Though the initial report from Media Molecule following the delay of the once Qur'an-infused platformer, LittleBigPlanet, was that the title would now be dropping during the week of October 27, dozens of readers have sent in tips reporting that GameStop's lovable customer service robot, Aeris, recently called to say the title would be in North American stores October 25. For those still recovering from a start-of-weekend bender, that's today.
We'd suggest calling your local GameStop before making the trip down, just to avoid any possible disappointment. If the very thought of crossing the threshold of the oft-reviled retailer makes your skin crawl, rest assured that with the title readily available at GameStop, it shouldn't be too much longer before it appears in the rest of your local brick-and-mortars.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

I got it at Game Crazy. Gamestop was being a bunch of 'tards and only selling preorders whether they had extra or not. No worries, Game Crazy was happy to sell it to me, and I was happy to buy it. :)

I also got the call even though I switched my preorder to Fallout 3 more than three weeks ago *shrugs*.
Hey speaking of that, how about you guys break the street day for Fallout? I'd appreciate it a lot more than this :(

Oh no you dee-ent!
If this was the pre-beta period, you'd be invisible before you managed to say "I didn't mean to say LBP sucks, it's just that Fallout 3 is more of my type of a game."
:P

Nah I still like it but it's a casual game. The fact that I'll even play it all says enough about the game, but it's not going to hold my attention for more than an hour or two at a time whereas I'll probably play fallout 3 for hours and hours at a time.

Casual nothin'. Based on the beta, I have a strong feeling I'll put more hours into this game than everything else that comes out this generation combined.

I'm anticipating Fallout 3 to blow Fable 2 and LBP out of the water this October.

Doesn't this kind of screw any midnight opening events? Or weren't there any for LBP? Either way, I can't believe I didn't see this story until after gamestop closed. I need the game...NOW

I should probably defuse my own comment there. I was joking, not trolling. Reading it, that's not at all clear. I should maybe brush up on my emoticons.

As I mentioned in the podcast comments, my copy shipped yesterday. Of course, overnight means I'll get it Monday. :P
I got my code a couple of weeks ago via email. Weird that you guys haven't gotten your codes yet, but then again, I thought they were emailing those codes out not long after the bonus was announced, but I didn't get mine for a couple of months.

What's great is I got my code in an email, but it's never worked. When I emailed gamestop they said it wouldn't work until the game is out, which is bullshit. One of those good LEAVE ME ALONE answers so now I'm going to have to bother them at the store about it when I go pick it up. Sob.

Not to be a naysayer but I think the instructions in the email specifically say that you have to input the code after you load LBP the first time, so it's not really a leave me alone answer. I will find out soon enough as soon as my wife and son finish watching Alvin and the Chipmunks on MY tv.

Sony's collapse before the face of tyranny was rather disappointing. There has been a devalorizing of LBP in my eyes, silly as that sounds. I expected a little more spine. They are a faceless mega-corporation, answerable to the shareholders and the bottom line, not ethics, but still.

Care to elaborate?
If by "devalorizing" you mean whoring out Sackboy and going a tad to far with hype(Killer App!? Defining PS3 Mascot!?) then I'd semi-agree.
Otherwise, knowing you , my opinion will probably be opposite.

Voted down to oblivion? Wow. And here was me thinking the people of Joystiq preferred a society freer from the tyranny of select groups. But I guess the gas of marketing is too strong an opiate to refuse for some, for most, actually.
Also, I agree with Jacky Boy. What was once a cute icon has now become a dirty blow-up doll. I was once a believer, but the constant plugging and incessant reminding that this is an "important" game has turned me off.

You mind not voting them down so much that you can't even read the comment after highlighting it? AT LEAST change the highlighting color so that we can actually read it when we want to, and have reply visible.
That's the one thing I really hate about Joystiq.

@ Bowser, ease up on the histrionics and multiuniincrediverbosity. We're talking about a video game company. And you're taking them to task for marketing a big title that many people were looking forward to? Where/when is it that they lost their spine/ethics in marketing a big title, to the point that you lose interest in purchasing it, to that point that you were turned off as a consumer? What pushed it over the line for you? You are a consumer, in this instance, and companies market to consumers. I don't quite follow what went too far.\
@ Omega, it happens in firefox, doesn't happen in IE.
@ Obie, genuine lol there, pal, congrats.

I still believe that a total recall was pointless if a patch was to be released anyway...
...unless MM recalled 95% the games to increase their value and rarity then sell the games they've kept as "Rare Uncensored Editions" on Ebay.

I dunno...if you don't patch it then in all technicality it's a Rare Collector's Item. You could make some decent money off it if you found someone crazy enough to buy it.

More than 50% of 360s aren't connected to the internet. I don't know what the figure for PS3 is, perhaps because it has wireless out of the box it's higher, and since it costs more it might require those who buy it to have a bigger commitment to technology.
The point is that if the game wasn't recalled then the offending content would still be present for a significant number of those who bought the game.
