I think it's interesting there hasn't been anything written analyzing Peter Moore's move to EA and the changes and focus we've seen within the company. I fully expected him to push the 360 once he arrived there, but it's really been quite the opposite. Makes you wonder if he knows something we don't.

Quite the contrary; I think he's on the same page as PS3 owners.

with the way the ps3 is catching up in sales with the 360 i'm not surprised that EA is trying to be the first major publisher to get great games that take advantage of the ps3 out the door.

Wow I love how EA is becoming a polished brand again. I'm playing dead space and I just can't get over how good the game is.

I was thinking the exact same thing (also while playing Dead Space earlier). I just hope they keep this streak up and don't suddenly decide to launch Dead Space 2 and Mirror's Edge 2 by holiday season 2009.

EA is capitalizing on being one of the only 3rd party publishers to support the ps3 properly, smart move.

I dont know...the camara moves too fast for me. I know im going to puke in this game. But i hope im wrong.

5 months i looked at this game a must buy...but with all the good games coming to the ps3 i will not have time for this one. Maybe i will buy it when it reaches the $29.99 at that time i will probably have finished all of the games i was waiting for.

Am I the only one that thinks this looks so painfully generic and plastic? All the buildings look the same, and all these "red" pipes are just conveniently placed all over the city? Is that ever explained?

It's reminds me of comparing EQ2 to WoW. The art direction of wow is so alive and unique, and EQ2 just looks so generic and boring.

From Wiki:

Setting

The game's name derives from the mirror-like aesthetic of the city of tall, gleaming skyscrapers and Faith's existence on the fringes of that city along with other dissidents, who have been pushed to the edge.[20]

Though set in a seemingly utopian city environment with low crime, clean streets, and sterile architecture, it is ruled by a totalitarian government regime that conducts unbridled levels of surveillance on citizens. In this world of communications monitoring, the only way to deliver confidential information between parties is to employ couriers (called runners) to physically deliver the information.[8]

Aside from white, the city is dominated by primary colors and orange, but it has little of the color green, emphasizing the sterile atmosphere—even plants and trees are white. Grey was also avoided in order to distinguish Mirror's Edge from other games. Color is important as an indicator of health, since HUD has been eliminated from the game; as Faith takes damage and her health level decreases, the city's colors desaturate.[20]

The red pipes are explained...actually, they aren't "technically" red. They're normal color until you build up momentum

They explain that when your adrenaline's pumpin' and you get to a certian speed, everythign else kinda blurs out around you, and you get "runner's vision" where important walkways/stairs/whatnot turn red in indication that it may or may not be the best way to go. Think of a fantasized, revised version of tunnel vision. They explain it very well in one of the trailers/interviews. You can see at about 1:05 the pipe she jumps to doesn't turn red until she..well, jumps to it.

I'm sure that different difficulties will have less blatant runner vision.

wow... sounds like a very convenient "story line". If the city is monitoring everyone and have such "control" over their people, why do they let all these platforms and pipes run from rooftop to rooftop. I'm not buying it.

I will admit being all acrobatic like that is awesome, but the distraction of the canned/staged platforms and pipes just takes away from the immersion.

Basically they came up with this gameplay concept and focused so much on it that the story became an afterthought.

ggg...

You seem to be missing the 'fun' of video games here.

Tell me ONE game that is 'realistic' to the core? There isn't one.

This games does look generic but as the wikipedians are saying.. it was supposed to be that way. But i think its because if it was a city full of colors you will probably get dizzy really fast and see all blurry.

It really sucks that you have to follow the "red" path and not following you´re own. But ill have to wait for the demo and hope not to be right about this game.

They call it runners vision or something stupid like that. Hopefully its something you can turn off or only have pop up when your stuck. And if that horrible ass music is in the game, i'll be using a custom soundtrack. Which is a shame since i usually find custom music distracting

Also, I can't see why you guys are saying its "all about the PS3". Seem like most of the quotes in there came from IGN or 1up (egm). If I didn't see the video on PS3 fanboy, I wouldn't have even known that it was a promoting the ps3 version.

At least that's one thing Europeans get earlier than North America.

It's hard to believe. But EA is becoming a damn good company again. Their PS3 games are polished and solid, every bit as good at the 360 versions, if not a touch better and they are pushing new, interesting IP's. Dead Space is awesome, one of the top 5 games of this year.

Man this game is going to be sweet.

And seriously, for all of you whining about the 'red' and the fact that they're just 'ignoring' these runners. Go watch your trailers and read up on the game. The FIRST trailer they released explained why they are 'ignoring' the runners.

I think I may just wait for this game and buy it on PS3, not just because there's other game's I'm interested in this fall, but it does seem to be tailor built with the PS3 in mind.

I mean it seems like the most practical gameplay for the PS3 sixaxis controller, balance and what not.
