You are correct, I just checked the PSblog and it states specifically that...

"Plus and invitation to ALL Qore Ep. 6 and annual customer to join in the closed beta."

Key word there Joystiq, ALL followed by Episode 6 AND annual customers.

Once again Joystiq, you go and spread a rumor without VETTING the source, are you by chance employing the same vetters as the Rethugulans?

Here's the email:

"As an update to the PLAYSTATION(R)3 News email sent on Friday, October 24th, the special invitation to PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is available only to Qore annual subscribers who purchased subscriptions by 10/29. Qore Episode 06 purchasers will not be eligible for the special PlayStation(R)Home beta invitation at this time. We apologize for the miscommunication.

Participation in PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is limited to those 18 years and older and requires agreement with the PlayStation(R)Home Beta Trial."

Alrighty the Justin, good show. My apologies (this time) so now I will say...WTF Sony? Why does it seem that you are trying SO FRACKING HARD to blow this thing? I think the Sony team or the deciders need a collective Homer J. Simpson white glove slap to the FACE.

They're getting ready to test the final version but they don't want tons of people buying their way into the beta and killing the servers (which would then provoke all kinds of negative publicity). Personally, I think they're over-estimating demand, but I doubt they've ramped the servers all the way up yet, so it's a toss-up.

So is Home even launching in 2008? Didn't Sony promise that it would a month or two ago? The further we go, it seems more and more likely that it will get pushed back to 2009. I don't really care all that much though; I just want my Little Big Planet servers working properly.

As of last nite for me and another Joystiqer, the LBP servers were up and running 99% buttery smooth.

As for the Home Beta for Qore subscribers, if this is true then Sony once again takes 2 steps forward and 1 step back. I for now will take this as a rumor. At least give us the choice of paying for a full year subscription NOW to get into the beta.

Last time I checked with a PSN friend of mine who has been in the beta since April of 2007, he tells me that the open beta will launch in December at the latest.

As for LBP, BUY THIS GAME!!!! This is the game that my 3 year old can play, this is the game that my non-gaming wife LIKES to play, this is a game that my 6 year old loves, and this is the game that has enough challenge to keep my interest. Already there are so many cool user made levels.

Unboring, I had a blast last nite, you have 2 awesome levels that you created in a total of 6 hours. I cannot wait to finish the game so that I can unlock all of the creation tools.

BUY THIS GAME, the most innovative, original game in many, many years.

I would think that right NOW it looks boring for no other reason than the amount of people in Home and the fact that many of the areas that will be in the open beta are not in the current closed beta build. They inaccessible areas are still in the final stages of internal testing.

I still have high hopes for Home, and I still believe that Home will be the future of interactive online gaming communities.

Jack, do you have LBP yet?

This rumour makes no sense at all.
By opening it to the 1-episode buyers, they not only get lots of cash from the tens of thousands of curious wanna-sees, but they also have a chance of hooking lots more subscribers from those that watch Qore and like what they see.

It was win-win for everyone, this is ridiculous.
It can't be true can it?

No, its not. From sister site Ps3fanboy.

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/10/25/november-issue-of-qore-takes-us-home/

Read the summary of the upcoming Qore Episode 6, it CLEARLY states that a Home beta invite will be included in Episode 6 and that it is extended to the annual customers along with just Episode 6 customers.

But you know how Joystiq loves to post rumors as facts. (especially anything negative about Sony)

Whatever, they must love pleasing Premiere Asshat and pals, why? I don't know.

True McCloud Joystiq has seemed for the most part to get off the bash Sony bandwagon and yes I see that they DID do thier homework this time and it is indeed true. Sony has done some awfully DUMB stuff with the PS3, it's almost like the have a Shiggy/Master Chief spy working there.

MS and Nintendo do a lot of dumb shit too, but this...this is just pathetic.

Oh well, at least I have LBP and soon this...

At the risk of sounding like a PS3 fanboy... can you really compare Home and NXE? It seems like NXE is just a big dashboard update plus avatars, where Home is MMO-ish. I think all they really have to do with each other is avatars...

Actually it feels like NXE is getting the great features and Home is a cover up for not adding any....The Netflix is MASSIVE, Avatars replace stupid Profile pics, the new Menu looks great, GROUP chatting is finally added so IN GAME Group chatting? Thats Dope....Improved Dashboard so it doesn't freeze up your game while comming up, In game and in movie launches of other games...Its more features I haven't even mentioned yet...

@ExMcCloud

Netflix: http://lifehacker.com/5069505/playon-adds-hulu-and-others-to-your-xbox-360-ps3

Doesn't that do the trick for both X360 and PS3?

Group chat while in-game sounds cool. As far as I know, Home only offers group chat while you're outside in one of the game lobbies.

The PS3 XMB doesn't seem to ever freeze like you mention the dashboard does, and it's always allowed you to launch another game/video from the XMB. Does NXE allow you to launch another game/video without exiting the one that you're running? Cause that would be cool...

Other than that, it seems like NXE and Home will both have avatars and an improved menu...

@reyes: PlayOn isn't free, and doesn't offer HD Netflix streams, like Net3Flixty.

The Netflix news on 360 and now with HD is such a major treat because I already own a 360 w/Live and subscribe to Netflix for Blu-Rays and streaming on PC. Now I can stream 300 titles in HD.

What this game has done is the impossible, b4 LBP the only genre my wife would play is singing/music games, but now after many many years I have finally found a game that we can play together that we both enjoy.

This is really bullshit. At first Qore was the "higher tier" demo service similar to how XBL Gold members get demos a week early. NOW there's a higher tier on top of that for full subscribers.

Might as well make the next beta for people whom have purchased 3 years of subscriptions on the third of November while drinking chocolate milk upside-down.

Wow, Sony would have gotten some more money if they would have told people about the annual subscribers only thing about 2 weeks ago (or whenever they announced the Qore thing). I seriously considered buying episode 6 if I could get in the beta, but now that I know, Sony isn't getting my money.... They would have gotten my money if they would have said annual subscribers only, I actually would have payed.... O Well, too bad for them......
