I don't understand how people since the boomers have managed to get into the Beatles. It's old music, the music isn't on mainstream rock/pop stations, and all the exposure young people have to their hit songs are through cliche Hollywood movies and corporate America advertisements for penis drugs and the like... Not exactly "counter-cultural"...?

That isn't fact - its opinion. We have been exposed to the Beatles in many ways besides the ones you mentioned. Heck, they were always a subject in the music classes I took as a child. We even had to play their songs when learning an instrument. Also, I hear them played on the radio in Chicago.

I doesn't matter how old it is. Good music is good music.

What's the Radio?

Is it like a Podcast?

Regardless, classic rock is making a huge comeback, and one of the primary reasons for that is their use in GH and RB. So it makes perfect sense for them to release their tracks in this format. While I disagree with the general idea of standalone discs.... it's the fuckin Beatles people.
It's gonna make huge bank.

Your question is pretty easy to answer:

Those boomers are our parents (for a lot) - and we grew up with that music.

I hated them for a long time just because my dad loved them. Then at some point you grow up and realize how good it is - especially compared to most of today's crap.

That's pretty much it. I wasn't fond of them for quite a while because I quite simply was sick of hearing about them. But on my own time, I checked them out, and... wow.

It's easy.
They are one of the greatest bands of all time. That's why I (17 years old) listen to them over this Katy Perry monstrosity. These modern "artists" won't be remembered in 10 years, but the Beatles will stick around.

I really don't see how this could not be included as DLC for Rock Band 2.

And I used to support Harmonix because of their stance on making Rock Band a platform instead of making yearly sequels.

I respect the beatles and everything. I acknowledge that they are great artists. But I have a feeling that most of their songs wouldn't be much fun to play. It was like Bob Dylan, he's a great musician, and the song itself was amazing. But I don't think Tangled up in Blue was that great of a party song.
I just think that everyone wants their favorite bands in Rock Band or Guitar Hero (and I assuredly do) but to me The Beatles just wont be that much fun to play. So I'm interested to see what they do for this game specially.

1969?

I know The Beatles wanted to end it with Abbey Road, but Let It Be is a pretty important album, especially when you're considering ONLY the UK releases.

There's some good Harrison songs on that album, as well as Get Back, Two of Us, Across The Universe, and One After 909...which would all fit well, I think.

"Giles Martin, who served as music director to Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Love alongside father and Beatles producer George Martin, will oversee the game's music."

Am I the only one who is unbelievably ecstatic to hear that? Giles Martin is a fucking genius and he is exactly the right man to be working on this game. He KNOWS The Beatles, and he'll do this game right. (Also, Love was fucking awesome, I didn't see it but I have the album and it is sooooo good.)
