Tucked away in a newly released Nintendo software schedule PDF is the first confirmation that the "Play on Wii" series of GameCube Wiimakes is US-bound. Re-tooled versions of Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis are listed among other titles due in North America during 2009, although no specific dates accompany them.
'Play on Wii' Pikmin hits Japan on Dec. 5 for ¥3800 ($38). If Nintendo can bring it and other GCN ports Stateside for $29.99, will you bite?

Before, I would have said no to a Pikmin remake for Wii. But when I think about it, and read around... and have been getting used to the wiimote... maybe not a bad idea. Mario and Zelda, they might as well stick to new concepts instead of relying on remakes. They're a big enough franchise. Still, never know what will happen.
Okay, I'll bite... for now.

Complete BS. Why buy a new console to play last gen games again? Yeah it doesn't take much to port from gamecube to an overclocked gamecube. But insted of spending any ammount of resources to port games they should just develop new one. I'm all for remaking old games but come on pikmin was last generation. I'd love to see remakes of things like Chrono Trigger in 3D rather than the DS port or FF6 but not the chibi style of FF3-4DS. Nintendo are just shafting gamers by releasing the same stuff over and over, $5 for a VC game? No thanks,$30 for a last gen game? Nah. And don't even try saying it's got improved graphics, the Wii isn't that much better graphically than the gamecube so it wont look that much nicer. Nintendo must be laughing at everyone who buys the Wii because they no they can get away with giving gamers same old shit, Mario Party anyone? Zelda? Same basic story new graphics. Not worth my money anymore. I had my gamecube for gamecube games, if I want them on Wii I'll just take advantage of that things... backwards compatibility I think its called.

I justified the pricing in my first paragraph. Resident Evil 4 Wii launched at $30 and it has already shown just how much better Wii controls can make a gamecube game. I am 90% certain that the same will be true for all the "Play on Wii" remakes that Nintendo does as well.

Only if they add widescreen, or use black borders. Stretching is horrible.

Not sure i'd pay $30 for any of the ones i've played before. But i'd love to try Windwaker, Pikmin, Metroid Prime 2 and Beyond Good and Evil with wiimote controls.
Pay $30 for an old game with new controls, or pay $30 for an old game with better graphics... your choice..

It's probable for me to get both of these as I missed out the first time.

Allow me to place my two cents, if you don't mind.
Personally, I have a small Gamecube library, so I'm kind of hesitant in forking $30 (US) for a "Play on Wii" game that I already own for the 'cube. However, I would like to try it out just for the fun of it.
Still, for those who have never owned the Gamecube titles, I think they could benefit from this. Sure, the price is an issue, but it's all about getting your money's worth. I (or my parents) paid retail price of $50 for some of these games (i.e., Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Super Mario Sunshine) and I had fun. Now could you imagine playing those games with the Wiimote (and possibly nunchaku combo) for only $30? You could swing the sword in Wind Waker like you would in Twilight Princess!
If only these Play on Wii games were online compatible, that would be more worthwhile. Could you imagine playing Melee, Metroid Prime, and Star Fox: Assault online? It may never happen, but it's nice to dream.
