Fable 2 slays Far Cry 2 in UK sales charts

More appropriately, we should probably say, "Fable 2 slayed Far Cry 2, then farted on it, did a heroic pose for the crowd, brought it a shoddy necklace, bought it a house to live in and invited it to unprotected group sex with three random villagers." Peter Molyneux's farcical epic debuted at the top of Chart-Track's UK sales chart, followed by Ubisoft's African-based shooter at number two. Can somebody get Pete a tissue?

Other fun facts about Fable 2's launch:

It was Microsoft's first All Formats #1 since Halo 3.
It outsold the first Fable's launch by a margin of 3.8 to 1
It was the 5th fastest selling Xbox 360 game in the UK, behind Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, FIFA 09 and Call of Duty 4.

European's virtual football sensation FIFA09 dropped down to number three, followed by Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Saints Row 2. Full top ten list after the break.

wii fit i can understand... but pro evo 2009 ? anyone who try fifa 09 for 5 minutes, will never play pro evo 9.

Both football games are trash this year, just like last year.

Now Wii Pro Evolution, that's a completely different story. I'm sure, come this spring, you'll see the best version of the lot.

Also, Pro Evp (in my opinion) sucks, this years Fifa looks and plays amazingly (Coming from someone whose previous game was Fifa 07 before the latest 09).

I'm sorry, but Football(or Soccer for the US-tards) has a huge cult following in EU and probably bigger than Rugby or whatever you call it will ever have in US.No wonder it sells, especially since PES series is quite good.

Also PES > Madden.

Both Fable and Far cry are really good games I have both so I am double happy. Pro evo is a really good Futbol game....I dont understand why you guys dont like it. But to each his own. Fuck Wii Fit!

Is... is that even biologically possible? I mean, I guess it is a tangeable object, so that's a start, but then again it's not even a sentient being or even a living organism.

It would be a tricky undertaking to attempt at the least and personally, would not appeal to me whatsoever.

Bizzarely I saw on game.co.uk that Far Cry 2's PC version was the second best seller that week, with Fable 2 (360 obviously) leading the charge.

This game is the best 360 game experience i have had since buying the system. I know it isn't perfect (what game is) but I have had a metric buttload of fun with it so far.

I still hear the music in my sleep, work still goes by so slow because I can't wait to get home and continue playing AND it is a game I can play with my girlfriend! I will have Fallout 3 sitting on my shelf in the packaging for a while after I pick it up today. Gears 2 may even be on the back burner for a while once it is in my hands next week.

I seriously hope that there is DLC for Fable 2 in the not too distant future. Gawd I love/hate this time of year!

Yea Fable 2 is like crack. Also those damn gargoyles and their taunts, I can't shoot the one in the coach house before you walk onto Bowerstone Bridge because the carriage is blocking the garage anyone know how you can kill that one?

Im sorry to say this but contrary to my avatar Far Cry 2 was a total letdown.
The driving and fixing the car was bearable
But the AI was a total farce. After all the hype about the sharp AI and all they came out and ruined it.
No wonder Fable 2 took it down.

Fable 2 is such a horrible game, you'd think on a next gen system they can make the game longer than 15 hours, without having to do stupid side quests. Far Cry 2 is a very enjoyable game, fable needs to go back to the drawing board!!

Stupid sidequests? Those are some of the most enjoyable sidequests I've ever played (barring KOTOR). You are a hero of the people in that game, of course you are going to have to do things for them. You don't become a hero by avenging the death of your family. That's personal
