy, I've got a mood ring with your name on it!
- Ross Miller: I still want to put in another hour or so to Fallout 3 before setting my sights on Fable 2 and Dead Space. Also planning to pull out Oblivion for some compare and contrast with the aforementioned wasteland survival title.

More Far Cry 2.. It picks up a bit around Act 2, but there's so much wrong with it.
Wish I'd gone for Dead Space or waited for Fallout 3 now.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 24th 2008 8:45PM
Do you find that the enemies can spot you way to easily when your walking around in the jungle?
That was my main problem in the Farcry/Crysis series.
Haggard @ Oct 24th 2008 9:57PM
The sneaking aspect is in fact very good in FC2 - perhaps the best first person stealth I've ever seen in a game not entirely about stealth (e.g. not Thief).
You really do get the feeling of stalking and recon when hiding in the long grass, creeping round and surveying an outpost.
It's also quite easy to watch the enemies, see where they're looking and sneak round to cover etc, meaning you feel a lot like Snake or James Bond (in a cutscene/movie).
Plus there are so many ways to fight in the game it puts BioShock to shame - however, these do not save the game from flaws such as repetetive missions, huge drives to get to objectives, and far too many (respawning) enemies when travelling.
While the game does look pretty (and the PC version is incredibly scaleable) - the problem is that it's very brown. If people complained about the lack of colour in Gears of War, then by comparison you may as well be playing FC2 on a monochrome TV - except black is brown, and white is also brown.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 24th 2008 10:17PM
Sounds like I'll be checking this game out then.
I can overlook a lot of graphical issues but AI is something that is really a game breaker for me.
Haggard @ Oct 24th 2008 10:19PM
If you're a console gamer I'd say this one's more of a rent than a buy based on the singleplayer, because excellent though the combat is you WILL get sick of it after you bump into the 845th enemy jeep patrol.
I haven't yet tried the multiplayer yet though, but the combat system gives me hope of it being good. I fear there's not enough depth to match TF2 and not enough polish to match CoD4 at the moment though.
Yourself @ Oct 24th 2008 8:41PM
My 360's at home, parts for my new desktop in the mail so I'll be playing... none of these new games. Hopefully sometime next week I'll have my PC assembled and ready for Fallout 3.
Until then, Kingdom Hearts (which I finally gave in and bought), restarting Digital Devil Saga II (awesome, awesome game), and finishing No More Heroes/Jade Empire. And trying to get better with Meta Knight. Christ, typing this out I realize I have way too much to play this weekend. There's no way I'm going to get to it all =[
vidGuy @ Oct 24th 2008 8:53PM
Portal: Still Alive. I never got the OB so this is a pretty good download game.
&rew @ Oct 24th 2008 8:56PM
Along with Yggdra Union, and maybe Castlevania, I will be playing don't tell people its my birthday tommorow, why am I telling you this? Well because I don't consider you people, and don't be offended, I'm sure its mutual.
Superstar90 @ Oct 24th 2008 9:53PM
You don't like me? I like you... *puppy eyes*
Haggard @ Oct 24th 2008 9:59PM
BIRTHDAY BEATS
&rew @ Oct 24th 2008 10:29PM
@Superstar90
Who said anything about like? I said I don't consider you people
@haggard
Who said anything about a birthday, you must have misread it.
Now to leave the internet for travel related reasons.
syrik zero @ Oct 24th 2008 9:11PM
Griffin in too cool for school
&rew @ Oct 24th 2008 9:38PM
I believe it is spelt 2, not too.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 24th 2008 9:14PM
Far Cry 2, Fable 2 & finishing off Battlefield Bad Conpany. That is, until the sun goes down and the Necromorphs cone out, then I grab my beam cutter.....
syrik zero @ Oct 24th 2008 9:20PM
Ross, you still keen and sending me Fallout 3 when you're done? =)
PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Oct 24th 2008 9:28PM
The question should be what are you NOT playing!
My weekend is as follows:
Saturday Night there is a local MMA fight in my town. Will be attending that and DVR-ing the world series .... Now as for games
Been playing Little Big Planet (epic)
Far Cry 2 Multiplayer
SOCOM:Confrontation
Dead Space
Rock Band 2
Also just downloaded Siren with my newly upgraded 250 Gb HDD
Will also be mixing in with some Ninja Gaiden 2, MGS 4, Gran Turismo Prologue and Pure with any free time... I have Fable 2 but I haven't opened it yet ... Reason being is that it is my last allowable purchase this holiday season. So, I am waiting for the reviews on Fallout 3 and will probably trade it in towards that.
Kabobrocks @ Oct 24th 2008 9:44PM
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Superstar90 @ Oct 24th 2008 9:52PM
Castlevania is the best :D
Chase @ Oct 24th 2008 9:48PM
Ludwig reminded me. We need a Joystiq level featuring the Joystiq Podcast peoples. Or hey, maybe a Justin and Griffin themed level?
I'll be playing Confrontation, World at War beta, and finishing up Burst Limit while waiting for LittleBigPlanet and Fallout 3.
Haggard @ Oct 24th 2008 10:02PM
Or - a Home space where the latest Joystiq podcast can be listened to ambiently, whilst everyone listening can waddle around and exchange witticisms.
Chase @ Oct 24th 2008 10:14PM
Haggard, you are a genius! Now someone do that, and e-mail me when it's done.
My e-mail address is: noreallyimagrrl@gmail.com
Superstar90 @ Oct 24th 2008 9:51PM
Spider-Man Web of Shadows is incredible on the DS, probably the best version of it.
That's it because Rune Factory 2 got pushed back to November :(
Dylan @ Oct 24th 2008 10:08PM
I was going to be playing Resistance 2, but GameStop just called and let me know LittleBigPlanet was coming in tomorrow! Woohoo1
Premature ejaculation man @ Oct 24th 2008 10:18PM
RRoD, so I may as well try and get 120 stars in Mario Galaxy.
I want an awesome platformer on the xbox 360 =(
Superstar90 @ Oct 24th 2008 11:20PM
Dont worry, Banjo 3 is coming soon and Banjo 1 is coming along with it.
PSN: Erdie @ Oct 24th 2008 10:19PM
Resistance 2 beta!
j.howlett @ Oct 24th 2008 10:33PM

Jacksons @ Oct 25th 2008 12:39PM
Man, if I had a dime every time I heard that excuse. Wait, are we still talking about games?
Mr Khan @ Oct 24th 2008 11:19PM
Still reveling in my Wii being back online by dividing my time neatly between Megaman 9 and Super Mario RPG
Somebody PLEASE explain how the hell you're supposed to beet Magma Man? He just sprays fire everywhere. Where's the hole in his pattern? Or do you just have to keep jumping, getting the occasional shot in?
Bear in mind i only have the Black Hole Bomb and the Cement Shot
TheOverlord#2 @ Oct 25th 2008 8:45AM
Go beat Jewel Man(Weakness: Black Hole Bomb), then beat Plug Man(his shots are reflected by Jewel Man's weapon), then beat Tornado Man(Weakness: Plug Man's weapon), then beat Magma Man.(Weakness: Tornado Man's Weapon)
:P
Mr Khan @ Oct 25th 2008 12:13PM
That makes sense, when i actually managed to make it to Jewel man (with 0 lives and a sliver of health left) i did notice that the black hole weapon got rid of all his jewels
PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Oct 25th 2008 10:57PM
That games friggin hard as hell man ... I don't know who to beat first ... I can't beat a damn level and I have played allot of Mega Man Games ... I tried that water lady ... shit
Courtney @ Oct 25th 2008 12:46AM
I'll be playing the same thing I played last weekend and the same thing I'll be playing for many weekends to come: Remodeling my new house.
I bought a rather run down 108-year-old farmhouse 10 miles outside of town. The property rocks (beautiful view overlooking the river), but I figure I have at least 3 months of busting my ass on the weekends before I can move in.
Saria the Cat @ Oct 25th 2008 7:40AM
Sounds beautiful but a lot of hard work! I am sure it will be gorgeous when it's done. :)
Courtney @ Oct 25th 2008 11:27AM
Thanks!
Courtney @ Oct 25th 2008 9:08PM
If anyone is curious, I put up some pics on my blog before I went out to work today:
http://shoestringtheory.com/2008/10/25/we-bought-a-house/
Bowser the Baptist @ Oct 26th 2008 6:21AM
That looked beautiful. I wish you good luck on your project.
Hurricane1 @ Oct 25th 2008 1:12AM
AM I the only one who thinks the """WRUP""" JOYSTIQ posts should be done away with??? FOR EVER?
I just skip them every got damn time because I dont give two shits about what the self righteous nerds who post the ever degrading bulletins are playing, at all, ever.
"SO why do you even bother reading joystiq?!"
Because beyond the muck of "GEE WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING????" and the insanely idiotic podcasts, theres a small bit of actual fucking NEWS within this tripe which I gotta sift through to find.
I own an xbox360. thats it. So I really am beginning to see how pointless it is for me to bother with this WEB LOG and instead go straight to xb3f more.
Not that you care.
But i think it important to voice such opinions yes?
Good day.
Christopher Grant @ Oct 25th 2008 1:15AM
Uh, banned?
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 25th 2008 2:08AM
Thats a nice way to end an illustrious posting history of "3"
syrik zero @ Oct 25th 2008 4:24AM
You may as well just be name hurricane katrina, everyone wishes it just didn't happen...
If that isn't funny to anyone else, I'm sorry. I just finished a night of drinking and Rock Band 2ing. Hope everyone is having as much fun as me, except Hurricane1, he/she can have a bad weekend =)
Yourself @ Oct 25th 2008 5:03AM
Yeah, God bloody forbid Joystiq once a week give gamers a chance to weigh in on how they spend their time, I don't know, doing that thing which is the entire subject material of this site?
E.J. @ Oct 25th 2008 6:42AM
cgrant, if you ban him, we'll no longer have the pleasure of reading his comment and asking ourselves "is this guy on crack?" and laugh.
his rant with awkward emphasis's on CAPPED words is pure comedy. really, try reading it aloud without laughing. i couldn't do it.
Saria the Cat @ Oct 25th 2008 7:26AM
Yeah, I too hate to be reminded that it's actually PEOPLE that write news, not little tiny magic unicorn robots that whiz around the world, nibble magic "tip" fruit from the "grapevine," then vomit out text and shit rainbows. Damn you, Joystiq humans, for constantly crushing my dreams.
Haggard @ Oct 25th 2008 8:35AM
I'm pretty much a purely PC gamer - but I read this blog because I care about gaming in general and I like to stay up to date. I also think the people who write it are pretty funny people, and I enjoy commenting on it.
So I don't mind when I see the umpteenth Fable 2 or LBP article, or stuff like this which appeals to the community here.
Markez @ Oct 25th 2008 11:54AM
If he's banned, how're we all going to know if he decides to post in another 2 years if he's banned!? I'll be all over Fable II, some Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, and Final Fantasy IV on the DS.
@ Saria, sounds like you'd enjoy some "Unicorn Planet" on Youtube...
Bowser the Baptist @ Oct 25th 2008 6:29AM
I have to admit, I laughed at Hurricane's comment. There was some truth; this is all rather narcissistic. Some of us revel in this fact, the reason why I'm posting, I might add, but a banning for stating the obvious is rather unnecessary.
Anyway: Space Invaders Extreme and Bangai. When I get home I'll start playing Music for the PS1. Remember that game/software?
t_m @ Oct 25th 2008 7:37AM
World of Goo.
Phoneix Wright.
Maybe start on Fallout (1).
Saria the Cat @ Oct 25th 2008 7:40AM
I'll be playing the "Why am I not in the U.S. right now?" game. And losing.
syrik zero @ Oct 25th 2008 2:08PM
That's right, you even got a special mention on a podcast for being in Japan. And you still find time to comment on here.
Me and a friend are planning to make the same trip next year! Go to Japan and go to the TGS for a day, maybe more if it's awesome. I can't wait!
