Microsoft will email your missing Fable 2 DLC codes
As we reported the day of its launch, some many copies of the Fable 2 Limited Collector's Edition were shipped without their precious DLC voucher card, which, among other goodies, let players unlock "Hal's Armor." Microsoft initially told purchasers who found themselves sans-card to call the company's 800 support line; it now has a support page from which anyone with a valid Windows Live ID can request the codes via email.
In order to obtain the codes, you must visit this Fable 2 support link and be logged in with your Live ID. Only one set of codes will be issued per valid email address and MS says to expect their arrival within five days of submitting a request. This all means, of course, that anyone can now obtain the "exclusive" DLC ... and yet another piece of the LE's uniqueness gets stripped away, this time post-launch.

infernus @ Oct 28th 2008 7:38PM
So all we got for our extra $10 was an extra DVD and special-looking box art? orz
Markez @ Oct 29th 2008 1:24AM
If it makes you feel any better, I will kick your chicken, FOR FREE!
sephriothazule @ Oct 28th 2008 7:40PM
I kinda want my $10 back now....
Darkendes @ Oct 28th 2008 7:43PM
Dammit. I feel dirty now, like an abused whore.
I'd like my $10 back, MGS. I'll even send you back the box and the "special" DVD if you'd like. Just give me my money. =\
CLOUD9 @ Oct 28th 2008 7:44PM
They should make you input your sku to see if you did buy the LE.
Micheal82 @ Oct 28th 2008 9:00PM
That wouldn't work because all you have to do is go to Gamestop or any other place that sells games and copy the SKU off of the back of the box. they really will not have a way to prove that you have the LE edition unless they make you mail them a copy of your recipt.
syrik zero @ Oct 28th 2008 7:44PM
This is awesome for me =D
Snowblind @ Oct 28th 2008 7:44PM
Wow. I love the game, and I was even defending the past LE cuts, but this is ridiculous. We basically paid an extra $10 for a different case?
I *really* hope Lionhead are doing something to compensate those of us who went out of the way to get the LE and got screwed over at every turn.
NBA Kirkland @ Oct 28th 2008 8:02PM
They are! You can get all the expired Pub Games Download codes you want on their developer's blog!
Rizlaz @ Nov 7th 2008 11:30PM
yea which you need to pay with micro points to get the pub game... GG
benjor0x0r @ Oct 28th 2008 7:47PM
Wow wtf. The game is great, but this is a joke. So basically LE people paid an extra $10 for a disc with a "making of" documentary on it...
offday @ Oct 28th 2008 8:14PM
Isn't that what Halo 2 limited edition was?
Blinkus @ Oct 28th 2008 8:58PM
No, it's not. The Halo 2 LE had a special metallic box, just like the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory LE.
dsub @ Oct 28th 2008 9:10PM
Isn't that what 9.9/10 "Special Edition" games are?
The_Punisher @ Oct 28th 2008 7:52PM
Wow, Fable II has had an embarassing launch.
BOO!
Lekko @ Oct 29th 2008 2:55AM
At least it came out on time as opposed to some little big catastrophailures.
offday @ Oct 28th 2008 7:56PM
This is exactly why I don't buy "limited edition" games anymore. Just give me my game, plain and simple.
FChavez @ Oct 28th 2008 7:56PM
This is what I got....
Registration Success!
Thank you for your registration.
Once we validate your submission, we will deliver your Fable II codes through email within 10 business days
On the main page it says you'll have the code in 5 business days...once you register it's 10 days, I think we all know MS language and can tell what this really means =)
Kyle N. @ Oct 28th 2008 7:59PM
I paid the extra $10 for the in-game content. Now that it's available to everybody, for free, I want my money back. This is f'ing ridiculous.
syrik zero @ Oct 28th 2008 8:03PM
At least your avatar looks happy =)
Justin @ Oct 28th 2008 7:59PM
There is an error in this story. The codes will be sent within 10 days, not within 5. So if you bought the CE, you paid an extra $10 for a different cover and a "bonus" disc. And by the time you finally get the Halo gear you will have waited an extra 17 days for it. I don't know who to blame more, Microsoft or Lionhead, but the whole thing leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Ranelar @ Oct 28th 2008 8:00PM
Hah. Halo gear, here I come.
Capgun @ Oct 28th 2008 8:02PM
Woot, Registered. I don't even have the game yet.
I feel sorry for you LE guys though
Christopher @ Oct 28th 2008 8:12PM
hahahahaha!
This is why I don't buy le's anymore!
Suckers
Randy @ Oct 28th 2008 8:38PM
Man, my ass almost hurts from this deal. Fable 2 is/was an awesome game, but man, I feel screwed for paying extra when ALL I wanted (besides the game) was the Hobbe figure. I could give a crap about the art book.. you look at it once, and then it just sits in a drawer.
PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Oct 28th 2008 8:45PM
Just couldn't get into the game. I returned it for Fallout 3 after playing my brothers copy of Fable 2. Just didn't like the art style and the multiplayer was horrid.
Great concept another failed execution. At least I have 5 actual great exclusive RPGs on the 360 to get into after the new year.
Infinite Undiscovery
Last Remnant
Tales Of Vesperia
Eternal Sonata
Lost Odyssey
Markez @ Oct 29th 2008 1:23AM
How much time did you put into before giving up? Just curious, I found it slow to get into initially as well.
Nixorbo @ Oct 29th 2008 11:37AM
"exclusive RPGs on the 360 ...
Eternal Sonata"
Um.
PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Oct 29th 2008 1:49PM
Thats right Eternal Sonata just dropped for the PS3 ... 360 version is $39.99 now instead of the full $59.99 retail cost
@Markez
Probably not enough time. I played it at his house (in his single player and MP with him) for probably 3-4 hours. Didn't start from the beginning.
Test-Rat @ Oct 28th 2008 8:45PM
I think you guys forget they can tell what copy you have via Xbox live.
NBA Kirkland @ Oct 28th 2008 8:57PM
Don't be silly
Pitrsin @ Oct 28th 2008 8:59PM
Actually, they can't. The discs for both the regular and limited edition are the exact same. Nothing in the code specifies what version they are.
Waffle Slayer @ Oct 28th 2008 11:07PM
Nice try.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 28th 2008 9:13PM
This is quite sad. Not that it would have mattered, the Fallout 3 CE absolutely destroyed the originally planned Fable 2 package.
Seriously though, Microsoft really needs to hand out $10 refunds to those who bought a CE and CE folks need to learn a lesson, if all you get is digital crap and a making-of DVD, don't go CE. Buy it if you get a lunch box and a bobble head.
knighty (GT: ZeraKnight) @ Oct 28th 2008 9:17PM
The best thing about SE/LE's is the tin case. Having one without one is just lame, so I skimped out on getting the Fable 2 one. Glad I did now. The sleeves does look kinda cool though....
So anyway yeah, people saying SE/LE's are pointless; THE TIN CASES MAN.

Misframed @ Oct 28th 2008 9:18PM
I like how the "bonus" DVD has a video about the Hobbe figure we didn't even get... and it tells you at the end to take a pic of your Hobbe and upload it to the Fable website... all I can say is "Nice"...
Kud Dukan @ Oct 28th 2008 9:18PM
Cool, at least I can get it now. I really don't care if everyone can get it because I payed the extra money for the DVD. (I love that kind of stuff)
Waffle Slayer @ Oct 28th 2008 11:02PM
I don't know why you're dissing MS. They just saved me $10.
A Firetruck @ Oct 28th 2008 11:16PM
heh i got my LE for the same price as regular
Lekko @ Oct 29th 2008 2:58AM
Hal's armor looks hysterical later on if you get all fat.
Pwnzerfaust @ Oct 29th 2008 4:13AM
I feel like a dick for taking advantage of this.
Sorry, limited edition purchasers. :(
Nixorbo @ Oct 29th 2008 11:37AM
I don't
gcountach @ Oct 29th 2008 4:45AM
I want to see the look on the guys at Microsoft's faces when the number of request is astronomically higher than the predicted fraction they were expecting.
Pudge @ Oct 29th 2008 9:08AM
I was really going to get the Limited Edition of Fable 2, but I held out when I saw the disastrous launch, because I knew this would happen.
Thanks Microsoft! I'll go buy a 800 point game off XBLA to show my gratitude.
CynicalStrike @ Oct 29th 2008 9:11AM
Anybody else notice that the LE content wasn't really DLC, just an unlock code; a suit of armour, 2 weapons and a dungeon do not fit into a 100KB download. What a rip-off. Still, my Fallout 3 LE should be here tomorrow; that should ease my pain a little (unless there's a sudden bout of "supply chain issues").
R @ Oct 29th 2008 1:04PM
Yeah...wow. I didnt really care that the other stuff got cut out, quite frankly I was happy as i didnt really want it, and a cheaper game was fine by me.
But really...I paid $10 for a DVD Ill never watch, and a box art Ill never look at as I keep my games in a CD binder.
......
Screw it, Imma go watch the DVD just to feel like I got SOMETHING out of the LE.
