I live in San Antonio. a couple weeks ago I saw Tim Duncan of the SA Spurs in a GameStop and he was just picking games off the shelf (new of course), taking a look at the back, then adding them to a stack he was carrying in his HUGE hand. When he got to the front with about 10 or 11 games, X-Box 360 and PS3, he asks the kid at the desk if there any good games that just came out. The kid starts naming off games, and like every other one, he says yeah gimme that. He even had Too Human in the stack and said "I think I already got this one, but I don't remember".

I would wager that he has some unopened games. Funny thing is, even though every one was looking at him over their shoulder, no one really cared enough to ask for an autograph.

Of course it's about time. Sometimes I buy games because I know I want to get my hands on them. Konami is a great example. They often take games off print in the current gen, say a year or so after they're out (anyone ever try to buy Silent Hill 2 when 4 came out?). Then you can only find them used, and you never know whether the game will work all the way through, etc. So sure, sometimes I buy a game when it's available, even if I don't have time to play it right then. At least I know it will be there when I do have the time.

Maybe I just have a weird habit, but I always open my games, even if I have no intention of playing it that day. I'll sit in my car and open the package just so I can see the disc inside, then go home and slide it into my collection. To be honest it's not my fault this month: Little Big Planet, Dead Space, Fable 2 and now Fallout 3...give me a break! :)

I have lots and lots of games I've purchased but not yet played. Most of them are from the last Gamestop buy 2 get 1 free sale. But I think I only have one game still in the shrinkwrap, and that's Fight Night Round 3 for PS3. I got it for free from the Joystiq post-E3 party and haven't gotten around to it yet with all the other great games that have been out this year.

I sometimes buy games I see on sale even when I know I won't have the time to play them soon. That way you save money and always have new games to play when you get the time.

I still haven't opened the following:
Viewtiful Joe 2 (GC)
Paper Mario (GC)
Fire Emblem (GC)
Fire Emblem (Wii)
Phoenix Wright T&T (DS)
My word coach, My english coach, My french coach (DS)

So many games, too little time...

Played Halo 3 too much and still do... have not played PS3 due to 720p vs 1080p on xBox and bigger controller. PS3 seems to be for a childs hand -- too light in weight/heft and too small. Then I have to reiterate a previous comment PS3 games just did not come out to be in sync w/ xBox.

You know, I have no unopened games. But, like many have said, I have PLENTY of unfinnished games. (Prey, Gun, GRAW, Vegas, Condemned 2, Silent Hill: Homecomming, just to name a few.)

Due to this post, I've decided to make a list from oldest to newest and finish them in that order, and stick to it!!

There are only a few games I HAVE finished, like Assassins Creed (meh), Bioshock (AMAZING), GoW (Pretty Decent), Mass Effect (Great, want to play through again).
Wow, I didn't pretty good last fall!!

If I had an unopened game, I'd just sell it. I only buy used games these days. Now that I'm older I value my money and I would never pay $60 just to unwrap a game a year later when I could pick it up at the store for half of that.

But in the old wild and crazy days, I'd buy four new games in one go and it would take me six months to finish the better ones, though I would crack them all open and try the game out just to make sure it works. What a shame it would be to have a game for two years just for it to be a bad copy!

I do, I have 5 unopened games. In my defence I've held off purchasing new games so I can get through the ones I have. Rock Band just takes up too much time!!

I have several unopened games, mainly because I haven't had the time to sit down to play and also due to a change in my gaming habits. I'm one of those guys who used to play video games way too much (part of reason why I dropped out of college first time). Well, I'm back in school now and working with a new set of priorities than what I had when I was younger, so that leaves very little time to play games as much with everything else life throws at you.

Anyways, some of the games I have unopened are Halo 3 Legendary Edition, Spliter Cell Double Agent, Burnout Paradise, some of those BK games and a few misc PC games.

I don't but that's because I'm usually playing something different everyday; except when something really snares me like Saints Row 2 has right now.

My wife on the other hand will get a few games at once (like for her birthday) and get wrapped up in a couple of them for a while. She just opened Brain Age 2 which she got last xmas I think.

I've still got MGS4 in cellophane from the MGS PS3 I bought. You see, I've never played any of the MGS games so I'm slowly working my way through them, I just got to playing Raiden in number 2. It'll be a while before I get around to 4.

I have one unopened game: South park on N64. My mother bought it for me as a gift, not knowing that a friend had lent it to me for a week, giving me ample time to discover how bad this game is... Now it's sitting on my shelf, next to the boxes of Conker's bad fur day and Zelda OOT, though those are very much opened indeed.

Had oblivion sitting around for over 2 years, never gotten around to installing it.

Same goes for Fallout1 and Fallout2.

BIG GAMES are sometimes hard to contemplate starting.. cos I know its gonna be hard to find the time to play them. SO i'm much more likely to start a quicker game (World of Goo, Portal, any-FPS, etc..) than start on something more intimidating.

---

Besides, there have been at least 6 90%+ games released this month alone... everyone wants to try them... but very few people have the time to finish ONE 80hr game, let alone 5 or 6...

Are you people serious?
Haven't you ever bought a game and there was no disk!
You need to open that crap before you run out of time to return it!

I'm glad only 11% of gamers are crazy like that. I remember some people used to buy all the #1 comics they could find and everyone else never got to read them. Many comics died thanks to all these idiots since most people stopped bothering after a couple numbers after they missed the introduction, and back them was impossible to find them again, since most were sealed in a box to show up again ten years later...

now games, I don't see how people find them to be worth anything more that what they are already. Actually I find it sad nerds are bringing their stupid ways here. Thanks.

Next up, dressing up in conventions... wait a minute...
