Splatterhouse teaser leaves everything and nothing to the imagination
19
Sometimes a teaser is released that makes the whole, "This game is not yet rated thing" seem a little silly. This is one of those pivotal moments in gaming history. GameTrailers has exclusively revealed the teaser trailer for the upcoming Splatterhouse reboot from Namco Bandai, publishers of cheery games such as Eternal Sonata and Pac-Man ... anything. While the trailer only shows about 2 seconds of what appears to be in-game footage we can safely say Splatterhouse will involve buckets of blood and brutality. Totally getting an "E 10+" rating. You heard it here first.

I'm still not feeling the character design on it. I get that he's built, but does he really need that many nasty veins...? Yuck.

Yeah the mask is completely bizarre too, not sure what they're trying to accomplish here. He's also about 4 times burlier than he needs to be.

They couldn't ruin it much worse than you're ruining the English language, for instance.
there => they're
You can't ruin a classic like that. It's not like that game had a story that they could ruin a la Star Wars.
And talk about negativity. Give them the benefit of the doubt at least.

I dunno... It's gonna be awfully hard to ruin such a simple, straightforward game. I had this on TG-16, and I'm way excited to see Rick tear it up again.

I'm hyped, but I'm a bit worried about the inevitable ruining by the ESRB.

So is this like Jason Vorhees on steroids going to save his girlfriend or something?

is it was the complete opposite (Jason going to kill his GF) I think this would be pretty awesome.

The character design is trash, but it might still be fun.

Just because games were fun 20 years ago does not mean they will be fun now. I enjoyed this game back in the day, but this looks like complete shit. I'm sure the Golden Axe Dev's can speak on that.

You guys seriously aren't judging this game on a whole five seconds of in-game rotation around a character model, are you? I'm not saying this is gonna be GOTY 2009; it'll probably be far from it. But come on, wait for more coverage before passing judgement!

I played both Splatter houses on Sega and let me tell you this revamp looks dumb as hell and should be done by Itagki (or how ever you spell his name the dude that did Ninja Gaiden). The mask to begin with looks childish. Its not the splatter house I knew and loved bring the originals to XBLA and you will want more of that. Those games were good this will sux hard. This is one of the only games I am going to say I want to see it lose its publisher and get canceled.

A great man once said that fans are clingy, complaining dipshits who will never ever be grateful of any concession designers make. The moment you shut out their shrill tremulous voices, the happier you'll be for it.
Those people are hardly ever amused and will always ask for the opposite you give them. Give them a revamp, they'll ask for the classic and vice versa.

Don't think so. Might want to skip this one.

Maybe the character starts out normal and as he progresses he gains abilities and starts to physically change or becomes different splatterhouse movie monster archetypes. Dunno, I have not paid attention to anything about this game.

Was that Drew Barrymore as the girl? The voice definitely sounds familiar.

Might be the girl from Resident Evil 4 too... okay, I'll stop now.
