FT.com also confirms Beatles in Rock Band
FT.com revisits a story it's been following all along: the inclusion of The Beatles library in one of the two reigning rhythm game kings. The winner, of course, is MTV's Rock Band. Though already confirmed last night by the Wall Street Journal, the official announcement isn't until 10am Joystiq Time, so we're offering you this as a second verification.
Beyond the basics – The Beatles haven't licensed their music digitally anywhere else; Activision made its own pitch for the content and while the FT piece doesn't offer much new, it does reflect the scale of these music licensing negotiations. That MTV acquisition sure makes a lot more sense now, eh? We'll bring you more around 10am.

Impatiently awaiting 10 am Joystiq Time.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 30th 2008 10:47AM
I believe the proper name is Ludwig Time.
BoBoTheChimp @ Oct 30th 2008 8:32AM
To hell with the Beatles, where is Led Zeppelin??!?
Jakka @ Oct 30th 2008 8:51AM
I don't think either of the games deserve Led Zeppelin.
...that and the fact that universe would explode if Guitar Hero or Rock Band was to get it.

"To hell with the Beatles, where is Led Zeppelin??!?"
That is exactly the first thing I thought when I saw this. No Stairway though!
Obie @ Oct 30th 2008 8:36AM
Wait so The Beatles songs come out on Rock Band before Itunes? Whoa.
Archon @ Oct 30th 2008 8:43AM
So can't wait for that!
McWeen @ Oct 30th 2008 8:44AM

Indeed. It would be nice if you guys could perhaps post a timezone or something, given that your server isn't putting "joystiq local time" stamps on pages.

This story says it was posted at 8:27am on my browser, doesn't yours?
J.Goodwin @ Oct 30th 2008 9:28AM
Yes, but I assumed that was relative to my local time zone.

When I'm Sixty-Four, I'll Be On My Way to having played these tracks Not A Second Time-- more likely, I'll have been at them Eight Days A Week. Yesterday, all we heard was "You Can't Do That", but fortunately Apple Corps and MTV said instead "We Can Work It Out". That Means A Lot! I've Got A Feeling this DLC won't be Free As A Bird, but will be a new disc like the AC/DC set... but It Won't Be Long before we know for sure. I'd ask for them to Get Back to me, but I'm sure I'd get No Reply. Anyway, All Together Now, let's Come Together to welcome the news: Here Comes The Sun!
Kizzle @ Oct 30th 2008 9:50AM
Feh. Bands like AC/DC and The Beatles are fine to listen to, but Metallica is much better as a game in this genre. I'll gladly support RB over GH any day, but GH has the better exclusive here.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 30th 2008 9:53AM
While I'm usually the first to debate the relevance of the Beatles, you've got to be thirteen or on fucking drugs if you think that they're not more relevant than lame-ass Metallica.
Jakka @ Oct 30th 2008 10:09AM
...and where did he say they're not more relevant than Metallica?
All he pointed out was that Metallica flows much better with GH/RB than Beatles. And I agree with him same way I would've agreed that AC/DC would've been a much better choice than Pink Floyd.Pink Floyd obviously trashes AC/DC but this is one of those discussions in which this is irrelevant.
DeadPlasmaCell @ Oct 31st 2008 3:02AM
Amen. Love The Beatles, but I see this being a snooze fest compared to something like Guitar Hero: Metallica. We'll see how they pull it off though.
JoeTheBlow @ Oct 30th 2008 9:52AM
I doubt this will be DLC, it sounds bigger than that.
Expect Beatles Band or something, this is a full game coming.
FSK405K @ Oct 30th 2008 10:10AM
And if I can download the tracks into Rock Band, I'm cool with it. If it's a separate game, fuck it.
jorojoserojas @ Oct 30th 2008 10:32AM
Wow...you totally called it, man. Well done.
Garrett @ Oct 30th 2008 10:06AM
I bet they're just getting together to announce that The Beatles will never ever be available for any Rhythm Music game or download source and that people should stop asking.
