This Wednesday: Prove you're smarter than a 5th grader on XBLA
Given the volume of f-bombs and uninformed hate speech overheard during, oh, every game played over Xbox Live ever, we have to question if some of the service's subscribers aren't actually 5th graders. Anyway.
You can prove yourself better – and smarter – than them on Wednesday, when THQ and Blitz Arcade launch Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader: Make the Grade on XBLA. The quiz game will be priced at 1200
($15). Failing to prove you're smarter than a 5th grader will cost you your pride.
This week's Arcade update also includes a new multiplayer map for Marble Blast Ultra (including its own Achievement) for the low, low price of nothing. (It's free!)

I'm proving I'm smarter than a 5th grader by simply not paying $15 for this.

Zing!

$15 shovelware on XBLA. YEE-HAW!
Seriously, $15 should be reserved for Braid-grade titles, not... tripe like this.
Mr Khan @ Oct 27th 2008 3:34PM
As soon as i saw the headline, one of my thoughts was "how long until someone makes a joke about the average intellect of XBL users" only to find Randy beat us all to the punch
RudyHuxtable @ Oct 27th 2008 3:36PM
Talisman is canceled but someone greenlit this?
Strike Man @ Oct 27th 2008 3:41PM
Laugh all you want, but casual games sell pretty well, and are often developed with fairly low budgets (ie skip right to #3, profit!).
Just look at Ubi's recently released financials for the reasoning behind releases like this.
RudyHuxtable @ Oct 27th 2008 5:21PM
Oh this isn't a stab at casual games. I love casual games. I've even been known to play a little "Peggle" from time to time. It's THIS title I'm stunned at, not so much that it was released, but that it is listed at $15, while an intellectual property with, in my opinion, far better value and longevity, gets shelved.

Its the Wii effect, Nintendo has ruined gaming, the end is Neigh!
I'm just fooling...I know how to spell nigh.

Perhaps its part of your onomatopoeia deficiency ;)

BIFF! POW! ZAM! ZOP!

You might be a redneck if you download this game.
john.hazukisan @ Oct 27th 2008 3:57PM
You are definitely an idiot if you buy this game.
Esat Dedezade @ Oct 27th 2008 4:01PM
Why? It's a perfectly cromulent game.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Oct 27th 2008 4:09PM
I'd rather play Buzz.
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Oct 27th 2008 4:09PM
GOTY! Seriously!
I cannot wait to chuckle at Foxworthy's topical quips!

I wonder if I'm allowed around virtual children?
Hala Madrid!! @ Oct 27th 2008 4:33PM
Who's that guy?
carterman @ Oct 27th 2008 4:37PM
This is exactly why Braid being $15 was a bad idea, folks - it's starting to get into the suits' heads that they could charge $15 for an otherwise $10 XBLA game and get away with it. That's why I refused to buy Braid, and I'm really hoping that this is an aberration and not a trend.
For the record, I haven't bought the Penny Arcade games or Castle Crashers either, but I'm waiting on a patch for Castle Crashers before I buy it. I'm willing to pay for high quality and replayability, not for a game that even the developer feels should be $10.
imaginarythomas @ Oct 27th 2008 4:52PM
Wouldn't spending money on this answer that question for you?
(Answer: No, you are not)

I'm fine with games like Braid and Castle Crashers charging 15 dollars, but something like this?
No way.
theturtle363 @ Oct 27th 2008 6:24PM
anyone got a clue if this will be one of the prize winning games for NXE? Seems like a perfect fit
mietha CAG @ Oct 27th 2008 6:34PM
You have got to be fucking kidding me. $15 for this shit? There has been one, that's right, ONE, XBLA game worth $15. That is puzzle quest. Everything else $15 and up is overpriced. This should have been $5, at most. What a fucking joke. Where's M$'s QA on this one? What's next? A port of the DS version of Deal or No Deal for $25? (If you've never read a review, go do so. Pretty much the worst non-game ever.)
Ian @ Oct 27th 2008 7:47PM
If you have GameTap, this game is already on there. THQ is delusional if they think this game is worth $15.
LiesandPies @ Oct 27th 2008 8:09PM
Anybody care about the FREE Marble Ultra Blast DLC?
Premature ejaculation man @ Oct 27th 2008 8:32PM
How the fuck is this the same price as Portal:Still alive, Fable 1, San Andreas, Braid and Castle Crashers?
But it doesn't matter to me, I won't buy it
FSK405K @ Oct 27th 2008 8:37PM
They lost the chance to say "5th grade game, $5."
Lekko @ Oct 28th 2008 3:57AM
What happens when a 5th grader buys this?
