Wow, the compatibility matrix is getting out of hand:

31 Instruments
7 Games
3 Systems
14 footnotes - Really, 14! I'm pretty sure some of my earlier college papers didn't have 14 freaking footnotes.

Serious props to whichever of you (or group of you) put that thing together.

Am I the only one having difficulty making the comparison based on these videos? I like my comparisons to be 1v1 instead of 3v3.

Plus it doesn't look like Everlong is in exactly the same place in the song, especially if you watch the guitar parts.

Anyone read IGN's super nit-picky review of GH:WT?

What kind of idiot review site sticks a real guitar player on review duty for these games. Pricks.
Still the 1up guys are loving it, not cancelling my pre-order yet.

So, we've heard how GHWT handles the RB drums by coalescing a couple lanes, but I haven't seen how RB2 handles the GH drums? Is it a simple RYBG translation, or is the mapping changed in some way?

It's a straight translation. You never use the top right cymbal in RB2. The top left cymbal becomes the second pad.

On the compatibility matrix: I guess you can already fill the Rock Band 1 Stratocaster on Guitar Hero World Tour Wii box. And also the Guitar Hero World Tour Generi-caster on Rock Band 1 Wii box.

rock band shows u how guitar hero tries to make up notes that dont need to be there just to make it a little harder. ROCK BAND all the way.

The two versions of "Go Your Own Way" didn't seem that different to me. You need to take into consideration that the two clips are extremely out of synch. The Guitar Hero clip is lagging the Rock band by a few seconds.

I don't think the GH:WT video for "Go Your Own Way" is correct; it's not only way different, but it keeps going when the song is done...

Just also wanted to note that the cleaner layout and rectangular notes of RB are WAY more readable than the GH round notes.

In RB you can read ahead with enough clairity to prepare for whats coming in GH beacuse the notes are round in can be much harder to tell if the notes are to be struck at the same time or if they are actually offset but played closely together until the notes get much closer to the front of the screen.

In songs with a fast tempo this can make it a requirement to memorize the songs instead of being able to sight read your way through them.

My vote is for RB all the way.

I'm going to rent GH:WT when my campus gets a hold of a copy. But really, Guitar Hero died with GH3 for me. Most of the songs just didn't seem to have as much of a fun level as GH1/2 and Rock Band, and while RB2 didn't really add to much, the series has enough of a fun factor that it really doesn't matter.

RB drums is intensive on yellow note, now in GH drums yellow is that cymbal... so you will need to hit it a lot when playing RB, is it ok or has a really bad feeling?

And for those of you that actually like your eyesight, here's my alternate set of chart comparisons that enable you to actually see the notes without getting a migraine.

Wow after watching and reading all these comments as far the drums are concerned I'm waiting till all probs are ironed out. Honestly I gave GHWT a good fighting chance and I have to say despite awesome custom character creation, beautiful, very elaborate stages, more "Rock" feeling visually, and quite possibly the most coolest music creator since MTV Music gen. I Like RB soo much more. Simply because track listing out of box is bigger DLC is better, and the most important part playing the parts for RB is (in most cases) way more fun. I think though if GH gave the option to get songs from old GH games like the RB song port I would love both games equally

Here's a question:

Suppose I buy GHWT for PS3. I get a PS3 model that has backwards comparability. Can I then slap in a copy of PS2 Rock Band (I or II) and use the WT PS3 controllers?

Ok, I've heard all the arugments, but obviously one person should only buy one set and both games. So what set do I get? It seems the guitar is excellent for GH, but the RB2 drums sound like a more stable set. I want everyone's opinion based on how they both play, with the least amount of issues I'd have.

A friend suggested I buy the GH guitar+game bundle, then buy the RB2 drums w/cymbals+game seperate and mic seperate(either GH or RB2). Or just pick one set? I want to buy this soon in the next week. All the comments are appreciated. Remember, if you had to do it all over again, would you buy it differently? Seperate? Or which set would you buy now??? Thanks, guys

In my opinion after playing RB and GH:WT (Haven't gotten the chance for RB2), GH:WT beats RB hands down. Especially when it comes to the drums. Sure, the sensitivty is a little off, but Activision and RedOctane are man enoough to send you the required USB-to-MIDI cable (in 1 business day) and let you download the software at ABSOLUTELY no charge. I also love how Activison was able to make the drums quiet and sturdy (the pedal looks like crap but I've play Trapped Under Ice on expert (repeated pedal pressing) like a rocker and it still stands unharmed).

When it comes to the guitars, GH wins again, hands down. Every RB guitar I've used has always felt WAY to flimsy, although I like how they look more realistic. My GH:WT guitar (there is no way I am gonna be one of those idiots who compare GH3 to RB) works amazing and feels realistic (even if it doesn't look it)

As for the vocals, not much to say there, they are about the same (except I like how on GH:WT you can activate star power at any time instead of just singing in certain areas)

The song list is RB and RB2 easily. Guitar Hero has too many pop and hip-hop rock songs, as well as too many song that they have to block out language for. Although I do like how Guitar Hero is going Metallica, but I also like how Rock Band went AC/DC.

Graphics is again, RB/RB2. The characters look more realistic allowing for a more realistic look to the game.

(I know this is a stupid way to rate a game, but) Camera views is definitely GH:WT. When I play or watch vids for RB and RB2, it gives me a headache from how they use the camera. Too me, it seems more like on RB and RB2, it was a fan taking a video on his own camera, whereas GH is like the videos they use for live album DVD's (Metallica's S&M, etc.)

So overall, here is how I sum it up:
Drums: Guitar Hero
Guitars: Guitar Hero
Vocals: Tie or slight Guitar Hero lead
Instrument Quality: Tie
Realistic feel: Guitar Hero
Realistic look: Rock Band/2 for guitars and Guitar Hero for Drums
Graphics: Rock Band/2
Songs: Rock Band/2
Gameplay: Guitar Hero
Overall: They are very close, but I still prefer Guitar Hero.

Final comment: If you want to look like a rocker, go RB/2. If you want to play like one, go GH:WT
