Resident Evil 5 producer: Wii can't handle RE5's title screen
There are many writers on the Joystiq payroll who are of the firm opinion that the Wii incarnation of Resident Evil 4 was the best version of the multi-platform title. That's why we were understandably disappointed when it was outed that Resident Evil 5 would not be coming to Nintendo's console -- though according the game's producer, Masachika Kawata, a Wii port of RE5 was never a remote possibility. Due to the game's graphical improvements over the previous installment, "The title screen of this couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii," Kawata explained in a recent GameTrailers interview.
Nintendo fanboys shouldn't be too disheartened by this somewhat brash claim -- in a later, seperate interview with GameTrailers, Jun Takeuchi, yet another producer for the title, said that Capcom would love to continue the Resident Evil franchise on the Wii, though such a reunion is "a couple of years down the road."

I'll shove 99 bottles of beer up your ass.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 25th 2008 6:03PM
lol, I think this comment is even better out of context
Chris Are @ Oct 25th 2008 6:03PM
Haha, Joystiq deleted the comment JUST as I was about to call him an asshole for getting that song stuck in my head.
Hell hath no fury like the man who gets an insanely mundane song stuck in his head.
Badger_badger_badger @ Oct 25th 2008 6:06PM
Ahaha, now everyone who reads that comment will go LOL WUT
Haggard @ Oct 25th 2008 6:19PM
LOL WUT
Jake11 @ Oct 25th 2008 6:19PM
LOL WUT??
Chin-Poh @ Oct 25th 2008 6:30PM
LOLWUT the hell happened? Guess I got here too late. :)
Ethan @ Oct 25th 2008 6:39PM
A comment about the 100 bottles song got deleted?
Markez @ Oct 25th 2008 6:40PM
Not 100, 99 you idiot! :P
mr mobius @ Oct 25th 2008 9:09PM
In context of the topic of this post, the threatening nature of this post still works brilliantly.
Ethan @ Oct 25th 2008 9:31PM
It starts from 100 and goes down no, since the first post got deleted?
Ridgecity @ Oct 26th 2008 12:20AM
99 bottles? is that like a Capcom code or something?
Badger_badger_badger @ Oct 25th 2008 5:36PM
Well, I expect a very nice title screen.
Meta @ Oct 25th 2008 7:54PM
Or a poorly optimized one.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 25th 2008 5:38PM
I love how he compared it with the ps2 for the added burn. I'm going to enjoy the fights in this article.
EMOruffino @ Oct 26th 2008 12:44AM
your right... i dont see anything racist about this at all....
in other news, it reminds me about the time i went to Detroit and asked for directions to the eminem concert. :p (in actuality i hate eminem, but they didnt get the joke)
Foetoid @ Oct 26th 2008 3:54AM
Um, there were no Zombies at all in RE4 or RE5. They were normal people infected with a parasite to make them controllable by one commander (the bad guy). They still toddled around and did normal human stuff, even using weapons and grenades. WTF is with the zombie comments, have any of you played RE4?
Foetoid @ Oct 26th 2008 3:59AM
Reply system FTL!
D_Average @ Oct 26th 2008 12:51PM
This is an outrage!!
Hala Madrid!! @ Oct 25th 2008 5:38PM
That picture is NOT racist at all.
Haggard @ Oct 25th 2008 6:06PM
I like the guy doing some clubbing on the roof in the background
Bigfoot @ Oct 25th 2008 6:22PM
You're right, it isn't racist. What's so racist about some guy being attacked by zombies?
Ethan @ Oct 25th 2008 6:40PM
I find the mouth splitting slur to be particularly insulting.
Phi Nguyen @ Oct 25th 2008 8:31PM
"Yeah, those black dudes are only attacking the white guy and not each other" *end sarcasm*
Seriously, WTF. I'm sick and tired of people calling RE5 racist. What's going to happen when these hypersensitive people seeing the black female support-character in the game kill these zombies? What are they going to say then?
Henry @ Oct 25th 2008 9:35PM
The first poster is right, this picture is VERY racist!
How can you not see that? Zombies are constantly being portrayed in a bad light and it's time they were accepted into society!
Eh @ Oct 25th 2008 11:42PM
It must be true, theres so much drama in the LBC.
Fosssil @ Oct 26th 2008 12:23AM
I'm surprised people are still upset about this. If anything, Capcom is taking an affirmative action approach to this zombie thing. RE4 had Spanish zombies, RE5 has African Zombies, RE6 will probably have Chinese zombies, RE7 you'll be shooting hippies, etc. It's really nothing to make a fuss about.
Desert Eagle @ Oct 26th 2008 1:47AM
So that means that in RE6 the Triad will be involved on the plot...?
Foetoid @ Oct 26th 2008 3:59AM

That Pic is awesome! and! thqat better be a dope ass title screen...lolz
TheAbbotFire @ Oct 25th 2008 5:46PM
Well that's that.
Nintendo fanboys really shouldn't bitch about this at all. It's Ninendo's fault for building a system with significantly less power than it's other next gen competitors.
And since I'm a fanboy for both the Wii and the 360 it really doesn't matter.
My advice to Wii only owners...buy a 360. You'll be glad you did.
Arrowned @ Oct 25th 2008 5:49PM
I approve of this comment.
Unless you're a diehard fanboy, you can get pretty much the entire range of awesome modern gameplay with just those two systems.
propanol @ Oct 25th 2008 6:03PM
Not that technology matters. If the core idea behind your game has substance and is well implemented your game will be fun regardless of what technology you use.
Jacksons @ Oct 25th 2008 6:14PM
@Propanol
Ok then, you go right ahead and play the same 10 games re-skinned 100 different ways on the Atari 2600. Technology matters a lot.
Markez @ Oct 25th 2008 6:19PM
Hey bowling ball, your comment is stupid. Atari 2600? Same 10 games 100 different ways? Hate to bait you here to saying even more stupid things a bowling ball would say, but how are either elements of your stupid comment remotely relevant?
Mr Khan @ Oct 25th 2008 6:21PM
Heh, i know i'm not missing much, despite what people tell me. Since i've never owned a non-Nintendo system, i'm used to "missing out" on stuff everyone else got to play for my entire gaming career, and really don't have many regrets
Kenny @ Oct 25th 2008 6:33PM
So, Mr Khan, you really really don't regret missing some of the best games ever? Really? Because playing only Nintendo consoles is a little weird. There's a lot out there to see.
Mr Khan @ Oct 25th 2008 7:09PM
My tastes are my own, and while the PlayStation, Dreamcast, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 are all filled with worthy libraries of their own, i am content with what i have.
Few regrets: Fighters Megamix off the Saturn, a lot of Sony's second-party stuff for PlayStation (namely Crash, Spyro, and Ape Escape), as well as KoTOR & Fable off the Xbox, Jak & Daxter off the PS2. Jet Set Radio off the Dreamcast. LBP off the PS3 and Fable 2 off the 360
Not enough to compel me to buy them, though, certainly. Nintendo games have always had a peculiar appeal that made them unique, and few games captured that magic (like the ones i listed), while Nintendo platforms have always had a steady diet of not just Nintendo games, but Nintendo-esque games (like Sonic games, or other games with such charm)
Haggard @ Oct 25th 2008 8:40PM
Valve's entire library says hello. GTA, Max Payne, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Splinter Cell and Call of Duty also wave shyly from a nearby table.
Mr Khan @ Oct 25th 2008 8:52PM
GTA has never particularly appealed to me, though Valve's works certainly have. But i've had bad experiences with trying to make my PC gaming compatible, as my system was always too buggy even when i met the recommended specs, i would just encounter random crashes with whatever i tried
Foetoid @ Oct 26th 2008 3:58AM
Damn Kahn, i know you're a Nintendo loyalist, but missing out on God of War, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy VII and X, and Fable is unforgivable. I'm playing through the PC version of FFVII right now, but i originally finished it on PS1. I'm in the same boat, i've never owned a non-nintendo console, but i've played and finished most of the good games on other consoles too.
bm @ Oct 26th 2008 5:54AM
"God of War,"
I already played this in 1989.
"Devil May Cry,"
urgh
"Final Fantasy ... X,"
BARF
"and Fable"
Fable 1? Give me a break.
"the PC version of FFVII"
KILL IT WITH FIRE
(proper ff7 was ok tho)
Bowser the Baptist @ Oct 26th 2008 8:23AM
Don't listen to their propaganda, Senior Khan. I have a 360 and, believe me, the game library is awfully bland. If you're the type that goes for Hollywood codswallop every summer (Iron Man, Indiana Jones) then you may find an interest. But if you prefer something more unique, stylised, then I suggest you stay away from that console.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 25th 2008 5:49PM
hehe, Moorio stole your hearts
DangerMouse @ Oct 25th 2008 5:51PM
Next-gen title screen!?!? I'm sooooo buying this day 1.
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Oct 25th 2008 5:51PM
get a life.
Cinder @ Oct 25th 2008 5:51PM
Although I have a Wii and enjoy it thoroughly, the statement is probably true and the headline alone had me in stitches
Maurice M @ Oct 25th 2008 5:54PM
They'd have to majorly strip down the graphics, re-write most of the AI, and possibly remove the co-op. At that point it's like developing a new game.
Haggard @ Oct 25th 2008 8:43PM
I'm not even sure that RE5's target market would choose the Wii version over PS3/360, and would thereby not even increase the profit/budget.
jimmygotsmack @ Oct 25th 2008 5:54PM
I never really expected re5 to be on the wii, at least in its current state. I wounder what this "speculated" game they have planned for the wii though.
