Zombies!!! board game to eat video game brains
Interestingly, the game is being handled by Wisconsin-based Big Rooster, the same Big Rooster that recently had another tabletop-to-video game translation, Talisman, canned by would be publisher Capcom. Here's hoping that Zombies!!! doesn't suffer a similar fate, or at the very least if it does it can drag itself up from the grave.
[Thanks, J]

Can never get enough zombies!
Trickob @ Oct 26th 2008 2:52AM
you spelled it wrong.
it's "Zombies!!!"
J.Goodwin @ Oct 25th 2008 10:39PM
Excellent.

"The company describes these as the 'initial' platforms for the project, and we fully expect Zombies!!! to scuffle onto others should the creeping undead take hold."
What's left besides Wiiware? Stand-alone? DSi-Store? Or maybe you mean iPhone game?
TheOverlord#2 @ Oct 25th 2008 10:50PM
I think Joystiq likes zombies a little bit.
Will @ Oct 26th 2008 11:30AM
Correction, everyone loves zombies a lot =)
Obie @ Oct 25th 2008 10:52PM
Lol it's zombie day at joystiq...and I love it!
GoldenS1104 @ Oct 26th 2008 12:03AM
I was just about to post the same thing. Seriously, the last few days has been filled with zombie related news.
AntiHero @ Oct 25th 2008 11:28PM
This is awesome news! I own the zombies game and a few of the expansions, it's really fun but hard to find people who will play it. I also own the Humans!!! game. Its pretty much the same thing just reversed.
Waffle Slayer @ Oct 25th 2008 11:37PM
Ya, most of us own Life.
Saria the Cat @ Oct 26th 2008 9:03AM
I love love love nerdy board games but it is indeed hard to find people to play, especially because the rules can get so complicated...But somehow, when a complicated board game gets "XBLA" tacked onto the end, everyone wants to try. Now if only we can get them to play the ACTUAL games...
J.Goodwin @ Oct 26th 2008 9:44AM
People get excited about them being on XBLA for exactly that reason, it's impossible to find people to play locally, but there's always someone online willing to play on Live.
Will @ Oct 26th 2008 11:32AM
Yeah, Goodwin. I play Settlers of Catan on a website since no one will play locally (and I don't own it anyway, but if I did.. no one would play). A lot of people forget that these popular titles are already online before XBLA.
If anyone wants to play some Settlers.. post your steam ID or something ;D
Saria the Cat @ Oct 26th 2008 11:37AM
@Goodwin: You're completely right. It cuts out that hard-to-fulfill requirement of having people in your house to play. I just wish my local friends that play XBLA versions of the board games would also stop on by at my place to play the real ones with me in person. Or try out new board games with me that aren't ported onto the XBLA.
theturtle363 @ Oct 26th 2008 1:04AM
i think im getting a little sick of zombies
Obie @ Oct 26th 2008 1:12AM
NEVAR!
paralipsis @ Oct 26th 2008 1:09AM
I love zombie media of all kinds, but this is not the board game that I was hoping to see get a digital iteration. A cool theme does not make up for a bland play mechanic.
tensider @ Oct 26th 2008 11:19AM
I agree, paralipsis. I've heard the board game is better with expansions, but when my friends and I played the basic version it dragged on way past fun. Let's hope they tweak the XBLA version to play faster.
Now the new Monsterpocalypse as a XBLA title -- *That* would be sweet.
michas_pi @ Oct 26th 2008 1:29AM
The game looks similar to Betrayal at House on the Hill.
BigD145 @ Oct 26th 2008 1:47AM
It's far more portable and approachable as a board game.

Is that Space Hulk?
Saria the Cat @ Oct 26th 2008 9:04AM
Woo-hoo! I get excited whenever this happens. Anyone up for some Arkham Horror?
hibikir @ Oct 26th 2008 10:18AM
There's hundreds of great board games in the world. Zombies!!! isn't one of them. It's slow, it's boring, and it's very, very random. BGG's average user rating for it is a paltry 5 out of 10
Courtney @ Oct 26th 2008 11:11AM
I'm always down for more zombie games and more interesting board games being ported to XBLA or PSN.
Gnoll @ Oct 26th 2008 11:13AM
I've thought about buying this game a few times, but now I'll wait until I've played this version. Unfortunately a lot of board games are as expensive, if not more, a lot of video games, so playing them AS video games usually means demos or a much cheaper overall price before committing to the physical version. This isn't one of them exactly, but I'm still always happy with any board game coming to the 360. Now if we could just have Agricola...
Saria the Cat @ Oct 26th 2008 11:36AM
That's actually a pretty good point. It's all well and good to say people should now start trying out the real board games, but it's true that XBLA is usually a much cheaper alternative that doesn't require people to be in your house to play. Our board game investments over here have well reached over $200.
BigD145 @ Oct 26th 2008 12:53PM
You'll spend anywhere from 10-50 ($42 for Agricola) on a board game, but you don't have to spend 300+ on a console and electricity is not a necessity. At the very least you only need an 8 watt compact fluorescent.
Gnoll @ Oct 26th 2008 5:56PM
Agricola cost me (and is listed on amazon as this) between $60 and $70. I think there were different releases because I saw one listed somewhere else that was in the $40 range, but not the same as the one that is more expensive.
Also, here is the thing: I'm going to have a 360 anyway. I play both video games and board games, I don't own a 360 just for remakes of board games. That means the cost of the 360 doesn't factor into my personal purchases either way, since I'm not choosing one or the other. Since I already have the 360, that means it's between paying anywhere from $20 to $70 for board games that I may or may not like instead of paying $10-15 for the Xbox version which, if I enjoy, means I'm getting the board game version too. It's not a waste having both because having it on the Xbox means not having to have friends nearby, but if I buy a physical board game that it turns out I don't like at all, then it was a waste.
