And the Dead Space Costume Contest winner is ...
Sam Warman! Congratulations to Mr. Warman who won the votes of our esteemed judges panel with his costume's "surprisingly good detail" -- "that's a lot of stuff!" observed one of the judges on his scoring card. Also, Sam's last name is "War-man," which is totally rad.*

I wouldn't like to be stuck in a vacuum wearing quite a few of those :P
Jmerridew124 @ Oct 27th 2008 6:08PM
If you are saying what I think you're saying, I think you mean a high pressure system?
Kellydude025 @ Oct 27th 2008 6:19PM
...a vacuum is a place with no air/ no air pressure...
Haggard @ Oct 27th 2008 7:15PM
e.g. space?
Yeah, I meant it.. I think
Saria the Cat @ Oct 27th 2008 10:11PM
@jmerridew/kelly: *shakes head sadly* You both just had to be "that guy."
Jmerridew124 @ Oct 28th 2008 12:42PM
No, I thought you were referring to it constricting and chunking a body, what did you mean?
5th hot meal @ Oct 27th 2008 4:50PM
Yes!!!!
well done that man, looks great! if you wear that suit does it give you the legal right to stomp on people's heads?
aristokrat @ Oct 27th 2008 9:25PM
No, but I think it does allow him to take people out with his extra-long forearms.
Tjordan0331 @ Oct 27th 2008 5:00PM
Good job goes to the winner. Looks like he put a lot of time and effort into this! Also, that tubby kid (Pic 11 I believe) made me laugh out loud.
Cubfan786 @ Oct 27th 2008 5:04PM
There are bunnies in Dead Space????
Picture 7
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 27th 2008 5:07PM
the costumes created for this contest didn't have to be Dead Space related
Danny F. @ Oct 27th 2008 5:07PM
Definitely a winner, other entries were cool. One kid used spare parts and boxes for his costume lol niiice xbox faceplate lol. But the winner won hands down on the details and depth, nice job Warman o_O!!
jay @ Oct 27th 2008 5:08PM
Man the guy with the Halo action figures must never get laid.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 27th 2008 5:10PM
What is #9 supposed to be?
Also, big ups to bunny and plastic bottle guy
Yourself @ Oct 27th 2008 5:11PM
How could you not give it to the water bottle guy? That suit was awesome.
DangerMouse @ Oct 27th 2008 5:51PM
I have to say, that was pretty well done. Except for the newspaper ads, maybe.
FlamingEffigy @ Oct 27th 2008 5:15PM
As well made as those all are i cant help but be reminded that in real life a cybernetic suit wearing action hero would actually end up looking ridiculous...
DangerMouse @ Oct 27th 2008 5:27PM
When you win, you win. When you lose, you lose big.
Dirty @ Oct 27th 2008 5:48PM
I refuse to mock these people for trying to win a contest.
Good Job everyone.
Snipermike @ Oct 27th 2008 5:28PM
Did Mr. Warman get all the parts for his costume from the shit on the floor. My god man I hope a vacuum cleaner was in the prize bundle.
beans @ Oct 27th 2008 5:32PM
hate to be a naysayer but those are all kinda weak...
Jefferson @ Oct 27th 2008 5:37PM
From the looks of things, they are all losers

Hickeroar @ Oct 27th 2008 5:43PM
Wow, how did any of them win. They're all awful.
Derwin @ Oct 27th 2008 5:48PM
Good job Mr. Warman, your costume was very detailed and deserved the win. To the guy who did the plastic bottles and recyclables, your idea was similar to my first idea (the "earth friendly" costume). I ended up going a similar route, by only using items found around my house (I made a rule not to spend money on pieces for my costume). A sort of journal of my work can be seen at www.photobucket.com/deadspacecostume

#10 is win. I wish we readers were able to vote (anonymously) on these kinds of contests.

yowza @ pic 1
Amoveo @ Oct 27th 2008 10:06PM
Somehow the only female entry didn't win. I'm not sure how that works, but I admire Joystiq's faith to good costumes.
Anticrawl @ Oct 27th 2008 6:10PM
Haha, number 11 should have won, it was priceless.
j.howlett @ Oct 27th 2008 6:56PM
wow. nice work. the only comment i would make on appearance, don't take it negatively, is they fit my mental image of what i thought some posters looked like
Dark Assassin @ Oct 27th 2008 8:40PM
At least the bottle suit is recyclable with everyone worrying about global warming and stuff.
le roi dans la mer @ Oct 27th 2008 9:11PM
The only problem with Mr. Warman's entry is that a Jesuit priet would never resort to the big guns. Maybe the vocation on the ID should be more like Intergalactic Prayer Consultant.
citykids @ Oct 27th 2008 10:11PM
Nice costume, I wonder how long before his mom came downstairs and told him to clean up that mess his made in the basement.
citykids @ Oct 27th 2008 10:14PM
oops, "he made" :)
Saria the Cat @ Oct 27th 2008 10:12PM
:) I love it when people put work into nerdy game-related costumes like this and not be creepy at the same time. Good work everyone!
Uncontrol @ Oct 27th 2008 10:17PM
water bottle costume was way better
ScottG13 @ Oct 28th 2008 8:49AM
I must admit, those made me laugh. I especially like the Halo toy display in the background of one of them.
Where is the Fallout costume contest?
Brodo @ Oct 30th 2008 10:20AM
