I finished the first F.E.A.R when I bought the Platinum Collection a few weeks back, which is just $20 now and a good value for PC gamers who haven't checked out this series. Loved it and can't wait for the next one.

I finished all three of them recently myself. In my opinion, I still think it's one of the best fps games out there. Fear 2 is going to kick some serious ass when it's finally released.

Is it just me or did anyone else find it hilarious when the baddies would go "FUCKKK!!" (in the first game at least, haven't played the ex packs yet) in slo-mo as you'd move in to blow them to bits lmao.

I really liked the first game, the story was good and the voice acting was excellent. The player movement animations were rough though, and the forced excuses in the story as to why there was no backup/teammate AI.

I'm someone who is scared to DEATH of horror movies, absolutely cannot watch them yet I didn't find the original games scary one bit when many others say they are. : /

I did enjoy fighting the Replicas, more so than most enemies in most FPS games, just loved all their profanities and freaking out over one guy kicking all of their asses.

But I don't understand why the Point Man isn't in the sequel, he's the main character, the son of Alma. FEAR 2 is supposed to retcon the expansion packs but maybe not, didn't it seem like he died at the end of the Extraction Point expansion pack?

i loved the replicas because I could blow their heads off and cut them in half with a shotgun blast. The whole, "skeleton laser" gun was a lot of fun too

I really didn't understand why the original garnered such great reviews. After about half way through, the game became a slog fest. The environment never changed, the enemies never changed, and I thought it actually lost it's psychological edge the further it went.

I played the 360 version, not the PC. Perhaps it was significantly different, but the first didn't do anything to make me want to play the expansions or a sequel.

Ditto. I didn't like FEAR at all. I thought it was tremendously boring and tedious. It felt like the whole game was in office buildings, warehouses and office building basements. And you fight a legion of the exact same guys. It's far from the only FPS to be repetitious, but FEAR really made me feel the repetition. I only played about half way through, so maybe I missed out some twists at the end, but I just couldn't be bothered to play any more.

Goddammit I love a little bit of blood in my games. Between this, Dead Space and Fallout 3 I make a lot of bad guys hurt.

FEAR had some of the best enemy AI I've seen. It was realistic and tactical. I loved the game, aside from the fact that you quickly realize that Alma (at least while she's a little girl) never really hurts you so there's no reason to be freaked out.

I've been looking forward to project origin for a long time, and now it's coming to my platform of choice. Definately pre-purchasing this on Steam.

Is it just me, or is that the most realistic blood in a game ever?

Anyway, time to judge a game by its prequel's merits.

The AI was good, the story was okay, the characters were one-dimensional, the combat was good, the bullet time was cool, but tacked on and it was only scary on the first playthrough.

Might rent this.

For clarification purposes: FEAR is not survival horror. It's a pretty straight forward action game with horror elements.

Looking forward to playing this.
