EA releases Tetris for Android, Bejeweled and Monopoly to follow
Electronic Arts has answered the call for more games on Google's Android mobile device platform – i.e. the T-Mobile G1 – with a version of Tetris now available for download from the EA Mobile site. The game is selling for $7.99. It will be followed next month by Bejeweled and Monopoly: Here & Now Edition.
In an official release, EA Mobile America and Asia publishing veep Adam Sussman calls Android an "exciting new platform" and says that the division has "more games in development" beyond the three revealed today. Looking at its catalog of iPhone / iPod Touch games, it's probably safe to expect some variation of Spore and Scrabble to be in the bunch.

Where are all the industry "experts" telling us that Android is going to be a big contender for mobile gaming, like they said the iPhone would be?
Granted, I think with it's open platform and variable hardware configurations, Android might be better poised in some respects... but I still don't see it happening for either of them. If you had to have a phone service subscription just to play games on the PSP or DS, they'd both have a much smaller user-base.

I might be wrong, but I don't think any of the experts to which you refer expected the iPhone would knock the DS or PSP out of place... Probably an appropriate analogy here would be this: the iPhone/Android phones are to the DS/PSP what the Wii is to the 360/PS3. Also, who told you that you need a service plan to play games?! Perhaps you missed the bit in the story where they mentioned the games are available from EA's website? Apps/games/etc come from 3rd party vendors (or in the case of the iPhone, from Apple's iTunes storefront) NOT from the carrier; so theoretically you could buy/play/enjoy games on either phone without service... although there's little sense in owning a phone without service, it's certainly possible to game on such a device.

There is like no God, okay?!
Why must everyone follow in Apple's footsteps? Use some kind of creativity, please..

@Nter,
If you'd take the time to read about Android, which has been in development since 2005 (if you check your facts you'll find the iPhone was announced some 2 years later), you wouldn't sound nearly so much like a jackass. The OS's couldn't be more different... and before you claim that because they're both using touch-screens it's obviously a rip-off... can I point you toward Palm, Inc.? or any of the other dozens of companies who have employed the technology since it was developed in the late 60's?

Jackass

By the way, I work for Apple and think you're a jackass.
Both responses are for "Nter"

A friend of mine has this phone, I see the potential, and it is cheaper that the Iphone, but I think Ill hold off until everything gets ironed out.
Also, I wouldn't use it for games anyway.
Easo @ Oct 30th 2008 2:50PM
As an owner of the phone I can tell you that waiting is good advice. Its better than the iphone, but still needs some time in the oven before its takes on the 3g iphone (which may be a lot sooner than apple would like). I will say this though, I'll never buy another phone that doesnt run on android.

The phrase "monopoly to follow" concerning anything related to Google is kind of scary.
MowDownJoe @ Oct 29th 2008 7:46PM
I'd be more worried about seeing the words "Google" and "SkyNet" in the same sentence.

Open-source development tells me that there will be free clones available for download.

I love this phone. I highly recommend it.
...unless you need Microsoft Exchange. Sadly, it's the one thing I think this phone needs before it's absolutely killer.

I got my text from T-Mobile stating that my phone is being shipped! I'm very excited about it
