Now that "Oblivion with guns" is done, it's time for Bethesda to make another "Fallout with swords." The developer's publishing executive, Paul Oughton, indicated to GI.biz that the company could "potentially" have the next Elder Scrolls title ready in 2010.
Oughton also stated Bethesda currently doesn't have any plans to release its titles on Wii. He acknowledges that Nintendo has opened up a market, but the publisher plans to stick with the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. An Oblivion or Fallout 3 port for Wii is still theoretically possible, it just doesn't sound like Bethesda would be the one doing it.

And make sure it doesn't suck.
Just to make a list of all thing sucky and shield me from rabid fanboys: Inventory weight limit, Oblivion gates, repetitive quests that order you to visit caves that look the same and are inhabited by the same freking skeletons and the quest reward is ultimatey shit, bugs up the ass, useless AI, tedious and stupid leveling system, the game was so boring that I ended up stealing everything in the world that there was to steal and it was too easy and still boring.
Flamebait much?

Nice troll there but Oblivion is one of the few games where the PS3 version performs better than the Xbox 360 version.
Both versions don't hold a candle to the PC version though. Especially with some of the super duper high res texture mods than can be downloaded.

I just wish Bethesda focus on what they do best, ie: Drop 90% of that whole RPG bullshit.

@Hyams
So when you said "make sure the PS3 version is on par with the 360 version" you were referring to Fallout 3... even though this article is about a sequel to Oblivion... and even though the person you replied to was NOT talking about Fallout 3 either? right...
I don't think you were "trolling" per se, but seriously, you need to think about what you're saying (how it will be interpreted by people who aren't mind-readers) before you say it. Context plz!

@dirty, at least with Fable 2's minor characters all we had to endure were passing comments or sweet nothings I didnt listen to from wives, instead of the essay's worth we got from 4 different people in Obv.

Considering they were trying a PSP port of one of their works at one point, a Wii port wouldn't be too far out of left field.
Doubtful it would be well-implemented, though. Bethesda's very much a PC-first developer, and that group (Valve, iD, Epic, etc) seems to be particularly hostile to Wii

it wasn't really a PSP port of Oblivion. It would have been more of a dungeon crawler, much more linear and action oriented like the rest of the Elder Scrolls: Travels series.
It's funny though. Of all the games that I thought would work great on Wii, The Elder Scrolls was the one that would have been absolutely perfect for it, especially with WiiMotion Plus coming out. I'd love to see it happen somehow, even if it isn't a full fledged Elder Scrolls game in scope and more like Travels.

How about making sure not every character looks like they took a beating to the face with a botox laced ugly stick?

Judging from what Bethesda did for Oblivion back when it came out, I firmly believe that the new one is going to be the best looking game of its launch date.
That basically means that for any other graphically-oriented game who wants to be marketed wisely, avoid this launch date.

All the graphics in the world won't help when their bug testers are pants-on-head retarded. Fallout3 should have been delayed.

Interesting. Bethesda has previously stated that they enjoyed a bump and long tail by being titles that dropped near the launch of the Xbox (Morrowind) and 360 (Oblivion), and that they anticipated being around with an Elder Scrolls title for the next round of system launches as well.
They also released Oblivion on PS3 in the same sort of six to nine month window following release of the system.

Hopefully critics won't swoon and overrate the next one like they did with Oblivion.
I mean, Oblivion was by no means a bad game, but it had so many glaring flaws with it that it's insane to see an average score of 94 next to it on Metacritic.

Based on how much I played it, it was underrated.

Its an amazing concept and epic scope limited by a few flaws, much like Far Cry 2.
However, I was far more immersed and addicted to Oblivion than I am with FC2, so I think whether either of them deserve 94's (the latter doesn't) is based on how far you think game ratings are weighted towards the 100-end these days.

I would love to see a next gen version of Daggerfell, so the entire map of Tamriel all detailed with no random dungeon/area generator.
Not attractive for 90% of the gaming public but boy would it be awesome.
