Mirror's Edge demo hits PSN Oct. 30, XBL Oct. 31

We hope you didn't have anything planned for the next few days, because EA just announced that the Mirror's Edge demo is going live on PlayStation Network tomorrow, Oct. 30, and Xbox Live Marketplace the following day, Oct. 31. If this slice of the game is anything like we've previously played, it won't be very long – but you'll want to keep playing it over and over again.

This will be the case even more so if you've pre-ordered the game from Best Buy and received the retailer's exclusive time trial mode unlock code. DICE has set up special demo leaderboards so you can spend between now and the game's release on Nov. 11 vying for the coveted top spot. Remember to look before you leap.

Look before you leap? I thought this game was about speed and trusting in your gut that there will be a building's edge close enough to grab after jumping.

Yes.

after spending $70+ on Gears 2, $80+ in Fallout 3, and still having to finish paying for Resistance 2 (not to mention i still have to get LBP, Eternal Sonata, and pay for both PoP and Naruto), my wallet is cringing at the news of this demo, since it will be the deciding factor as to whether or not i'm getting the game.

also, and i the only one who thinks these are some of the best graphics in a game since...well, ever?

Two words for you, cowboy: BUY USED.

The graphics are incredible in this game!

Also, definitely buy used. Actually, you should rent Eternal Sonata if you aren't into replaying games. It only takes about 25 hrs in the first run (which is really easy). But if you want a challenge and the trophies (does it have trophies?), you have to play a second runthrough which takes at least 35 hrs.

That is based on the 360 version, apparently the PS3 version has a lot more content so it will take longer.

If it's the one I've tried today, it's the one they've shown on all the videos, and is fantastic. I'd advise everyone to give it a go, it'll have you hooked.

To me, this looks like this years "Assassin's Creed".

And to me, Assassin's Creed was a bit of a let down.

Michael Patcher said (in the newest Game Informer) that this years Assassins Creed would either be Mirrors Edge or the new Prince Of Persia. He says this because there is no way to know why people liked A.Creed. If they liked it because it was new and innovative then he leans towards Mirrors Edge. If people liked it because it was a period piece then he leans towards Prince Of Persia.

I'm all thrilled that Sony is dropping the big bucks to get preferential treatment over MS, but releasing the demo a day sooner on PSN then XBL is a big middle finger to the gamers. In my book, that's just wrong. Awesome business model there Sony, nothing but love.

Really? I think this looks like one of the more creative titles this holiday season. I wish I had the funds to get this, Valkyria Chronicles, Resistance 2, Prince of Persia, Midnight Club LA and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. I might actually trade in older games (which I never do) or keep them on my backlog for the drought after Killzone 2 & Resident Evil 5 next year. Even if I did buy those games I mentioned I would still not have time to play them with all of the great titles I already own like Gears 2 (pre-paid), Dead Space, Little Big Planet, Fallout 3, Socom Confrontation, Far Cry 2, Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, Wario Land Shake It, Pure, Disgaea 3, Wipeout HD, Siren, GTA IV with trophy support and Uncharted with trophy support!!! Insanity! At some point I would also like to pick up Fable 2, Banjo-Kazooie Nuts And Bolts, Viva Pinata 2 & The Force Unleashed.

These games will easily carry me through next year!

I haven't seen enough of this game to make a real judgment. it's coming at a time with so many other big releases between now and the 11th, i don't understand why they haven't had a media blitz yet. Maybe it'll start after the demo.

The art direction looks interesting, but every video i've seen so far looks just like the last one.

To be fair Azure/premier/Newman you are always very negative. It has nothing to do with selective fanboy vision. It's your right to be that way but it is the truth. I think that if you were at least justified in your criticism it wouldn't be a big deal. But, when it's simply a given that you will bash all things Sony for no reason you will continue to have that label. Not that I also don't carry labels myself or that I am perfect in any way but I think there is some truth there. Not to mention it seems you have never given a reason as to why you have such contempt for the PS3 & Sony.

It may be that that's how I come off since I'm always responding to bs and usually that brings out my attitude which tends to be negative and that's what most people see.

Anyways as a gamer I think this year has a lot of great games. The problem will be finding the time to play them all.

I agree with you there. It's almost hard to go wrong with any games this gaming season. Whatever the reasons are for your negativity even you must admit sometimes it is simply unfounded and just anti-Sony ... which is fine like I said I am not acting like I never do it either to some extent but I feel I usually have some basis (I am sure others don't feel that way) ... Two examples are the Resistance 2 review comment and the $100 PS3 comment ... EOD means End Of Day as in EOD Friday

Obviously the Wii version is the one that suxxorz, or at least it would be if it existed ;).

I'll be downloading both as well. PS3 is the lead platform for once, so want to see if that makes a big enough difference to pass up on those glorious cheevos. I guess I can always leave my 360 on on the other input to be logged into XBL while playing.

Ok, this is getting absurd. Not only are there too many good games to find the time to play, there are even too many good DEMOS to find the time to play.

I think not. Everyone KNOWS PC gaming is DEAD.

PC game isnt coming out till Jan or Feb I think. I doubt we'll get the demo this early.

Every site I have seen says it's coming out November 14th in UK, where does it say it's coming out in a couple of months?

That's what I want to know, what about PC?
Maybe I'll get a PS3 or XBOX360 someday, but I think I'll be waiting for the NEXT gen for consoles.
I saw somewhere that the PC date was november 11th though, 1up.com I think. Maybe it has changed since then though...

This game rocked so much I loved it at the Eurogamer Expo definitely a must buy so far!

I have a lot of interest in this game, but I don't want to buy it before I really know what it plays like.
