kodros= designing those levels took the designers a long time to complete, maybe a year or more, and they got paid to do it. that was there job.

i love how you compare yourself to them.
so u enjoy doing what they get paid to do for free??

i like playing games that are made by game developers, i dont want to make a game after i come home from work.

jack- why did you call out cellien like he/she did not know anything artistically, and you now find out he/she has an artistic job...
so youre 2 kinds of people thing is a joke...

jack i dont care what you do, u obviously arent that busy if you spend a lot of time on joystiq.com.
but since youre asking me....
i own my own service company in southern california. I hold a valid california state contractors license with specialty classifications. check me out if you have a disaster, chances are you will run across our company sometime in your life.

Why can't I compare myself to them? Do you think that someone is only good at a craft if they are getting paid for it? And why can't someone enjoy doing something without getting paid?

"i like playing games that are made by game developers, i dont want to make a game after i come home from work."

I really don't know how else to put this...Don't create levels if you don't enjoy creating levels. If you enjoy playing LBP, play LBP. Other people that enjoy creating levels will create levels for you to enjoy. If you think that the game developers are the only ones that can create fun levels for LBP, you are extremely incorrect.

I don't get why people find the level creation boring. Yes, it's time consuming, but there's a lot of fun to be had while that time is being consumed. I hardly got any actual work done but over the course of a couple hours a friend and I continuously tried to construct a rocketship out of the most basic of materials - we didn't have access to any bolts, strings, wires, or switches (we had to steal the engine off the goofy rocket car). In the end, we hardly had anything usable and it certainly wasn't a level worth playing, but it was a fun couple of hours and I'm looking forward to what we will be able to build once we unlock more parts.

Wow I have to say BAD move...Give LBP time to grow before you send an onslaught of merchandising, and cartoons that NO ONE will watch because it will be a kiddy show...sigh....

We all just saw what Criterion is doing for their game continuing to support and add to their title.....I hope Media Molecule takes heed to this warning...U R NOT BUNGIE, or what ever the hell development team makes MARIO...Don't get to big for your britches your game is GREAT, a Classic....Support and add to it GROW your fanbase....Thats how u become a heavy hitter....Not by rapping your IP the first chance you get....Good Lord

But sadly this is the business world. And the developers know that they can release a yearly sequel, and people would still buy it.

IF they are working on a sequel, it hope it takes LBP in an all new direction.

I would like a third person perspective:
- it would open a new world (planet) of possibilities
- you would see your back instead of just the front
- multiplayer would not be limited by the screen view
- multiplayer at home would be split screen (yuck)
The game board could be on a planet - you could just see the curvature of the world - keep going in one direction long enough, you return to the same spot.
You could make your own shooter or 1st person adventure...

Sorry, I better put my creativity back into my LBP '1' level.

I don't know, I've never played it. But I guess it makes sense: LBP is just like Super Mario Brothers. As Ecclesiastes says, "There is nothing new under the sun."

The obvious flaw to fix is control mechanics, if it weren't for that i would say the game wouldn't need a sequel, since its all about community anyway, you could just keep updating it through the end of the PS3's lifespan, or beyond.

Translation: Oh hey yeah we're going to develop a new sequel that has all the nifty features we were going to put into the original LBP but couldn't due to having to meet deadlines.

You just described every single game ever. Designers always want to add more stuff to their game but there has to be a cutoff at some point or else it will never get released.

This tidbit comes from a footnote line in a very long article, with no supporting quotation from the developer. What do you want to bet they were talking about DLC and were misquoted?

Sequel to a game that's a complete fraud?

Well then again the industry as a whole and the media sites like Joystiq did suck up to sony on this one and hype it up to a level beyond reasonable.

I can't blame sony for trying to cash in.

Complete fraud? What? Have you played it yet? It'd be fine to not like it (As foreign as the concept is to most of us), but a fraud? What does it pretend to be other than an ingenious platformer?

sigh and this is the kind of the crap that annoys me with games today. That as soon as a developer puts out a game, they are already thinking about a sequel. I mean, this is the type of game that a developer could support using DLC for a couple of years, and when they have new ideas that are big enough for a stand alone title, then they can release a sequel for $60. It would be pretty dumb if they released a sequel that only had little additions(such as new levels or items, stuff that could be used as DLC instead).

It's going to take them ~2 years to make a sequel...when would you expect them to start? I don't understand why everybody is so surprised that a hit game is going to get a sequel.

This game is amazing. 'nuff said
when i popped it in with that opening cinematic, the intro- its just so charming and different. This truly deserves a 10, at least 9.5. the controls can get annoying sometimes, but its because of the physics of the jumping.

Considering a sequel? wow, they must have really thought up of some last-minute ideas. But hopefully, they're ideas that will refine the game, not so much add more stuff; (if a sequel is really all that necessary~)

I find that a creation in this game to be a bit boring because I would rather be playing a game that lets you build a virtual house that keeps zombies out.

Yes it is too cutesie for me because there are no guns and blood...and zombies...And this game is controlled by Muslims...Can not have that.
