PSN Thursday: Faith is rewarded in Mirror's Edge demo

It's time to finally take Mirror's Edge for a test run. The demo is available now on PSN and will make its way onto the XBM tomorrow. Our brief hands-on time with Faith back at E3 showed us the game's concept worked, but now it's time to really put the title through its paces. The PSN also adds the EndWar demo, which is also certainly worth checking out. The full North American update is listed after the break.

PS3 Fanboy has the details on this week's European PSN update, which includes the EndWar demo. We wonder if the game's surprisingly responsive voice commands are still top notch with a cracking Welsh accent?

As an aside, PixelJunk Monsters has been updated with Trophy support.

Sweet. About time PSN gets a demo first... I don't hate the 360 or anything, but it's just not fair to the PS3 owners.

PSN could have more demos before the 360 if they didn't always update the store at the same time on the same day every week. They should up the demos asap, then leave the weekly update for videos, DLC and the new purchasable games.

That's what the demo is for. You download it and try the game out. That's what all of us sane people do anyway. If the subject matter (or being a female?) is what turns you off then so be it.

John - That's astute, but my guess is that this isn't his most recent incarnation. Unless I'm a dummy and just way off. It's multi-plat, but the douchebaggery is there, so maybe you're right.

In summation, it's almost like a where's waldo, and isn't that enjoyable for all?

This game looks like it could really be something special, just hard to tell yet.

Why would a 360 fanboy be jealous of a 1 day difference when they've had some solid timed exclusives? I don't care either way since bitching about it won't solve anything, but it just seems odd if they're jealous... or stupid.

Dude, 360 users get most multi-platform demos only 1 day early because XBL updates on Wednesday and PSN on Thursday. That's it.

No he's pissed because not only is this game getting the demo early, but it's supposedly the lead platform and the PS3 version is getting exclusive DLC. I mean just read his comment...mirror's edge isn't a game, whaaaat?? It's obvious as hell he's jealous.

What are you talking about. XBL doesn't have a set day like PSN does, they just put the stuff out there as soon as it's available. It could be Wednesday, or it could be Monday or Sunday or any other day.

I think what you're thinking of is XBL ARCADE games, which are always released on Wednesday. But demos, DLC, videos, etc are released the day they become available.

Does it really matter that much if there's a couple day or a week gap between 360 and PS3 getting a demo. If you try to think back a couple-few months, I bet no one can recall what demo came out when or on what system first...

ditto. i only have 26 gigs left out of my original 60, and i'm sure Resistance 2 will tax that further with a mandatory install (not to mention PoP, Naruto and now Mirror's Edge, though i'm hoping there won't be any installs for those).

as for the Update, well, the only thing i was really interested in was the Mirror's Edge demo. downloaded and played it, and it was everything i expected. NICE and (more importantly) fresh game, at least according to the demo. i may try out the Alone in the Dark demo, but i doubt Atari fix the game that much from it's broken 360 counterpart.

I got a nice deal myself a while back on a 320gb from amazon. Combined with system usage and whatever files I have transferred over (probably not nearly as much as the hardcorest of gamer, but I do have a bunch of demos and some downloaded games bought off PSN), I still have 235 free. I doubt it would be necessary, but I could see myself upgrading once more to a 500 when the price comes down enough, maybe a year from now...
