It's a fantasy we've all indulged in: rummaging through forgotten history, examining ancient artifacts, dodging rickety death traps and fending off ferocious wildlife ... all whilst donning impossibly tight bathing suits that highlight our extraordinarily proportioned bodies. Also, we have an indestructible ponytail and a posh, British accent.
Though still strictly considered fantasy, the 1.3GB Tomb Raider: Underworld demo, now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, at least makes things a little more tangible. Download it, kick some ferocious creature in the face and let us know what you think. Lara makes her prim and proper return on November 18th.

I am a big tomb raider fan played every single one that came out...2 and angel of darkness are my favorites. BUt I dont like how edios is playing favorties when it comes to the DLC....what is that about?? that is soooo not good for business....why make it multplat if you favor one console over the other.....meaning the extra things that they are doing for the 360 version.

No dude, don't just buy a 360. I have both consoles but I am sick of the bribing to buy a game on one console or the other. If publishes are gonna make it multiplat make it the same on both otherwise dont even bother. I hate this crap were they try to entice us to buy fallout on 360, mirrors edge on ps3, just make it even.

Why do you guys immediately assume that Eidos decided to support MS over Sony or Nintendo? Have any of you considered that maybe MS asked Eidos to include DLC and that Sony didn't? Maybe MS is even paying for the development, which would, naturally, mean that it isn't going to Sony or Nintendo's consoles. Knee jerk reaction is always to assume that a publisher or developer is playing favorites, but there ARE other possibilities...
In the end, it's all about money, and Sony and Nintendo obviously didn't think it was worth the cost to get DLC on their consoles...blame them if you're all sore about the issue.

I prefer to play with laura on PS3 and if edios wants to play favorites then that is fine but I wont buy the game. I have both consoles by the way tomb raider feels unatural on the 360 imo. Why would would publishers even consider this is beyond me.

Why does it feel unnatural?
Tomb Raider was originally a Saturn game, but even so all of the games past TR1 were completely retconned. The only ones in the story are Anniversary(TR1), Legend and Underworld, all of which are on the 360 :)
And although I agree that exclusive DLC is stupid, it's not going to stop me from getting it. I'll just buy the game on which ever system has the exclusives.

I have nothing to get over. Yes of course, and its obviously a good move for at least one of the parties but in the real world consumers may also choose not to support practices like that, Which is why I either wouldn't buy this game, or if it was good enough, would rent it, buy it used, or borrow it. What is wrong with that?

Tomb Raider was originally a PC/PS1/Saturn game, not just Saturn. It was mostly a PC game since that was the best version and it got the expansion pack.

I dislike playing Tomb Raider because I always get caught up in this moral conundrum of whether or not it's wrong to be attracted to a bunch of pixels which were -probably- modeled by some pervy guy.
Seriously, you think deciding whether or not to kill Little Sisters is bad? Decide whether or not you'd tap Lara Croft.

I for one, enjoy the female form regardless of media. I think it's just because I'm a male. *shrugs*

Technically, it would be a bunch of vertices modeled by some pervy guy. Polygons would also be accurate. Pixels are not directly "modeled", the 3D geometry built of vertices forming polygons gets rendered out as pixels on your screen well after the modeling process is complete.
Pixels are also the base unit for the 2D textures that get mapped to the model, but again, they are drawn or procedurally generated, not directly modeled.

Nothing pervy about it. That's like saying it's perverted to find art appealing. After all, that's just paint on a canvas isn't it?

She was still modeled by a pervy guy, and after he's done modeling and she pops up on my screen she is, in fact, a bunch of pixels. She's simply a bunch of pixels that can be seamlessly viewed from any angle, hence the 3D part.

Exactly. Being attracted to pixels and geometry of a female form is no different really than being attracted to oh, I dunno a cartoon of Princess Peach in some bondage gear?...except that IMO is a bit more disturbing.

The Lara model amd animations are all new and definitely more realistic, with blur motion and not only that. She now climbs more like Altair from Assassin's Creed. She can flip around poles and stand on them as well to balance walk. She can grab poles and use them as weapons or stick them in a hole and use them to climb up. She can jump from wall to wall to get higher.
The jungle foliage is no longer flat and everything is more alive with wildlife everywhere, like birds, bugs. The animals are bigger and better. Lara can now do a karate kick. Aiming is better. It's still Tomb Raider, but there's definitely more depth to the TR than any of the previous entries.
