Here at Joystiq HQ, we've already accepted that we're headed towards a disc-less future. We know that, one day, our shelves will be completely free of game Amarays, leaving plenty of room for our plastic faux guitars, tubas and glockenspiels.
After embracing that forward-thinking approach with Siren Blood Curse, SCEE has been asking fans if they'd like to see another game in the series and, if so, how'd they'd like to see it delivered. Between you and us, Sony, if you really want to stay ahead of the curve? Telepathy. Just think about it.
... Get it? Think about it?

The only reason I didn't buy Siren was because it wasn't on disc ... so, I guess I better tell them that.

There was a game called Siren? I guess if it wasn't distributed to stores that would be why I didnt pay any attention to it.

First they take away cloth maps and collectors coins / gadgets.
Next they take away real large manuals that cover everything in the game and can be read without magnifying glasses.
Then they take away boxes with personality, and force us to use generic DVD cases.
Finally they are going to take away any tangibleness to the game you are purchasing at all.
And all the while games get MORE expensive.
Fool me once my bad, foold me twice, you can't fool me again.

I didn't buy the game initially because of the size. Recently I upgraded my PS3 HDD to 250 GB so I picked it up. It's actually a very cool concept with the episodic content and viral marketing campaign. For example, there is a kid in the early chapters you play as and he has a blgo address on his student ID - The site is a real blog from the character. There are lots of things like that to make the game seem more real.
Great experience but a little overpriced IMO. I don't mind digital distribution but they need to offer bigger HDDs in futute SKUs to combat all the mandatory installs. I wish I could download and install the episodes together instead of one by one. That was extremely annoying. I guess a blu-ray release would be better for most people but I am good with the DDistribution.

And yes I do want more Siren. The actual story and gameplay was top notch. The game will scare you in more ways than one. Scary as Hell.

It amazes me that no matter what price point you pick, someone says "overpriced". Funny how you've learned to accept that $15 movie ticket, $10 meal at McDonalds, $3 gallon of gas, $60 packaged game, and so on.
Siren was $40. Perfectly reasonable cost for an excellent game.

Siren was great at this price point, but I'd like to see them expand this model to smaller devs like NIS, who really don't need a full Blu-ray for their games.

If things go the way the polls indicate, good luck to us all after next Tuesday. Even Joe Biden says we'll need it.

Right. Just keep telling yourself that, while all financial experts, experienced government officials, policy experts both foreign and domestic, and every other indicator say otherwise. Facts don't matter to an Obamaniac.

I wasn't going to but, since you're going to take it there...
Yeah, Biden said it along with Adm. Michael Mullen, Michael Bayer, Michael Chertoff, and the Homeland Security Advisory Council in reference to actual data and historical analysis of enemies taking advantage of a transition of our Government (no matter who it's going to be.)
The worst foreign attack on US mainland soil happened relatively early on under Bush's new Administration. You know what the difference is? Obama is planning for it while Bush ignored the evidence and McCain is offering nothing, but strong words and mocking Obama for pursuing transition planning as a cheap campaign tactic. http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-transition20-2008oct20,0,6265181.story
Think of it this way, would you feel safer under a guy who is prepared for a crisis, or a guy who's mocking the guy preparing for the crisis. It's really a shame that you can't be more objective in your analysis. You seem like a smart guy and you need to get real.

I loved it and thought it was completely worth the $40. 9GB was a little much, but I upgraded my hard drive awhile back to 200GB, so space wasn't really an issue.

Physical disc is the only acceptable medium.
DLC is not ownership.

It is if the product meets two criteria:
- It doesn't "call home" to make sure it's okay to run
- You can freely copy it to other media for backups

By the way, what is up with that image on this post? I'm not against violent games at all, but something about that image just seems a little over-the-top to me.

You're looking at a finishing move being done with a kitchen knife. A lot of the game's finishing moves are similar to the ones seen in Manhunt 2, the difference being that there is no image distortion, and you're killing Shibito(zombies). Some of them are even more graphic than this. That being said, this is a Mature rated game that also has the use of strong language and other adult themes so it's obviously not for kids.

Siren was okay, but the delivery was ridiculous. I get that the game is "episodic" and all, but you should be able to download each episode in a bundle if you buy packs or (as I did) the whole thing. Grabbing twelve 700mb-1.3gb packages, and then having to install each one individually, which ultimately ends up in a single icon in the Games menu anyway? What a pain in the butt.

I know that this has been covered, but that picture is over the top. I look at this site several times a day and I have never seen anything like this. I am not against violent games, but this IS not the game. It is a site about games and anybody of any age can get on it. This is what gives gaming a bad name. Please pay attention to the violence posted. This one is unacceptable.

As an avid renter of video games, I think they need to take that into consideration when offering digital download. I've played and enjoyed over 100 games this generation and I'm not about to drop $60, or $40 for that matter, on a game that I can finish in 5 days.
You give me a downloadable gamefly type scenario, where I can play one or two games at a time then I'm all for it! In fact it may be even better because unlimited copies would insure that you got the top game in your queue every time.

They should make it episodic next time.
Instead of like one big clump of a game plopped all at once onto the store. Take advantage of the delivery method instead of just breaking up normal games to fit an episodic mold. Actually build each episode around the fact that people have to wait a week or two for the next piece.
Steal as much as you can from Television. They've been doing episodic entertainment for a long time don't ya know...

I'm well aware of that.
There's no point in releasing the game in chunks if all of the chunks are available at the same time. It doesn't really benefit anyone. They should either release the game over a period of time, or if they're going all at once then just as 1 package.
They're basically just charging $5 more for a bigger demo ($5 was the difference in buying the 3 chunks seperately or buying them all at once in the bundle).

Personally, I would prefer buying the disc version of the game as appose to downloading it. A 9gb download doesn't sit well with my ps3.
The game itself was decent in my opinion. A little short though. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel/prequel.

I got my Blul-ray version of the game here:

It'll get a U.S. release - eventually.
Or you could always import.

I bought the game on release and I was unaware of it getting a blu-ray release, otherwise I would have waited.
But its too late now. No sense in buying the game twice.

Why Sony Why!!! why must you torture us with useless things....instead of asking for opinions on a game that was more or less average...why not ask us on input for a sequel/prequel to THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON. im sure ten times more people will gladly answer with a YES

Next time just give an option to download the full game in one shot instead of having to download the episodes one by one. Especially considering the total number of episodes pretty much fills up (or exceeds, can't recall) the maximum number of items you can queue up.
