Update: Oh, and look, the announcement comes with new screens! Check them out in the gallery below.
Turns out the rumor was true! Sega will in fact be publishing The Conduit, due to release on the Wii during spring of 2009. As one of the most highly-anticipated titles for the Wii, this is obviously a smart move for Sega. That is, if the game turns out to be good and, uh, sells a lot.
So ... should we expect a Hogan's Alley-like minigame where we're tasked with shooting Big the Cat?

BIG the Cat, not Bigs. He's not a young X-Wing pilot from Tatooine

Well it's official: I can scratch this off my list without looking back.
I had such high hopes for this game, but it's virtually impossible for it to be anything past mediocre now.

Now we can expect loads and loads of sequels, until the whole thing is dead as the horse it rode in on!
(Also cameos in a Billy Hatcher game. Fallacious!)

Really? Well since Nintendo isn't publishing it, doesn't that mean that Sega could potentially set up their own servers and ditch the friend codes ala Medal of Honor: Heroes for this game? That is of course assuming that Ninty would allow WiiSpeak compatability in a game that doesn't use friend codes. Man that would be awesome. Unlikely, but awesome.

Nintendo will let 3rd parties do whatever they want, just that they shouldn't expect any help if they go it alone
SEGA does have their own network infrastructure in place. Remnants of SegaNet of yore which they still use to run old PSO servers (Japan only) but also PSU servers worldwide.

Excellent! I loved Metroid on the Wii and MoH was ok, but graphically it left a lot to be desired. The guys at High Voltage look to be putting in a lot of love into The Conduit, hope it pays off as the Wii needs this!

Does this mean we can expect blazing late 80's guitar driven rock music mixed with over enthusiastic announcers. Maybe some unnecessary flailing of the arms during cut scenes... Wait, Sega's just publishing it... nuts I got excited. But seriously Im glad to see Sega coming out with some solid hits. When I was a kid Sega was like the Pepsi of video games to me all hip and filled with attitude, I want that back.

So this is going to be like Red Steel 2, but in space, right?

Sega is looking like a very good third-party publisher/developer for Wii with The Conduit, MadWorld, and Sonci and the Black Knight coming out.

Back in the 16 bit day, I loved Sega and I loved Nintendo. To see the two working together is almost a dream come true.

I almost don't want to get the game anymore, since I know that I'll enjoy it enough to get all 17 sequels and spin-offs that Sega is going to pump out, all with little to no effort put into them. Help?
