Out of all the frightening images we've been subjected to this Halloween, this one easily ranks as the most terrifying. It's an intensely intimate view of the PSP Brite (or PSP-3000 if you want to get all technical) and the screen that's drawn some disapproving squints in recent weeks.
The folks at Logic-Sunrise have apparently peered at the brighter screen (magnified by a factor of 40), pinning the blame for the perceived interlacing issue squarely on our ex-friend, the now horizontally lined, observable darker blue pixel. Oh, when we're done with you, pixel, you'll be all shades of black and ... well, blue.

See how the 3000 has dark blue pixels compared to the regular blue pixels on the 2000?

I have not read the article but this is what I'm assuming.
There are a less blue pixels per line compared to the 3000. Games created for the 2000 may be programmed to compensate for the lack of blue by adding pixels. When a game, formatted to use less pixels is played on the 3000, more blue pixels are displayed due this compensation. This leads to what appear to be scan lines.
This is all an assumption based on looking at the picture though, there may be more explanation in the linked article

it's not hard to figure out. The lines go left and right and the blue line is more pronounced (because it is brighter in the 3000 but the actual blue coloring is darker) and that causes the scanlines to show up on movement.
Seriously though, I don't even notice the scanlines when playing games unless I'm looking for them. If I'm focused on actually playing the game, I don't see them.

It almost looks like an impossibly hard game of Space Invaders.

I mean I've heard of myopic gamers, but never this. How about someone showing what it looks like in the real world (ie: further than a nose hair away)?

As I already said in the other newspost, because of the sheer zoom, both screenshots looked awful so you couldn't really tell how the screen/graphics would look from a normal distance.
Seriously it's like trying to compare Crysis and Far Cry 2 with all settings set to Very High and 800x640 Resolution.

I'd love to see that whole Presidents album in RB2. This'll have to do, I suppose.

well I (like many) have no idea how this translates into real world effects. Maybe games developed with the 3000 in mind will not have the scan line issues. I haven't played a 3000 but I remember reading there is a specific setting you can turn off that removes the scan lines. I still have my original fatty PSP and have no plans to upgrade until the thing stops working or until an actual successor to the PSP is released.

Yes because we all play our PSP under a microscope.
